I think we will come good and put a run together but I'm fearing it could be too little too late come the end of the season. On paper inc the keeper we have the best back 5 in the league but shouldn't be conceding every game like we are. Slade deserves atleast a season with his squad
I agree with wee Stewie G, I think the season is going to improve, and yes wine has been taken but I think top six is very achievable.
Reading back I was a bit brash. Didn't necessarily mean immediately get him gone Monday, more so if let's say we pick up another maybe 4-5 points in our next 5. Surely at that point alarm bells have to ring?

Whatever people think of Slade, it's evident that he's trying to find stability and build a solid team on solid foundations - so he's gone back to basics in order to get that foundation right. That means stopping the midfield getting over-run and the defence offered some protection - okay, it's not fast paced buccaneering football, but very decent goal scoring opportunities are still being created, if not taken.
Having got the defensive play more or less right in the past 2 away games, he'll know he'll now need to focus on creating more opportunites and converting those chances into goals. One step at a time.
The table may show Charlton in 16th place, but the table also shows us only 3 points from a 5th placed play off position. It would be lunacy to now sack the manager, just because some people expected us to be already running away with the League.
If you're content to stay in SBL1 then guarantee Slade a season. I'd give him autumn to get us in play-off mode. We don't look strong enough to to do it automatically. The late collapse against AFC worrying in that there was no plan B. Hopefully lone striker syndrome not a permanent feature away from home as it will be pointless to do the travelling in support. Win the next two homers and the gloom will lift but we've got to start pressing much harder than hereto.
Wasn't particularly excited when we appointed him but we really didn't have a great deal to choose from. Most people in football know that these people are idiots, hence Wilder turned us down. The fact that, by joining us, Slade was accepting a third consecutive position working for lunatic owners set alarm bells ringing with me. Still too early to condemn him, but doesn't look promising. Don't know what the answer is though, if and when he does fail - we either get lumbered with another network numpty, or we get another British manager from the small pool who are willing to work for Roland. For that reason, l would urge people to lay off Slade and make sure the anger continues to be directed at the owner - we're not going anywhere but down until he sells up, regardless of who's running the team.

Personally would like to see Thomas Driesden given the job. We might not get promoted but we'd absolutely piss the Woolwich indoor 5-a-side league this winter.

I have never liked him and ever since he gave us the cold shoulder at Bury, I have disliked him even more. Additionally, he praised KM for the Declan Rudd transfer which angered me.
He might be an improvement but it's not a difficult challenge compared to the previous names.
Honestly, maybe the reason I dislike him is because he has offered KM and Roland the opportunity to show customers that they have changed their plans and have started listening to us.
I am very disappointed by how negatively he is setting the team up and I hope this improves as the team starts to work together and he has more trust in the defence.
He's still a quality player or two short in midfield which is why I guess he feels the need to load the midfield both away and for what he sees as tricky home fixtures.

Not good enough for promotion.
On paper this is one of the best teams in the division. Making sure they are set up correctly is, essentially, Slades main match day job. He isn't doing it correctly and he isn't addressing his mistakes during the game adequately.
One of the thoughts i had during this game was there was no direction, no real theme, no plan in terms of what we were trying to achieve - just 10 outfield players playing individually and trying to pass to another red shirt, as opposed to instinctively having a system and knowing where a team-mate was or should be - and then when we ran out of ideas, a big hoof to Magennis who would hold it up but eventually get shunted off the ball by force of numbers and having no-one to lay off to.

The most disapointing thing about this thread is that some people get excited that we are only a few points away from the play offs. Almost everybody is,ffs. Surely our aim should be top 2. One of the reasons, Charlton are going nowhere under Duchatelet & Meire is that they have neglected to have a balanced squad in any of the seasons under Duchatelet's ownership. The problem in this team is clearly the midfield. If you add at least one decent quality creative & energetic midfielder then Ajose has service and the team is looking a lot more balanced.

Blame for the squad and lack of options in the middle of the park needs to be placed squarely at Duchatelet's & Meire's door who have yet again underestimated what is required for the league that Charlton find themselves in. Duchatelet & Meire should not be allowed to say that they have given Charlton a British manager and deflect all the blame onto them for poor results. It is not just about who the manager is, they need to be properly supported and this is something that Duchatelet and Meire have singularly failed to do with any of their managers and coaches from Powell, Riga, Peters to Slade.
Everyone entitled to their view so fair enough, but for any Russell Out fans could you please answer; -who would you appoint instead, and would they come? -what would happen if they didn't win in their first 9 games, would you replace them?
Perhaps Slade thinks he has no chance getting promoted by being an attacking team as there is not enough quality. Is his theory that if the defence gets tighter we by playing together week in week out we can start to nick 1-0 wins more regularly. Just a thought.

Absoulutely clueless on tactics and substitutions. Only 2 wins in 9 games and no win in the last 5 games is not acceptable.
