Good to see that he didnt think it was a foul on Proctor either, didnt think Robinson was trying to get us to kick it out and I hate to say we shouldnt have (and I'll be saying the same if the boot is on the other foot at some stage this season) - The bloke wasnt suffering from life threatening injuries (i.e. whack to the head) so no reason for it to be stopped because in addition he wasnt in an awkward position on the pitch, i.e. the game had to be stopped for Kashi because he was laying in the middle of the goal!!
One aspect I do take from this game though is the fact that Southend managed to lose 5-0 against this lot... How they did that I'll never know!!

Lets get Oldham out the way first... they're gonna be a bugger next Saturday and are the real sort of team at this level who'll happily stick 11-men behind the ball to get a point against us i.e. the two results v Oldham last season are a perfect example of this.
Beat Oldham in similar fashion today and I'll think that we're in for a very good chance... a good September as a whole will be a good sign as have seen too many good starts in August that have pettered out

nothing to do with his accent I just find he talks a lot of shit. well, shit might be a bit harsh but he has a way where he tells everyone his opinion when a lot of the time it isn't necessary. last season was dreadful. this season slightly better but his bollox about they're doing it cos Charlton are on the up sums him up quite perfectly.
Pretty much every team have chances. It's all about taking them. Classic example being Plymouth away. They did and on that day we didn't . Sure it's about minimising theirs and maximising your own but on the whole I'm happy that we dominate posession and play attractive football. On that basis week for week the results should take care of themselves. Robinson has us set up to attack and create. It's unlikely in my opinion that this team are ever going to be watertight at the back. We're going to lose games as well as win plenty. Big bonus for me is that we look to be able to stand up to teams when required. Plenty of very big players in this league.

I followed this from the beach in Palamos. I can't believe I had the beach for this, but got to see the Plymouth game at the ground. Such is life I suppose. Anyway, who cares, that is a massive result. The Rotherham fans apparently felt everything went wrong today that went right against Southend, but just maybe that was the effect of our lads playing well. Anyway, two goals and a clean sheet is all to the good as is our first away win of the season at a ground where many of us would have been happy with a draw. I sincerely hope we can get a couple of deals done before the window closes, as we have the makings here of a team who could win promotion with a bit of luck, but we all know how injuries can kick in. If we don't bolster the squad a little, it'll be annoying to listen to those wo bemoan our bad luck injury wise when or if we drop points because we had to throw the kids in. All that for another day though, today we can bask a little on the back of that win, and it'd be nice if the Robinson aters could reel it in a bit. He may have an accent that some find irritating, and his interviews could well do with being shorter and tidier, but his job is to manage and at the moment he seems to have done a better job in the window than anyone since CP that time, and got the team playing and showing a bit of spirit and unity. This year they look horrid. So this means it comes down to whether CAFC are 10-1 to go up. I think we are 3-1 and thus to me a 10-1 bet is a very smart one. From a standpoint of expected outcome, that is worth a bet to me.
terrific all round performances from a fast developing team (us) .. Rotherham could/should have been 2 up before we scored .. Kashi ran the midfield, he is the de facto captain, Solly the 'figurehead skipper' .. The Millers are not too shabby a side but on this form we can beat anybody .. one worry .. we are quite a small team and lose a lot in the air in defence, however, the attacking prowess of Solly/Da Silva and the sheer bloody mindedness of Pearce alongside our terrific FBG probably make up for it .. I am well pleased and looking forward to a successful and interesting season
At the match, first game for me this season so was keen to see how the new additions were settling in as well as some of the old guard given some of the criticism that has been levelled at them in the opening matches of the campaign.
We started brightly with some neat passing but also some over elaboration at times notably from Kashi which nearly cost us playing a ball across the front of our own 18 yard box which my old sports master would have gone apoplectic over! Still this is the style of football KR wants and is much easier on the eye than a good old lump up the field. Talking of lumps The Millers (no not the one in Bexley village) had two lumps up front and the slightly smaller of the two must have had weak knees the way he kept going to ground albeit with a bit of help from Pearce most of the time.
Both he (Pearce) and the BFG stood firm and coped admirably snuffing out most danger. We had a couple of close shaves with six yard box scrambles when their resistance was broken otherwise Amos was an assured final line of defence. Solly was his old self and Da Silva is a class above this league making one solid back five.
After settling the quicker into the game and playing some pretty possession stuff we actually took the lead, from a (edit) JFC corner, through Bauer who picked his spot back across the goal. Once in front we controlled the game up to half time with the defence well shielded by Kashi but could we get a second after the break to make the 3 points safe?
Clarke is a very intelligent and tidy footballer, Holmes, and Fosu were always a thorn in the side of Rotherham and the game was quite open in the second half as the home side started at a brisker pace to try and restore parity. However we were having none of it, the defence continued to do their stuff, Solly was really up for it leading by example and Amos was confident coming and gathering crosses aimed at their target men exactly as KR wants him to and he passed this examination with flying colours, my man of the match.
Despite our neat possession game, our second came from build up play down the right, Holmes chipping the ball across for big Josh, who had grafted running the channels, to bury at the far stick 2-0 game over. The opposition knew they were well beaten and offered little threat in the 9 minutes of injury time a bit like the 90 that had gone before but take nothing away from the overall team effort and the bedrock the defence gave the more skillfull players to build on.
Great support from the travelling addicks who took me back to my youth with several revamped renditions of the Hermans Hermitts hit from the 60s of 'I'm into something good '. And you know what something tells me we might just be!
Oldham next week bring it on, onwards and upwards COYRs.

Thrashing the likes of Northampton at home is fun and all that, but it's away wins at places like Rotherham that get you promoted.
Never hit full stride in attack and Rotherham did have some chances, but then the opposition always has chances. We took ours, they didn't and we defended very well on the whole.
Pleased for Big Mag, I have a lot of faith in the big fella. He may not be the most clinical striker, but what a handful he is and his technique is underrated imo. I really believe he can be the main man, goals wise, that many doubt, albeit we will need to create the right kind of chances for him.
Amos dropped one cross under pressure right near the end, possibly while being fouled, but otherwise looked very solid and commanded his box very well.
They say you need to earn the right to play, well we can certainly play but teams will really have to go some to out work Holmes, Kashi, Clarke, JFC and Magennis - man they cover some miles between them and at least one of them always seems to there to pounce on a loose ball or receive a pass. Fosu is above average hardworking for a winger, but that lot make him look almost lazy.
The back 4 were generally solid dealing with their extra size, but I though Bauer in particular was superb and is my MOM. He was like a magnet for high balls and barely lost a header all afternoon, and the strength he showed to hold off his man for the goal and then direct a perfect header into the far corner was really excellent. From him to the point the ball entered the net was probably 16 or 18 yards, not exactly a tap in with your feet, let alone your noggin.
I found that showing almost more encouraging than last week's. long way to go but we're definitely heading in the right direction.
Just one question: how are Marshall and Reeves going to get into the team?
It's called a 46 game season and the 3 games a week/ double digit injury list is your answer. It also highlights the ridiculous anti Robbo posts last season.
