KM's constant blethering about the misquote just reminds me of Father Ted saying "The money was just resting in my account".
Don't give them any ideas! They'll probably just start answering every question with "That would be an ecumenical matter". Arguably that's a better response than their latest statement but what the hell!
I really can't believe that it's still up there after 16 hours. What on earth happened when Mel B came into work this morning:
"Hi guys, anything interesting happen last night". "Err we posted a match report of the Kent Senior Cup, and a statement that the St Truiden Two made us post". "Well it show's they are listening, I told them they should be more communicative, let's have a look". "Actually, it might not be that good, I think you should have checked it first". "WHAAAAAT!!!!! Quick I need to update my profiles on LinkedIn, Husdon's, Reeds and Fish4 - I've got to get out of this madhouse".
Stan has been very supportive as have most of the Talksport team , same goes for sky sports. Don't seem to be getting the same support from the BBC it seems , no wonder I guess when their phone in has KM's friend working on it.
That is massively incorrect and you obviously don't listen to Radio London Sport. 606 long ago became irrelevant for any serious discussion about football.
Radio London Sport were hopeless on Sunday.
Well I am really surprised. Who was there, do you know? Phil Parry has almost crossed the line in some of his comments on our behalf. Just follow him on Twitter, youll see he has decided to make it his duty to stick up for fans.
Louis, who did well - but was barely used. Presenters much more interested in protest at Aston Villa.
Oh dear!! This is a classic example of the perils of 'drafting by committee' where everyone involved insists on their rant being included in the final statement. Meire's pathetic attempt to redefine the word 'weird' to try and justify her Dublin debacle is toe-curling. She thought that over there she was among like minded individuals and NEVER suspected that her comments would come to light. The result is a disjointed and incoherent criticism of the very people they purport to want to support the club. Although many (including me) will not renew their season tickets, the majority will do so. One had only to see the numbers who remained in their seats on 74 minutes, black and white scarves notwithstanding, to realise that they will renew next season regardless of the division the club is in. They would renew and turn up to watch even if Charlton's first team consisted of the under15s. As seems increasingly likely to be the case under these lunatics.
I'd renew my season ticket regardless of the division in which we found ourselves and regardless of the composition of the team, as long the people in charge had some idea of what they were doing. This obviously excludes the Rat and Pinocchio.
Worst thing the club could do is take the statement down. It has to stay. Nor should they attempt to clarify that Roland did not say those things but that it was an appallingly badly structured release which caused the confusion. Nobody cares, they have had their fun.
My advice would be to reach out to the few journalists that still care and explain the mistake with the quotes, off the record, and otherwise do what they are so brilliant at ... go to ground and say nothing.
My advice to Mel B would be to formulate an escape plan, quickly, before you become tarnished by this PR howler.
You can pick a massive hole in every element of that statement too.
Dear Fans,
(At least he calls us fans)
Last Sunday, some individuals did not come to The Valley to watch the game and support the team, but came to create disorder on the pitch and interfere with the players and the game. Disorder which is, allegedly, needed to drive change in ownership and management.
(Well nothing else has prompted meaningful dialogue or respect)
Whom would they expect the club to be sold to? How long would a sales process take? Is it easier to sell the club when it is in League One rather than Championship?
(Yes but we know you have a buyer that you have declined to speak to. You have also told us of approaches by other potential buyers. It is easier to sell if you are open to the idea than not)
Some individuals seem to want the club to fail. This is a confused approach, since following this logic leads to exactly the opposite of what we all want: staying in the Championship.
(We want a club with a future- we don’t want to stay in the championship only to go down next season due to the incompetent way the club is run. The people you think want the club to fail, love it more than you. They actually go and watch the team, in my case I have been going since I was a young boy, I am a season ticket holder and have been for many years, I am a Valley Gold member (though not for much longer), I had Valley Floyd Road played at my wedding, my son was christened at the Valley, I have a Charlton tattoo and Charlton pictures/signed shirts etc… on the walls of my house. Others will have their own histories, many more impressive than mine. I want you to fail and leave so the club can start to succeeed. We have seen enough to see you are toxic).
Allegations regarding the CEO are misrepresented* and are continuously used as a method to discredit and fuel personal abuse, hatred and with a risk to personal safety.
(CARD would not endorse any threat to an individual’s personal safety. That should be said before anything else. The whole interview should be judged in context. Before saying it was weird to shout, she made the point that fans only contribute a third of the income. The point was clear and is consistent with other messages she has given. People cannot be treated as idiots).
Although certain individuals tell you it does not happen, in recent weeks Roland Duchatelet has met the fans, the CEO has met with several different groups of fans and the communications team have attended several fans meetings. We will continue these meetings and constructive dialogue with fans.
(What fans – certainly none of these meetings have been well publicised. The fans representatives have been ignored when they have tried to have a dialogue. Fans now report that their e-mails are ignored- even e-mails from sponsors).
We have 9 games left in which we have to get 6 points more than our competitors.
The team just got 7 points out of 3 games.
(And a terrible return from the previous games, due to some crazy decisions. We have started games with teams so weak, they have no chance from the beginning. We have gone into the season with insufficient cover for key positions which is short-sighted, and has been pointed out even when we were doing ok. The appointment of a Belgian third division manager was an insult, and it was clear at an early stage that he was out of his depth. He was sacked far too late in the day and that has been a massive factor in our poor points total. Much more of a factor than the fans).
We still have the chance to make it happen with the support of the fans until the very last game. We must believe it is still possible. Every football fan knows the 12th man is a crucial factor in the success on the pitch. (On the day fans protested, it was the first time the team has won at home since Sheff Wednesday last Year. The supporters have a motto – support the team, not the regime).
Worst thing the club could do is take the statement down. It has to stay. Nor should they attempt to clarify that Roland did not say those things but that it was an appallingly badly structured release which caused the confusion. Nobody cares, they have had their fun.

