Gomez has signed on for three years from October 2014 .. if he develops at the same rate that he has so far, he could be a 15/20/25/30 million pound player in 2017 and he'd still be only 21/22 years old .. unless there is a desperate need for some quick cash, it would be a nonsense to sell him now .. he's worth more to us now than 3/5/7 million .. I say again, unless there is a desperate need for the owner to raise some cash
I think 15/20/25/30m is getting ahead of ourselves in what would be two years from now. I'm with you on getting more than 3m that's peanuts IMO
You're right about no desperate need for cash (not that I can think of anyway). I just think RD isn't going to spend big and what spending we do will be done off the back of a player sales. I think this is the appeal for RD now. I reckon he thinks 3m for new players plus what we've got will be enough to give us a chance of promotion?
I can't see that myself as for me we are short a CB, a creative CM, LW and a CF. And that's if Gomez is loaned back
If we get 3 million, Murray must resign his place as a director instantly . He promised 2 things: that he would be a go between beyween the fans and the board and that the new regime would get full value for young players. He will have failed on both counts
Not sure why we would offer Igor a new contract when his current one still has four years on it either
Quite right; crass rumour. I don't really know why everyone is getting this uptight about the lack of activity. I can't remember any season that we have done business very early . Nothing will be predictable with Roland, so we may as well relax until August
Just looked at the bookies odds...Have I missed something with Sheffield Wednesday? Why are they up there for promotion and certainties to avoid relegation?
I never bet for Charlton but considering the odds, it's worth a punt on us for promotion (You never know, i'm optimistic)
In other news, A mate just text me suggesting that he saw the Lukaku brothers last night having dinner with Katrien in a Jamie Oliver Restaurant - He bullshits, and it isn't a solid rumour, but wasn't Romelu's brother touted earlier as a transfer? Unless of course we've managed to persuade Romelu that we'll be in the Champions League before Everton?
News about Patrick Bauer has been posted by Sky Sports on their Transfer Centre as well...
18:54 ADDICKS CLOSE ON BAUER
Charlton Athletic are on the verge of signing German centre-back Patrick Bauer from CS Maritimo, according to Portuguese news outlet Record.
Bauer, a former Germany under-20 international, is a former VfB Stuttgart youngster and is highly rated in Portuguese football.
His displays for Maritimo have attracted plenty of interest, with Aston Villa reportedly also eyeing up the player earlier in the summer
Bauer .. German for farmer .. another Jimmy Giles? . It would be great to have a man of the soil digging in for our defence ... German players are usually at worst, solid and reliable, fit and tough .. get him in
Looks good if it happens. £3m sounds too little for Gomez although I don't think a disdaster if included loan back this year, first option on next year, England cap (£1.5m - all to easy to achieve now days), 500k -20 Liverpool games, and 25% sell on. That is where I personally would set the bar for a lower up front fee.
last year we were odds on to go down and the year before blah blah blah. One northern whippet muncher "expert pundit) said we would only get 18 points--twonk. a good few WON money on us being in the top half (near thing that) .
Massive negative on blogs etc at the moment yet FECK all has happened in our league yet let alone CAFC.

I reckon it's a Millwall fan running this account.

Seriously, looks a decent signing. Right age, passes the height test, experience in the Portuguese top division, would have ambition, resale value.
Jesus, it's only bloody June and we finished 12th last season.

Anyway argue among yourselves.
Odds based on money wagered.
Stick a grand on Charlton and the odds will move.
