  • Can we really have a situation where players who aren't liked within the squad are kicked out. Managing a team is about dealing with personalities and making them work together for the benefit of the club. Player power cannot be allowed to dismiss managers or fellow players. I wonder how our players would cope with someone like Cloughie as their manager.

agree with the theory of your argument .. however, at the end, irrespective of his relationship with any other CAFC employee, player or managerial, Watt was not even trying during games, he was the proverbial waste of space .. he's gone .. good riddance .. amen

A real shame to see him go especially as we won't get enough compared to his talent.

In addition of our remaining strikers, Mak, Reza, Piggy, Ansah, the boy on loan in Scotland and Vaz Te all have contracts expiring this summer, Vet is never fit and has stated a desire to leave on loan as soon as he is and who really believes Lookman will be here next season... Leaving us with, errrr? Kennedy, Umerah and Hanlan?

Another summer of upheaval upfront whichever division we are in.

It's a shame as a fit, happy and firing Vaz Te, Vet, Lookman, Watt and possibly Kermy (or similar) would really be good in this league and is within our grasp.
  • Attach a fair weight of probability to what @Rob62 posts LL

    thanks
  • Do people really think we'll get £1m+ for Watt?
Can't help feeling we'll be lucky to get half that.
  • Given he has lamped at least a couple of senior players in the last few months he's well & truly burned his bridges so I don't think he's going to be coming back, unfortunately.

Where do you get this from ?

I've heard he's very difficult to manage/control, but I've not heard of him hitting senior players.
  • Looks like he is doing well in a team that are playing with confidence. He'd be mad to want to come back in a side that is in freefall.

I would say lets see what he's doing in 6 months to a year's time at Cardiff before we pass too much judgement. He started like a house on fire here but slowly burnt out at the Valley and was not really having much impact in the last couple of months.

Lots of possible reasons for that, our form, our managers, our relative lack of quality/strength in depth to play with him, but also potentially his attitude.

I don't know the inside story on why he was allowed to leave, but just because he has scored a couple of goals at Cardiff doesn't mean it was a bad decision. Not that I'm necessarily saying it was the right one either.

Watt's relationship with senior members of the squad was beyond repair. On this one it sounds like the right decision.

    how do you know that?
Because people who are closer to it and know about it have told you / us so.
    Another flag....I haven't got another 'follower' have I ?

Is this particular "incident", back in August, now in the public domain:

Watt came from the bench and impressed, opening the scoring and then setting up the second, as the Addicks started the season with a 2-0 win over QPR. Luzon admitted Watt had a training ground issue and so didn’t start. “Tony changed the game, he shows so much quality. It is between me and him, that is why he didn’t start the game,” he said. “Discipline, yeah. He accepts it because he doesn’t have any choice, it is the coach’s choice and he accepted it.

Agreed and have mentioned it on here previously that time will tell whether he matures. it would be nice to have a footballer of his calibre taking the piss out of defenders week in week out playing in a team of similar quality but then we would not be in the relegation zone if we did.
  • It was only February this year when there were people on here saying silly things like "he could be a Charlton legend one day".

what a load of simplistic crap, how am I meant to know who is close to whom, I can't so I ask the question
  • There might be a bigger problem. Even if we let him go for £1m - what about the controversy over his transfer to Charlton - just before Standard Liege were sold. Theres another long thread about the SL owner feeling he was cheated (in some way). There might be a legal case to sort before we can get at any sort of transfer kitty...

get the cash and then worry about any hypothetical/potential court cases .. Watt's CAFC career is finished, done, over
  • mom v Brum Friday. Looks fit. He needs a partner which he may as well whistle for in SE7. Can't see him being that keen to return.

    That's the fee agreed
    What's the source for that?
    (Am I wasting my breath?)

No but don't hold it
  • Am I missing something is 54 and Colin the same??
    Floyd is Confused
But there statements are never factually correct but statements any of us could call close enough to most outcomes that they can say "told u so"
    Allways smells of bull
  • Watt will be disruptive and out of favour at Cardiff probably before the end of the season. Great little footballer. Not a very professional footballer.

you just don't get it do you? I have no idea who PL45 is and therefore cannot put any weight to your words, whereas I know who is AFKA and therefore accept his words, you are being a little too simple.

He is just trolling as ever. Best to ignore him.

And that's where the problem is. Ae don't have a manager, we have a useless twat who couldn't manage a piss up in a brewery.
