Press conference at 9.30am today - Bowyer's first as permanent manager. Could face some interesting questions!

"Lee, how do you take your novichok? Milk? Sugar?"

Don't think there's much in it.
Russians are looking to get out of anything UK, not jump in.
Why did he jump from Arsenal?

“In relation to comments made in national newspapers recently I wanted to clarify my position. Having recently, reluctantly, sold my shares in Arsenal Football Club, I am determined to leave a legacy in English football. That being said I have not yet made a formal offer to purchase Charlton Athletic Football Club but you can never say never.”

    Usmanov Statement

Feel free to give me a whooosh but, is that actual statement genuine?

    He’s not Russian - he’s from Uzbekistan

He left because the majority shareholder, Stan Kroenke, would not invest more money to make Arsenal competitive again

Seems a coincidence that the story is the same day as meeting with the EFL?

    He's a good pal of Putin's though.
  • Abramovich trying to flog Chelsea , so maybe they’ll be involved in a bidding war for us and Roly will get his £77m

And it's the day after Burt Reynolds passed away and, as we all know, Burt Reynolds is an anagram of "BlundeR story".

Haven’t read the posts on here recently, sounds like it’s already been said. Heard this morning Usmanov in and bringing Everton players on loan. That’s all I know atm

Any idea how far gone talks are Henry?
  • ‘The Mirror understands....’

    Yeah righty’o

Redhenry understands too, which is good enough for me.
He said he’d heard this morning, which could just mean the person tht told him picked up a Mirror. I’d love it to be true but the story looks like a page filler.
And it wouldnt be the first time a journalist had constructed a "story" from what he has read on Charlton Life. As you imply, there is nothing in the article to suggest the journo has any link to Usmanov.

Why does the journo need a link to usmanov for it to be true or not?

    We’re doing a Bournemouth!

Darren Lewis is pretty senior at the Mirror, so wouldn’t put his by line on anything.

And £600m on us gets you a lot, £600m at Everton gets a couple of seasons of fun

The club didn't meet EFL - it was an internal EFL board meeting with Charlton supposedly 'high on the agenda'.

For sometime now I thought that Usmanov’s name would turn up in the mix, whether as a part of the Ozzie takeover or as a flying solo prospect. I said it in this thread on more than one occasion(along with one or two others).....it just seemed to make sense to me.
I hope and pray it turns into reality and that brighter days are on the horizon.

    UP THE ADDICKSKI’S!

This is a snippet of what I already knew about the place, will look into it and do some research for more info now, guys. -

    - Uzbekistan is a Central Asian nation and former Soviet republic.

    - The official name of the country is the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    - It is bordered by Kazakhstan to the north, Tajikistan to the southeast, Kyrgyzstan to the northeast, Afghanistan to the south and Turkmenistan to the southwest.

    - The official language is Uzbek.

    - It is the 56th largest country in the world by area with 447,400 square kilometers (172,700 square miles).

    - Tashkent is the capital and largest city of Uzbekistan. It’s known for its many museums and its mix of modern and Soviet-era architecture.

    - Uzbekistan is one of two doubly landlocked countries in the world (that is, a country completely surrounded by landlocked countries), the other being Liechtenstein.

    - The physical environment of Uzbekistan is diverse, ranging from the flat, desert topography that
comprises almost 80% of the country’s territory to mountain peaks in the east.

    - The highest point in Uzbekistan is the Khazret Sultan, at 4,643 meters (15,233 feet) above sea level.

    - Uzbekistan has 2 national parks and 9 nature reserves.

    - Zaamin National Park is the oldest nature preserve in Uzbekistan, created in 1926 as Guralash Nature Preserve on the northern slopes of the western part of Turkestan Range, in the valleys of the rivers Kulsoy, Guralash, Baikungur, and Aldashmansoy. Total area is 156 squar kilometers

    - Uzbekistan has 5 UNESCO world heritage sites.

    He’s got an exit plan
  • For god's sake. I'm not even going to bother getting my hopes up because what will probably happen is he'll think about a bid, will look into the books and realise he's being charged whatever stupid number million quid it is now to take over a club that has dodgy paperwork going back to the spivs and decide he can't be arsed with the hassle of trying to extract sense from madness. I hope I'm wrong but I've been hurt before.

If Redhenry has heard it I doubt it’s just from the paper. Would be a surprising move but I would imagine he will spend money. Could be exciting times

Borat didn’t like Uzbekistan. This worries me greatly.
  • He has his own money unlike the Spivs

He likes and knows football unlike rrow- Lund.

    Tashkent sounds like Kent
