The first half was the poorest half I've seen from us all season (which is saying something) but the reaction from some fans at half time including some serious should know betters in their 50s and beyond was embarrassing and the subsequent stand off with the players was horrible to witness. Rudd and Pearce looked seriously pissed off and Lookman gave a bit back although I think he said "calm down" which was fair enough. I know they were poor but how is it going to be beneficial giving players that much abuse when there is 45 minutes left? Despite the abuse, the second half was a bit better and, if Ajose takes both penalties, we might have nicked it although that would have been a huge smash and grab. Notable that there were no celebrations with the fans (that I witnessed anyway) when we did score.
I then had the pleasure of walking back to the station with the Charlton youth punching cars and abusing the police and station staff which perfectly topped off the afternoon. I'm definitely getting old.....
Although I disagree with the over the top half time reaction, you can't escape the fact that we did not play well again and the prospect of going on a winning run looks pretty remote at the moment.
Slade is useless but the players need to step up and grow some bollocks. Getting pelters for the first half performance was fully justified. They are supposed to be some of the divisions better players. Time for them to stop shirking and show it.
The most undeserved point ever and the ref may as well have been wearing red - it took us two pens to get the job done.
Fights in the away end in the first half, fights with stewards after the goal, a chair thrown over the scaffolding from the away end into where the away fans were exiting, and reports of aggro with Gills after the game.
Just very depressing, it doesn't feel very Charlton.
Hope Meire was squirming next to her Gills counterparts...
Beers before were fun though and we're about to recommence that in Rochester, so not all bad!
Utter crap first half. Strolling around the pitch, making Emanuel Thomas and frank nouble look good. Second half much better with two strikers - who'd have thought it. Nelson played very well in goal for them, I thought their keeper going off would help us, but evidently not. Ajose looked lively when he came on.
Our two penalties were good calls by the ref, Solly pretty much throttled for the first and blatant handball for the second. Gills fans seemed pretty upset with the ref but hard to see from the away end if they were justifiably annoyed.
Quite a negative atmosphere, not surprising but sad to see fans insulting each other. Bring on the post-RD era so we can get back to some positivity.
They had a cast iron pen appeal turned down 2nd half, we were very very lucky today.
Completely not connected as a team whatsoever.
Just 1 example: 1st half Fox defending ball with player back to goal in final third, wingback ran straight past him and took the ball . Lookman just standing there... Got pelters from Fox and Pearce, Lookie shrugged turned round and trotted off.
Great drink before game, should have got back on the train and come back home at 3.
Got wet, watched some turgid football, they ran out of beer 10 mins before half time ( I assume that someone told Gillingham that 2500 customers were coming?), directed for a 20 minute walk back to station when it takes 5 mins normally.
we used to say" it's the hope that kills you", don't even hope much now....
First half: timid, let up for it Gills make all the running and looked as though we needed a bloody visa to visit their box. Magennis fought manfully with sod all support.
Second half: surprise surprise Gills weren't actually very good (as their position below us suggests). Amazingly playing two up front gave us a bit of impetus and a contest broke out. Both pens were pens. Nice to see the tosser who saved the first one so upset when his antics failed to stop the second.
Verdict: Russel, if we stop constantly worrying about what our opponents might do to us, we might just find them out in their own half.

And as it was my car getting punched and jumped on I was not best pleased.
Didn't go but this sounds awful. Is this how it's going to be with every away performance vis-à-vis the fans behaviour? My God, what have these Belgians done to our club? Protests apart, really don't see the point in going anymore until this cancer has been removed from CAFC.
Basically I can go to Travis Perkins and buy everything needed to build a house, but as I'm a not a builder I haven't a clue how to do it ! It appears that Russ has bought all the things needed to build a promotion push, but hasn't a clue how to do it !
Crap football, crap manager, crap owners and today crap behaviour by fans but then the way these idiots have destroyed this club it's almost inevitable. Depressing day.

