I don't like the Regime and I think our CEO is a joke whose position is untenable, but you cannot deny that there appears to have been a change in strategy on the pitch which, imo is a change in the right direction
I think there has been a change in operations on the pitch ie British manager allowed to pick own players from Britain.
But that is not the same as the overall strategy for the firm.
We were told by KM that the strategy was to break even while offering customers the chance to see the premier league players of the future.
We've not seen or been told anything to say that that strategy has changed. It might have but since KM can't admit she or Roland ever got anything at all wrong she won't say "we've changed" the operational aims or the strategic aims.
The other factor is that we've all been here before. Last season there were some purchases, Ba, Bergdich, Bauer, Kashi, Cebellos and Sarr and the loan of Makinok during the summer and many fans, and often the same fans, also hailed this as a fresh start, a change in strategy and a new dawn and so good reason to back the team and to shout down the so called "moaners".
Reality hit when it was clear come September that the squad was left very thin and when no replacements were sort for Kashi. We started the seasons with two (2) centre halves of whom one was Sarr which meant Diarra, much needed in midfield, played most of the season (when fit) at the back.
This season it MIGHT be different. Slade MIGHT be allowed to build a sensible squad not reliant on the untried kids or untried overseas players. Or he MIGHT not. So far, so good but there is a long way and a lot of work to go.
And remember that all that work and change is just to get Charlton back to what is a normal situation for 99% of English clubs. It's not a new, different or innovative "strategy" just a forced reversion to tried and tested methods as a result of constant failure.
Get the too early to tell yet point Henry, how about agreeing we are currently trying a different approach to ending up with a squad short on talent and resources, and hey ho, we might even end up with a fair to middling squad as a result.

I agree with that. More power to Russell Slade's elbow.
But then again don't we all expect slightly more than being fair to middling in the 3rd tier? I certainly do.
Despite only signing a contract extension to 2018 in May, Watford's Ben WATSON is refusing to play for the club again whilst he tries to force through a move to League One movers and shakers Charlton.
South London born WATSON always looked at Charlton with envy when he was at Palace, wishing they would come in and save him from the humiliation of playing for 'The Nigels'. It now seems that the opportunity to play with Ba, Ceballos and Bergdich in a 4 player midfield Dynamo is just too much of an opportunity to turn down.
Mr Duchatelet who is about to save £40K per week on Gudmonsson's salary and bring in £8M of transfer fees has offered Ademola Lookman and £1M in part exchange. It is felt by the 'YouTube' scouting team that Lookman is just too small for League One football.
The deal should be wrapped up within a week although the club are waiting for 'RedHenry' to get back from holiday to break the story.
When asked about the deal WATSON said he was excited by the opportunity asend wanted to thank Meire for changing his life.
Burnley are closing in on their first signing of the summer but the deal for winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson may not be completed before the Clarets head to France next week.
Gudmundsson has just returned from Euro 2016 with Iceland - who knocked England out of the competition - and currently plays for League One side Charlton Athletic.

apparently we were trying to sign Watson last year instead of ba, bergditch and kashi - oh no, sorry - we had a different strategy then, that can't be true.
Buxton 32 and now Crofts 32. Both with lots of experience but both free agents who wouldn't cut it should we get promoted. More short termism from the club ?
The club is likely to bring in fees close to £8 million and get some big wages off the books.
Surely we ought to be looking to sign players aged 26 - 27 looking to go places.
I think we've seen our three "marquee" signings and looks likely that replacements for those that leave will be ageing free agents and journeymen.
Sounds very familiar to me.
thing is that players who can do a job in League 1 might not be good enough/suitable IF/when/praying hopefully we get back to the Championship and vice versa.. this mistake has been made before, signing unsuitable players on long term deals .. Slade is an experienced campaigner and he knows who and how he wants to play .. as to 'investing' money in transfer fees .. again .. I don't expect any owner let alone a careful man such as Duchatelet to spend money like a pissed matelot on shore leave ... we've been broke before, we don't want it again ..

Simply - you sign over 30 year olds on a one year contract with an option to renew and a bonus if promoted.

Leaves us with Hendo and Pope with Mitov and Philips ready to step up.
Glad to see the "strategy" has changed and we aren't let players go to other network clubs
