I'm hoping we find a player from our youth ranks to save us, in the Lee Bowyer , Scott Parker mould!! Very very very wishful thinking I know!

You will be waiting a long time for that to happen. Good youngsters are at good clubs at a higher level. Lookman is good but no way is he top draw material.
As we all know the top teams know the names of every promising seven year old.
Our youth teams will also be on a downward curve under the management from this crazy mob.
  • Here's an idea! sell the fucking club to the fans and let's get Chris Powell and co back to drag this club out of the shit.

    I hope you're paying!
  • It's not just us supporters who are expecting more. Meire and Duchatelet are expecting a top six finish. Anything less is abject failure with a squad that Slade mostly put together. If he doesn't produce he will be sacked. Sure as god made little green apples.
  • I'm pretty sure JJ wants the job - I'd ask him whether he is a 1-0 or 3-0 manager and if he answers correctly, the job would be his. He couldn't do any worse. Unfortunately, I don't have the power to appoint, but Slade better get his finger out and try to use teh attributes he has. Tex and Botaka will be keuy to him keeping his job and he needs to use them a.s.a.p.Along with the other players that are above this level!
  • Like re-arranging the deck chair on the Titanic

PS Chris O'Loughlin for next boss. British but never played or coached in England, has managed in Belgium for the network.

    Currently between jobs
  • But more importantly what do EKA want with their tea next time

    He will be top drawer.
Sure its always a lottery , but not entirely sure how you work that out.
The academy runs its own show and has proved their quality over many years, from now and way way before the current owners rocked up.
Academy quality has nothing to do with clubs at a higher level - just brighter buildings, fancy lights, bigger car parks, more hi vis jackets and blokes in team tracksuits.
The joke is how the Premier league dictate. Creating money elitist ( not quality based) U18 categories to deciding U21 is now u23 (without any consultation), That is what will kill most academies at our level. That is what will stop you getting another Scott Parker . Different thread I think.

Good, good it's exactly this sort of record that makes him the man for my 30 years of consolidation in league one that I talked about on the post match thread. I appreciate Slade will be pushing on 90 by the end of the 30 years, so I'm prepared to accept apprentice Nugent carrying on the work in about 15 years.

Trust him to save his worst win ratio for us.
If we beat Rochdale this will be 27.27% , then win again 33.33%. Then he will be our hero.
  • Mowbray has gone! Says they don't have the right 'ingredients'. Perhaps Slade will do likewise if we dont win at the weekend? Leaving with a statement like Mowbray doesn't really harm his reputation as a manager.

He should be getting Leaving clubs like Coventry.

He only does draws at the moment.
  • My guess is that Slade was not given the obvious support needed to build a balanced squad.
On reflection, when he dug Louis out about 'patience' he might really have been talking to himself.
Perhaps Slade was told to be patient and the support would arrive, and he believed it.
It never happened and we are a flawed football team because of it, and Slade knows it. His patience wasn't rewarded, any more than ours.
So now Slade is faced with the task of trying to make the best of it, and this is where the current debate has settled. can Slade, or should Slade be doing better with what resources he has?
I wish he could, but he is not a magician, and he does not do inspirational either. We lack drive desire and energy as a whole unit.
I am intrigued that the player who most has these qualities is Ricky Holmes, who wasn't really a Slade signing as far as I can tell, and in Josh Maginnis Slade has got in at least one player with similar drive to Holmes, Pearce is another, and Amber Rudd. However it is not enough and all seems a rather haphazard assemblage. We are a team with no real identity or style, and it looks as if Slade is not able to create one out of what he has got, both in the players, and in his personal skills.
I don't really blame Slade for the position he is in. Slade is Slade, he means well, he tries hard, he is articulate, has had to take a crash course in level 1 diplomacy, the cracks have only shown occasionally ('patience', RJ 'apologised to me' and a few other bits) but he is honest enough and doing what he can, he does not strike me as a Prince of Darkness style club employee like Tony Keohane for example.
Slade does not particularly deserve the sack because he is the current manifestation of regime uselessness, because if not Slade who else?
Unless there is a magician manager waiting out there.

If only we'd won another 20 matches last season then we'd be in the Premier League now. Then Karel Fraeye would be our hero.

  • One thing is for sure;

Slade is now a manager under fire (already) and looked upon very negatively.

Some managers, with a bit more time can change things and put it all back on the right train.

    He's made mistakes.

    Can he pull it together?

I f*cking hope so. He needs to
  • Oh look we are being overrun in midfield because my central midfield is hobbling about on Zimmer frames.

I know, I'll put some more slow players on and live with 1 up front, even at home, against rubbish teams.

And that for me has been the most depressing development of the season so far.
  • Shit useless bastard. FUCKOFF

It's fair to say he has thus far not been up to it.
  • Leyton Orient currently without a manager. Off you go Russ!
  • How much longer have we got to put up with Slade?
  • The bloke is absolutely clueless. He doesn't seem to give a shit.

Just like the people that employ him. One and the same.
  • Slade doesn't have a clue. Man management he just doesn't have. Totally useless.