Apart from ensuring a properly functioning midfield which is at Duchatelet, Meire & Drieson's door. Slade needs to find better solutions to the midfield dysfunction , but as per every season, Meire & Duchatelet have put together a weak team. Any manager would struggle when Crofts is one of the main midfield players.
Slade is poor but it is important not to forget where the real dysfunction at the club lies. Charlton as a club will not recover until Duchatelet, Meire, the SMT & Drieson are gone from the club.
Got a feeling that the lad who was attacked by stewards last week was a first guy today to be dealt with by stewards on the pitch. Another lad was apprehended by stewards after the game and I went to ask them why he was apprehended only to be dealt with and advised in a respectful/ professional manner.
Worst first half I've ever seen. Much better in the second half and should of won. Referee was absolutely shocking . Thought they had a stonewall turned down. Only one person to blame for us not winning games and thats Russel.
Oh and fox was at fault for their goal . Again
Rubbish comment from the Fox hater. Bradley Dack was a midfielder I seem to recall........mmmmm who was tracking him ?

Home support supine and in freefall while away we seem to be turning into Millwall. What have we become.

The gap between Magennis and the rest of the team is definitely a problem. Alongside the negativity of Slade, the poor midfield and Slade's inability to address the difficulty in any coherent way.

The fox hater haha. He got out jumped , well actually I don't think he even did jump but his aware of someone he was meant to be marking was shocking . Sorry if it offends you people criticising shit footballers
lookman was terrible today also . You want to tell me different about that too?
Absolute dross! All our problems stem from centre mid. Until this is sorted we are going nowhere. We are consistently outplayed in midfield by bang average teams. Fans were very quiet today. Am I the only person that thinks the (excitable) fans who ran behind the goal for holmes's penalty didn't help him?
We get a penalty then 50 to 60 utter idiots line up behind the goal like 7 year olds (Apologies to 7 year olds). Then pick fights with the stewards and posture and gesture to the old bill until one copper pulled out his truncheon. l don't suppose that that put Holmes under any more pressure eh!
Basic issue in th 1st half that no one gets around Magennis and with 3 in centre midfield no runners.
Lookman's touch and decision making poor today which put us under pressure.
Not long back. I'd forgotten how much of a 'hole Priestfield is. Is the away stand the longest 'temporary stand' in history ? The seats were so worn that most of them left crap all over those that bothered to sit on them. First half disgraceful. Russell Slade really has not got a clue. He has the nucleus of a relatively good team but either chooses the wrong players, the wrong formation or a concoction of the 2. It seems the poison from above is sinking in to the players as both Fox and Lookman, particularly looked totally disinterested today. Konsa had a good game but in truth, if the club want to get out of this division Tex should have been playing, even if he wants to go. It's pretty simple, tell him he has a way out but he needs to show any perspective buyer what he brings to the team. Win win. Second half was an improvement but we didn't deserve anything from the game. Chasing the match from the second half, RS made a positive substitution changing JJ for Ajose who looked up for it. Other than Holmes and Josh we had little or no attacking intent. To then take off Josh for Novak it really demonstrated that RS has no idea. Surely Lookman, who had been relatively ineffective all game, should have been subbed? I might get criticised for saying this but I was not surprised to see some of our support behave as they did. Following and enjoying watching Charlton takes something special these days. We need to be united in removing our unwanted owner and his sidekick from the club unfortunately, it seems we have too many fractions within now. Loved the fly by ad from CARD, well done.
According to the official site the last question to Slade by the interviewer for us said Crofts played really well and put in a big performance. Are we talking about the same Crofts here? Seems from other posts he was his same usual crappy sideways self.
What are the chances of Slade playing 4-4-2 from kick off with Ajose and Mag up top? NA was crying out for a creative centre mid and now he's got one in Fred. Play with lookman and Holmes on the wings. Bring JJ on with 15 to go for Crofts. Simple.
Also I think we should put it to Slade in facts. 3 wins in 14, 1 win in 12. He mentioned 5pts from 9, as if it's some sort of upward curve. The curve has been very, very level for a long time now

Gillingham is a weird place, we had a high number of knobs in our stand and the football was shocking.
First half genuinely worst I've ever seen Charlton play. Speechless.
Completely depressing really so can't be arsed to say anymore apart from as Joe said the ref was man of the match.
