  • Interesting that they claim we won't bring another winger in.

At the moment we have JBG, Lookman, Harriott, Holmes, Bergdich and Ceballos, but 3-4 of those will probably be leaving by the end of the window. Last season we had to play Motta and Suk-Young on the wings at times, 2 full backs on short term/loan deals. Unless they believe a couple of the youngsters are good enough as cover
  • I wonder why the Ajose deal is taking so long..?

Charlton will nudge a deal for Nicky Ajose nearer to completion this week.
The Addicks agreed a fee with Swindon Town for the 25-goal striker on Thursday afternoon. Boss Russell Slade wants Ajose, 25, to partner new boy Lee Novak in a deadly double act.
Charlton are understood to have already done plenty of legwork on the Ajose transfer but it is likely to take until the end of this week to finalise

    It's not
  • I'm sure Nicky Ajose isnt our only throw of the dice.

Fail to sign him and I'm sure we'll just bid for another Striker in the leagues... Is called having options

The fact we have not followed up interest in Agard means we are pretty sure in signing Ajose

Or it could be that it was Novak or Agard.

Or it could be that the club is being over confident.

Or it could be that Agard wasn't interested.

Or it could be that you're right....

even a broken clocks right twice a day.
  • Milan Lalkovic has refused an new Contract from Walsall and will leave the club.

No links to Charlton but wouldn't mind us signing him

The big thing is convincing Ajose to sign for us now .... If he thinks he can get a move to championship he might want to hold off for a few weeks

If thats the case then am not going to be too bothered if he doesnt sign.

Don't ever like Charlton being used

Slade tends to use only one winger who cuts in, as his most creative player, like Dean Cox at Orient.

I agree with you on that one.

    Must be a good sign.

Like we were pretty sure that we'd get Wilder you mean?

Katrien bashing is getting as boring as the Colin bashing.

As soon as it went public that we'd agreed £800k for Ajose there's no doubt that alerted lots of clubs with more financial muscle than us.

Would be surprised if it came off now so probably need to set sights elsewhere.

Hopefully he turns out to be the next Stevie May and is a complete flop

Squirrel face deserves, and has earnt all the s*** she gets.

Nobody likes people that tell whoppers(amongst many other things).

But how does that work? Does he do a Powell and play someone like Pritchard on the other flank?
  • Ajose is the new Delort.

  • Being told that Ajose to Birmingham is looking more likely. Birmingham matched the fee and offered more wages.

@BillyHendricks7 No. Don't believe that to be the case at all.
  • Ajose is the new Delort.

    No, he's not.

Could be the reason Swindon made it public that a fee had been agreed to turn it into an auction ??

That would tally with the way Lee Power (yes, that Lee Power..) goes about his business.

Don't see a problem with it to be honest.

If the player has made it clear he wants out then Power is just ensuring he gets the best price for his player.

It's not really an auction if you've agreed the fee

It's not really an auction if you've agreed the fee
It is if other clubs are aware of the agreed fee and make a higher offer

Dont really need to make a higher offer though.

Birmingham are going to offer the same amount as us as they know it'll be accepted... They cant turn round to Swindon and say: We'll offer you £900k yet you've now got to tell Charlton that their bid isnt good enough.

It would only be an auction if the selling club refused the offered bid and claimed it didn't meet their valuation of the player.

By accepting our bid, it's in our/Ajose's hands as if we agree a contract then he will sign for us regardless of any other bids being made/accepted

So, in short, nothing like an auction
  • the auction will be the signing on fee, wages and bonuses negotiated with the agent I guess