Now some Lifers will selflessly offer to help her hide out, following her escape.
It could take some time before they'd believe it would be safe for her to emerge, not long, no more than a few years....
Sky SSN spoke with Shay Given and Gerry Francis in the studio at 1030 about general unrest within football at present. Gerry took a general neutral stance but understood the need for protesting, providing it is legal; also recognised the importance of fan/club relationship.
Shay Given thought we went too far with regard to the funeral possession but didn't offer a viable method of protest.
Weird, why would Given object to the funeral procession? It had no effect on the game or the players

The final paragraph is a worry.
People need to go the whole hog with a boycott of season ticket renewal. Do not wait till the last minute to cause disruption to whatever disjointed plans the Belgians have.
My biggest worry is that it's KM's work rather than RD. If it's KM then she could/should be fired but then we will get another KM and RD will get a stay of execution. Please, please let it be RD's rant.
Well, Chicago Addick says it's all the senile old goat's work. Which would make sense. Like all rich nutjobs, he thinks he knows best. Always.
"I have it on very good authority that the comms team tried for a good hour to convince Roland Duchatelet that this statement written by his fair hand was a very, very bad idea. The owner forced the issue and it was relayed unedited onto the club’s website. The comms guys by not promoting it on the club’s social media outlets tells its own story. {…} I believe Katrien Meire was against it also."
Is this insinuating Roland wrote it because I'm certain he did not.
Hey @Dazzler21 what makes you certain it was not written by him? As other posters have said, there's good evidence that it was, so it would be interesting to know why you suggest he didn't. Do you have some inside knowledge to spill?
I am certain it was written by Meire, probably with Roland's approval. It reads exactly as she speaks.
I do not think he would be going over and over the 'weird' point.
You have to ask, what the hell is the so called Head of Communications doing????
Writing her resignation letter I would imagine.
Edit: someone said it.
I mean, wow. Just, wow. I'm open mouthed. On Sunday there was an acknowledgement that the club needed to work with the fans and how sad they were it had come to this. Just 2 days later they're angrily ranting at us.
Well this has made up my mind. No chance I'm buying a season ticket, and all bets are off regarding the protests.
I said to Mel Baroni yesterday that the club had always had a choice whether they had this ridiculously well resourced community of supporters as a force for the club or against them. They consistently draw up battle lines.
Get ready M. Duchatelet - I would caution you ain't seen nothing yet.

Isn't he from rural Ireland? Funerals are taken very seriously there. Could be that, a response dictated by culture.

I keep thinking 'what could be worse than the management and squad we've had this year' and they keep providing examples. Anyone checkec to see if RD is available to expand his views on what happened sunday. I revkon he's got more stuff to get off his chest. C'mon, someone give the guy a microphone, unlimited time and no script. Tell it how it is Big Man.

Culturally, isn't it massively disrespectful in south-east London for a senile European to take over a football club and run it into the ground?
"My proposition would be a unique (meaning 'not unique at all') kind of football fan experience {…} to see the next stars of the Premier League, which we will have play (meaning 'lose') for Charlton’s first team and probably (meaning 'definitely') sell (meaning 'sell for not very much') on to Premier League. {…}.

I'm speechless, I've so many questions I would like answered but don't know where to start or finish. May be it would best if I used the new email address for fans but something tells me emails to this would at best go to the clutter folder, at best with an automated reply if lucky. So I wont bother, they are not interested in communicating with the supporter who apparently only make up one third of all income. Although that third will, after we go down, become bigger proportionately while actually going down in value. Its very unusual for a CEO/owner/prat to throw their toys out in public. My advice, (if already not given), "when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging."
Also the some people want the club to fail bit, RD/KM/RD please try to keep up WE have failed miserably, its March the table doesn't lie.
To be honest, it sounds like Roland to me. He was obsessed with defending KM's comments (and generally being a patronising arrogant arsehole) in those really fucking unique interviews he did with Cawley a few weeks ago...
My own thoughts expressed in an email sent earlier to the T20K Group:-
"Having just read the latest Club response to the current situation, it is evident to me that, on the back of a victory and and the previous statement expressing sadness at the fans actions, they are looking to divide the supporter base and alienate the protestors even further.
I think longer term they would like the 'negative' supporters to go and be replaced by a more compliant ones supportive, or rather indifferent to their running of 'their' Club.
I do think that, on the back of this latest development, those in the T20K group should seriously reconsider the role played in dealing with Club. Surely you must realise that you are being used as a vehicle to promote that they have an open dialogue with the fans whilst they ignore offers to talk to CAST, of whom I am a member. I do appreciate some of the excellent initiatives being mooted by the target group, but we are in a crisis of identity here and T20K should consider the bigger picture. Remember we were all told Roland does it his way and the fans have to accept that. Well I for one, and I'm not alone, do not.
We all want what is best for this Club. How can such a statement as this latest effort be made with any other intention than to further alienate and divide fans. It is ill considered nonsense and I can only concur with those who have stated that it is only through relegation(s) that we will find the suitable level of competiton befitting of our incompetent management team and ownership, and not the fans who deserve far better.
