I don't think that's what RD intends at all. What he has done at Sint Truiden is sell the club but keep hold of the ground, which he charges them to play on. He has also redeveloped the ground with a hotel, etc, under the stands. At the same time, he significantly increased the ground capacity there, basically by building upwards on the same fairly small footprint. These would be leasehold flats, so RD would still own them in the long run and get income from them.
Someone wake me up from this nightmare. Once the flats are built perhaps RD will change the name to the Staprix NV Arena....then switch the home kit to blue.
I don't think anyone with any sense would buy the club from Roland and leave him with the ground unless they had a very long-term lease at a nominal rent. Owning a club and not its ground is the way to much unhappiness.

It is, as the article states and we can all see, in need of replacement .
The worry is that they sacrifice capacity for flats and leave us unable to further extend the JS or East stands.
And can Tony "no you can't have the teams on the big screen cos I say so" Keohone or Katrien "every decision I make is right" Meire be trusted to think more than two weeks ahead? No, of course they can't.
The decision to stay with Just Sport and so wear Nike, presumably because no other kit supplier would run the shop, shows how narrow their vision is.
Nothing wrong with Nike but this is based on not increasing headcount, Roland's biggest taboo, not quality or value. Rather than have 5 more people on the payroll they sign away the retail rights for another few years even though, as stated, they had boasted about how bringing it in house was to be part of great break even project.

As Henry mentioned, as long as it does not effect the capacity of the ground AND the further development of the east stand with capacity then i do not really see a problem unless someone can enlighten me further. Secondly, Roland is here long term imo , just hoping the protests will force a change of ceo. Just to add i would like roly to sell up.
There's a limit to the extent to which you can extend the east stand. Under the previous scheme, which has already been compromised by the sale of 2 Lansdowne Mews, the capacity would only have increased by 3,000. Access is an issue, not just for the steel, etc, but for fans. The potential is mainly at the Jimmy Seed end, because of the relative lack of height issues.
Sint Truiden had an attendance average at home of about 6500 last (promotion?) season and is under 10,000 this season in the top flight. The original ground pre redevelopment looks to have been more like Welling / Gills - clubs in a totally different sphere to us. Its a bit easier to add a few more seats and flats/commercial development at small grounds.
Whilst the Jimmy Seed ideally needs to be upgraded, the key point is how many seats would be built. I know the original thoughts were to push capacity to 40,000, but I am not sure that's worth doing unless you are in the Premier League and then to be a firm fixture in that league. A capacity of 32k/35k is ok in the Premier League especially as the Sky money means income from fans is not as relevant.
Whether you could re-develop the Jimmy Seed, fill in the corners and get capacity of 32/35K with flats above, I have no idea. I would be happy with a capacity of that amount. But why no communication with fans? Why not ask us our opinion?? I can't see that changing under RD/KM.

In this case, our "opinion" will be asked by Greenwich if it gets that far - and there's nothing the Belgians can do to prevent that.
Am I wrong in thinking that once RD has a residential footprint on part of The Valley, there is nothing to stop him using the same status on the other area's? I for one am not in favour of ANY residential development of The Valley, and the quicker we can get this idiot and his cohorts out of the club the better.

Ultimately it depends on the proposed redevelopment IMO. It's the oldest stand so rebuilding could be a decent enough outcome providing capacity was kept at a minimum of 2/2500. If the proposal is just for say 1000 seats then it's obviously bad news
So at this stage this is not evidence of anything untoward and may turn out to be good news.
It's quite usual that such a longer term plan in any business would not be in the public domain until more thoroughly investigated and the pros and cons better understood.
I would expect that if it is raised at the Fans Forum little more than a holding response is given or we can really expect to be given.
Building some flats overlooking the pitch is not a bad thing, in that it shows a commitment to the club, as what's the point if there is no team. Building flats not overlooking the pitch is more worrying.
Keohane is quite obviously foolish and cannot know our history, especially regarding the valley. But then again what do you expect from someone that looked after a load of fast food kiosks at Wembley and arsenal (He bigs this up on his LinkedIn profile by the way)
