What a tart, he played terrible so let's blame the fans, pull your finger out and work harder.

JBG has lost a lot of my respect. Nowhere near the player he was.

He probably knows more about how he feels than you do
  • Wimp.
What happened to "they paid their money they're entitled to their opinion?"
Never mind it wasn't directed at the players
  • He can't see the bigger picture, the fans are trying to get better players for him to play with and they'll have more chance of doing better than if we all started singing c-a-f-c-c-a-f-c-c-a-f-c

  • Just carry on worrying about the Euros, you have been for the last three months. Lack of commitment from JBG a rings true for many of our so called better players this season

JBG had a poor game v Ipswich but he was very good in the win over Wednesday.

He's quoted about the chants in the 2nd half because that was the question he was asked.

Still a good player but as he has been since he joined he has good games and bad games. And when he's good CAFC are good and when he's bad CAFC are bad.

Looks like a journalist has put him on the spot and a 2+2 response. The supporters have been have been pretty good throughout a succession of 0-3 disasters, though it was noticeable on Saturday that those of us at the back of the Upper that do sing are dwindling

The audio of this interview is on this week's Charlton Live podcast so you can contextualise them.

  • He was asked a question and answered it by a journalist looking for a headline. Remember English is not his first language, I work with a lot of people from within Europe who's first language is not English and often when answering a question or explaining something they often sound very blunt and direct as they do not have the words to explain what they are thinking.

    I don't think he's said anything wrong.
The last thing we want now is fans getting on his back. If they do that you might as well kiss goodbye to the championship right now.

http://www.southlondonpress.co.uk/article.cfm?id=114724&headline=Charlton star: We ended up trying to match Ipswich's direct style - which isn't how we play&sectionIs=sport&searchyear=2015

Slightly different take on it from the SLP

“On Saturday we got punished by a team that play in a simple way - they play long - and it worked. We didn’t play as we normally do. We started to play too many long balls as well, that’s not our game.
“We definitely could’ve scored a goal but it was probably too late when we started to create those chances. The positives came too late, we need to do it quicker.
“I don’t think this is a game that can give us any hope because we didn’t play well enough. They were silly goals to concede.”

Charlton’s fans produced a second minute protest, holding up flyers saying “We are the two per cent” - a message to chief executive Katrien Meire that the figure she claimed are disillusioned with the running of the club has been misjudged.
Gudmundsson said: “Obviously it doesn’t help when they were singing some stuff where they should probably be supporting us - but they are not happy. That’s how they feel. It is their point of view.
  • Hmmm so we've won everytime the fans have got behind the team and lost everytime they've been booed off the pitch...

Thats the second player to come out now and say the fans arent helping performances and still the fans think its bullshit, yes people on here have said that its not aimed at the players but if thats the case, protest when the match isnt in progress, there is plenty of time before and after the match to vent our views without it involving the players.

Of course fans cant do that now because they've booed for so many years they know that if they stop that performances will pick up and it'll become completely clear that it is their fault!!.

Yes the old saying is that we pay our money we can say what we want, but if thats the simple case, your not forced to spend your money, dont like it, dont bother!!... In addition its so simple that if a player wants a say, why dont they too just buy a season ticket!!!

He is right it does not help; however the last part of the para above is fair enough and spot on.
I was referring to Henry's post by the way.

Don't think we've got a chance of the championship mate - too far behind already.
  • Good job he wasn't around in the Hulyer days, not being paid, uncertain futures. Or for that matter in 1985. We'd never have been promoted.

Not going to start having a go at the players because it will just add fuel to the fire, team needs backing and as some have said quite probably journo fuelled, but if sentiment is as suggested, he needs to get a grip. Wouldn't mind if the protesting/ chanting was full on for 90 minutes making it a Liege style cauldron of anti RD hate or something similar

Am I missing something here? The fans stood for one minute out of 90 and for about 20 seconds of that minute (rather patheticically) sang the accompanying song. One minute!!

Apart from one other song in the second half, that was as far as the protesting went! If the players are being affected by that then we may as well all just give up now. I also can't believe that some on here are banging on about it not helping the team! It didn't seem to have an adverse affect against Sheffield Wednesday. Are players really that precious?

He's within his rights to criticise fans. However he was absolute shite on Saturday and consistently gave away possession or got out muscled. No amount of crowd noise would have changed that.
  • One comment many fans make is that Referees are rubbish because they dont understand the game because they've never played at that level... Bit of a joke really because how many of our fans can say that they've played at that level themselves, bet its a handful yet all of us claim to understand the level of Football?
  • I think the OP should change the title of this thread. It simply isn't what JBG said.

Maybe a boycott is the best option then?

Let the players have silence so they can concentrate on kicking the ball, because it seems some words to the same tunes are too distracting to many of them.

I'm sure it is out of contex but I will sing what I want for my £400 a season!!!
