KRC Genk talk to Charlton Athletic on a transfer of ilombe mboyo. Mboyo is halfway through his expensive contract in Genk and played more often than not.
Ilombe mboyo (28) arrived in August 2013 and came to Genk in the past two seasons in not even half of the matches kick-off. Injuries put him continuously on the side. In 2015 he played a minute.
In the Cristal Arena were early big question marks behind the high transfer fee - between 4 and 4.5 million - which Genk had paid to AA Gent. In February 2014 gave the then technical director Gunter Jacob for the first time that Mboyo's transfer from the beginning had retained a risk. "The medical tests showed that if the rhythm of training and competition would rise and the risk that he could get injured. That calculated risk suit you than," Jacob said.
His best period knew Mboyo during play-off 1 of last season: in the ten matches he took action. Five times in a row even as basic player, something he no other time came in Genk. His goal production was best for the winter this season. Eight times he scored, an average which - he might have kept it - now he would have been at the top of the top scorer list. Despite four and a half months without playing a single minute he's always been trefzekerste Genk this season.
Judging by the norms and values story of Dimitri De Condé upon his appointment as technical director, there seems to be little future for Mboyo play in Genk. He was 28 recently, costing his club around one million euros per year and still has two years of contract. He lifted Genk over the past two years not to great performances, and certainly not to praise all. The chances of him that will happen seems rather small. Both by his stature and the fact that he is already two years little train and play, partly because of his age.
Possibly Charlton Athletic provides a way out. The English team owner Roland Duchâtelet talks with Genk on a transfer of the attacker.
Might be on my own, don't know the guy so can't comment too much but the guy was in a gang as a child, would be heavily influenced by older gang leaders and this sort of crime is common in gang culture. Try to remember he was 17 so by law a child himself. Don't get me wrong it's a terrible crime but he probably had an upbringing that nobody here could relate to, no sense of right or wrong. I never understand why people are against rehabilitation, would you prefer he left prison and went back to a gang life committing more terrible crimes? If football has saved him and possible other victims it can only be a good thing.

agreed, i think there must be another player at similar or greater ability who will cost around the same who is not a child rapist. I'd prefer we got that player

Assuming there is no basis to the story they could say so but then the headlines could be "Charlton deny link to rapist" "Charlton back out of signing rapist due to public pressure", "family club Charlton considered signing a rapist" etc etc. Lots of mentions of Charlton and rape together in the paper and sometimes people don't read the whole story and only remember the key words ie Charlton and Rapist.
And once they've commented on that story it leaves them open to "So who would you sign?" "Why aren't you commenting on the link to player XYZ?" "Do you have a policy on not signing certain players?" "Would you sign Ched Evans?" which then leads to "Charlton refuse to rule out signing Ched Evans" headlines. All assuming the media remember who we are during a quiet summer but the Mail has already run the story lifted straight from the Belgium site or here.
Or they can stay quiet and hope to dies down as we move on to another rumour (or even an actual signing).

That petition is ridiculous, 1500 people outraged at a single tweet with absolutely no substance whatsoever and no direct quotes. Maybe someone could tweet an unsubstantiated rumour about the organiser of the petition so we can all get on our high horses.

Yes nobody is saying they hate the club as we have been linked to him, just that they wouldn't be happy if he signed. It may be a slight over reaction (me more than most) but I think it shows that are not maorally bankrupt and do not value success over what is right.
