I love top gear and have read a few of his books. It is very disapointing. But you cant punch somebody at work and expect to get away with it. The incident put everybody, including bbc, in an impossible position. They will be gutted this happened.
I always enjoy reading his column in the Sunday Times. Top Gear had become a bit stale. According to someone who knows him he is thinking of starting a programme about rural life.
3 weeks to sack him for a punch, 40 years of covering up sex offenders...
I'm fairly sure that the BBC would have sacked Saville if he'd been spotted by a full TV crew shagging an under-age girl on a hotel patio with members of the public watching on....

Well everyone seemed to know that saclike was a nonce, it's just ok if the public don't see it then ?

Of course not - it's just a question of evidence vs innuendo.
Did Clarkson deliberately get fired ? Clarkson may be under contract to BBC and has been offered a lucrative offer from Sky ? The sure fire way to get out of that would be to punch your producer. In 99% of jobs that would be the result. Better than a racist 'gaffe' to get fired which Sky would not want to be associated with.
Lets see what happens and how long a new 'Top Gear' type show takes to appear onto Sky.

As his contract ran out at the end of March that would seem to be a very unlikely scenario. He could have walked anyway in three days, been worth more as a brand because he would have been marginally less toxic, not risked police action (which it seems will not be happening ) and have had more people willing to take a risk on him. It's more likely, given his well-known fondness for rose wine, that he was just not capable of making a rational decision.

Thanks @cafcfan. 3 days to the end of the contract ? Down to the drinking then or had been bottling it up for a long time and wanted to do it as a parting shot. Drinking excessively is not a good combination with driving. Still the whole thing is clearly nuts.
I'm I the only one that feels sorry for JC? Chin a junior employee at work and get pumped down the road for it?! Don't seem right to me.....
Yes you are. I mean seriously. You can't punch a work colleague in the face and not expect repercussions, especially given that JC has since admitted it was not the colleague in question's fault in any way.

Not everyone is a proper doublehard geezer like you Rob though. ;-)
Mind you, over a million people shared your view so no you're not alone, even before the full facts were known as it turns out. I wonder how many signatories would still sign it now? Sadly, probably most of 'em I suspect.
Some of us though just turn up for a days work with the unreasonable expectation that we won't be assaulted by our more senior colleagues...oh and yes, I am aware you're just trolling for a reaction.

Juat sorry he'll get a job with some other station so we wont have seen the back of the violent racist. Just glad the Beeb finaly had the balls to ditch the narcissistic windbag. Now if they can stop the disproportionate amount of coverage they give to the other rightwing attention seeking embarrasment Farage just because they feel they have to kowtow to the blustering subnazi aspect of the national psyche I'll be proud of our national broadcaster.
For someone who obviously thinks he has a left wing perspective you are awfully judgemental, prejudice and grudgebearing, you could almost be a national socialist yourself.
Not only that, but ain't a producer senior to a presenter? Probably come out of Uni giving it Johnny Big Potatas to JC and got parked up for his efforts

That's a legitimate criticism of SOME of the BBC staff who covered up or turned a blind eye to disgusting abuse. As did SOME hospital staff.
It is absolutely no defence for Clarkson.
The police, it is now being revelled, also covered up sex abuse cases related to Saville, Smith and who knows who else.
Good luck to the person who says "you can't nick me for drunk driving/shoplifting etc etc officer even though I'm bang to rights because someone who worked for the same organisation as you 30 or 40 years ago didn't do their job properly".
Left wing or right wing perspective, a bully boss is a bully boss .. Clarkson's TV persona is that of an obnoxious yet somehow still lovable middle class manager who's worth a few quid, with May and the midget acting as his sidekick whipping boys, the butts of his 'humour', Clarkson as a David Brett for the Swing Low Sweet Chariot brigade .. this is a case where reality has reflected a media 'character' and Clarkson has gone far too far, probably as a result of too much booze and obsequious hangers on just not daring to ever tell him to cool it .. good riddance to a bullying braggart of a boring bastard .. personally I find Clarkson, May and the little fella all as boring as watching paint dry .. I have never 'got' the attraction of Top Gear in recent years, but there again, soap operas leave me cold as well. I do wonder if any UK TV company will employ Clarkson after this furore, I think that he is a busted flush .. good riddance if that is so
Sky have demanding diversity targets and will be unlikely to be interested. ITV won't want to spend the money on the show and won't want to have to tell advertisers that one of their big shows is telling viewers that their product is rubbish. Possibly one of the online production companies might take it on.
We should feel sorry for one group of people - the production crew, nearly all freelance, who have lost work because of this. They are paid only when they are working and they will have empty days in their diaries.

I find that hard to believe Bournemouth, I bet there are plenty of people who want to lamp you one at work...
So the Persona that Jeremy Clarkson Portrays on TV is his real personality ?
The world that JC has inhabited since going to Repton school is become top dog and bully anyone who get's in your way. Well producer's who won't hit you back when your pissed is quite a safe option.
Being friends with the Oxfordshire set (Cameron, Jemina Khan, Rebekah Brooke etc who appear to worship the ground you drive on must help the ego to grow and grow.
The last thing the BBC wanted to do was lose the presenter of the cash cow that was Top Gear. If you were really cynical you would think Clarkson enjoys all this coverage he's getting?
For all Clarkson groupies, channel five if not Sky will indulge the 3 amigos,

Sadly, there's an element of truth in that...
But they obviously have way more sense than Clarkson.
As someone like you who has spent his whole Internet message board career getting offended on behalf of others; I find your recent practice of using this phrase rather odd. Never saw you having any sense of irony.

1st- She put the Mars Bars in the Snickers space on the shelf.
2nd- Geezer squared up to me after I put a dead rat under his drivers seat and he never found it for about 10 days
