Pointless. Most of the fans have already turned their backs on the club, more will do the same next year in League One. What's the point of a 40,000 seater stadium and only 10,000 (if they're lucky) supporters? It just gives RD more power and control over the ground, land, status etc.
With the RD regime we are not dealing with reasonable people here. They have shown absolutely no regard for this club's community and they continue to show absolutely none. We now have an owner completely hostile to the supporters of Charlton Athletic.
It also has a hotel inside stayen stadium that has rooms that look onto the pitch.

Worcester's cricket ground has a new hotel as an integral part of the ground. Very nice it is too. Where would guests park at the Charlton branch of the New Campanile (see what I did there)?
It'll be interesting to hear what they say (or not) now that the story is out. If it was in any way positive news, I'd expect any sane ownership to crow abut this in much the same was as they did with the training ground; ooh aren't we the good guys, we're spending millions on the club's long term future.
That said, whatever this regime says I'll be inclined to think the worse. After all, what are this mob more likely to do:
1. Redevelop the Jimmy Seed into a larger more modern stand that has sufficient capacity for a club with Premiership ambitions (ha ha), and that just happens to have some other accommodation built at the back to make it feasible.
or
2. Use the land in that area of the ground as a non-footballing revenue stream at the expense of any potential ground expansion.

The building of residential properties on the South Stand confirms that Duchatelet is quite happy to run the team down and it is not bothered by losing supporters. Duchatelet wants Charlton Athletic as a League One / League two team to provide a shop window for sale of Academy players.

If all the Academy players need is a small ground, with a few thousand capacity then looking ahead there must be a temptation in the future to develop further parts of the ground. When there are fewer than 4,000 at a match then it would be more profitable to sell off more and more of the ground.
Duchatelet talks about community but really it is all about the money and profit.
Under Duchatelet Charlton will never return to the premiership and will be lucky to get a season in the Championship. Duchatelet's vision is of a sustainable football club, involves reducing the football costs until inevitably there is no football anymore with a few customers and no annoying football supporters.

Lots of people, if the price is right. Handy for the station, easy commute into london, more police patrols on average than elsewhere. Biggest neighbour is never at home and prefers to live abroad tending his sprouts.

I had read some comments about Tony Keohane before the supporter's meeting last November so was beginning to form a vague opinion. If I am correct, he was the guy that answered the season ticket question at that meeting. From a professional perspective I got negative vibes from him so am not surprised to hear he is KM's sidekick now.
Is it time to give Mr Keohane more attention but not the sort that will enhance his CV ?

While this is concerning, I would like to see the details before passing final judgement. The JS stand certainly is a very basic structure, with a lot of wasted space due to it being built on the banking.
I always thought the original plans from the PL days of a 40k stadium were excessively large. Realistically we'll never be a permanent PL club, we're one of many clubs who will have spells in and out of the PL, and expanding the ground just to cater for the big games against Man U and Arsenal, just ends up with lots of empty seats at other times. Cardiff, for example have shut their expensive new "red" upper tier this season as they don't need it.

If the focus is residential then suddenly the football becomes a danger to profit. Sell the first lot of flats, then you will need a greater percentage of the site to be converted. Those flats will be more valuable if rather than a small part of a larger footballing concern, they dominate the stadium of a small and unobtrusive team with only a few thousand supporters attending matches.
Pitch can then be turned into a communal garden for the residents.

You could say he can simply relocate the away fans and have a small new Jimmy Seed stand, but the police would probably block any relocation due to the way the away fans are perfectly segregated and easily manageable there.

From the outside you'd never think there was a football pitch the other side of the shops, restaurants and offices.
Not that this is what he's thinking, but if he were to try and replicate this type of set up at The Valley, then he really is utterly clueless. The flats bit makes sense given increased property prices in London, but there's no way a St Truiden set up makes sense.

Simple. The new Jimmy Seed stand has a token few hundred seats for normal away fan following in L1. It also has a walkway built in to the East Stand. The East Stand will be closed (avoiding refurb costs) but can be used to house large away followings (via the walkway) or home followings for special cup matches.
The only slight positive is that it is keohane's idea - and that Roland's response to it would be "will it make me money ? Do it then!" .... This of course could lead to an accidental benefit to RD by potentially giving him more control over what happen to the land etc
