Just been released by Charlton, money well spent there!

Thank god for that. What a mess from start to end. Good luck to him elsewhere.

There are some strong contenders for the title of "worst bit of transfer business under the regime", but signing PP must be up there with the leaders. Shocking waste of money.

And the tragic thing is you can sort of tell that was always going to be the case just from his Youtube video. There's little there to show much in the way of ball control or silky smooth finishing in the Clive Mendoca mould. So, imagine how bad the bits that ended up on the cutting room floor must have been? And still we paid good money for him.

who scouted him for us? who went and watched him play 10/15 times and who agreed the transfer??

Who scouted him... Roland... Who went and watched him play... Dont be silly, Roland has streams to every player in the world so he didnt need to go and see him... Who agreed the transfer... Do you seriously need to ask?

Big bucks reported at the time but I do wonder how much signing PP has actually cost. Doubt there was a very big up front payment with most of the fee dependent on games played etc etc. Doubt Pete has triggered any additional monies. If we havn't paid too much in wages whilst on loan then he probably hasn't actually cost that much.

The real issue here is the acquisition of an obviously not good enough player in the first place. I'm fairly confident that those to blame are still actively influencing our recruitment policy. It's utter madness.

This. And even the biggest clubs with the best scouting networks make mistakes on players in their late teens/early twenties. But given the levels he played and failed to succeed at, it seems that he had nowhere near the potential that was claimed.

I wonder (and sort of ask this to the group), if there would have been as much frustration with him if he hadn't been signed when Yann left?

Surprised the question hasn't been raised... Who was worse: Polish Pete or Martin Christiansen?

What was the rumour regarding how much we paid for him?

There was a rumour of- 700,000 Euros - £528.341.76 - but that does sound high. On transfer market it is says £375,000 which sounds a more realistic amount. Of course, a lot of the transfers dealings are undisclosed which makes it more difficult to judge the amount of money invested / thrown away.

Transfer market has his maximum value at £375,000, now valued at £300,000 (don't know how reliable that is)

shows just how farcical our 'system' of signing players has become. Expect the next to be released to be RJ. Now that would be comical.

700k not sure if euros or pounds was the amount i heard for this fella

and for the record at the time when everyone was dropping to their knees to swallow anything Roland would throw at us I said he looked like a park player playing with a stadium in the back ground from his youtube montage

edit vff says the same re 700k

I said the first time I saw him for the U21s we had been sold a dud. Michael Smith and Joe Pigott looked a class above him. He looked like the standard of a Welling United player.

Lord Lucan and Polish Pete lost to us at the same time, how much more agony must we suffer ?

For a club with limited resources such as ourselves, to have wasted so much money through appalling scouting and a complete failure to research the strength of the Championship, is a disgrace. Nothing against Piotr personally, but his time on the pitch in the first team is likely to have cost us in the region of

    £100,000 per minute

if it were just him then fair enough as all Clubs make the odd mistake but we have had far too many in the RD era who have, or still are, costing us plenty out of our limited budget.

The guy signed a four and a half year deal. It's highly unlikely he's on less than £150k a year. Practically everyone except kids was on £250k minimum in 2013, and he's a striker, who attract a premium. Even at £150k that would make his contract worth £675k in round numbers (and that excludes on-costs). We were subsiding his wages at Randers and if his contract has been cancelled it's reasonable to assume that we paid up a good half of the balance, probably more given he won't earn the same anywhere else. I'd be very surprised if he has cost the club less than £1m overall and it's quite likely to be closer to £2m, depending on the fee.

This was a player who, from day one, couldn't cut it in the U21s, according to reports. Not his fault, but it was an appalling decision to sign him. I suspect if people saw the figures there would be more frustration, not less.
Thankyou AB. Taking your points into consideration Piotr's signing was nothing short of criminal.

Just to remind ourselves this is what the regime with the brilliant scheme to make 'football pay' told us when he signed 2 years ago:

Money thrown away. Who is accountable for the PP signing ? I would like to know KM's take on the whole PP deal and outcome.
