  • There's new legislation going through parliament at the moment to change the sanctions rules, as the ones we adopted after we left the EU's sanctions regime turned out not the be very well written. I get the impression from journalists on Twitter that the intention is that once the new rules are in place the government intend to allow someone else to buy the club, with the proceeds of the sale being frozen, at which point the club can resume normal trading.
  • Oh dear, what a pity.

    Shame it's taken so long.

What do you expect? Smartarses use the expression "we get the Government we vote for".

    Just seen this on Facebook.

Would say it's a bit harsh on the club and their supporters, but the way they've acted and come out the woodwork since the dough come in, a bit like Citeh, has been questionable. Could they appeal and still be allowed to operate, with any proceeds destined for Abro's pockets being seized? Or suppose that's too complicated.....
Can't compare the two fanbases imo.
  • Looks like Three are itching to pull the shirt sponsorship deal
  • Just listened to a fans group lead on BBC radio news. They just don't get it. Apparently Roman loves Chelsea and everyone else is jealous...
    wasn't my cousin was it?

While agreeing completely with sanctions on the likes of Abramovich and other Russian billionaires the actions of Saudi Arabia (with the support of UK and American weapons) has wrecked havoc on the Yemen, killing over 20,000 civilians through bombing and the likelihood of starvation hanging over 12 million children. So where is this line drawn in terms of owners whose profits are from or support immense suffering ?
The UK government (and majority of the population) doesn't care about Yemen. That's the fact of the matter.

And Yemen is not a direct threat to the western alliance unlike Russia or possibly China, So a line is being drawn, that says we will risk economic damage to over turn your actions but not risk nuclear war.

    Who will pay that now?

Taxpayers will probably one way or another,we will be financially supporting them soon along with Taxpayers (WH) United…🤔

They must have money in the bank for a bit of cash flow. I'm sure a business that was valued at £3,000,000,000 only last week would be able to find a trifling £28,000,000 down the back of a directors box sofa.

  • Chelsea F C, at one time nicknamed 'the pensioners' could very soon be applying for state benefits .. a ban on the sale of the club itself, the sale of tickets and club related merchandise, the buying and selling of players .. the salad days are over Chelseaites ..  how will the cloob now manage to pay the players and management their astronomical salaries and benefits ? .. Chelsea play at lil ol Noridge tonight .. be VERY interesting to see how they perform .. this is the end of an era and the denouement of the first of the mega rich spoilt English football clubs

£16 million 'cash at bank' apparently - and RA cannot feed in any more.
not enough to cover even a months wages

Nope - I couldn't give a toss about the players but unfortunately all the other staff could suffer.
And sadly, it will be the other staff who suffer, as happened with Spurs and Covid
