    Has he retired or summat?
noone knows, nothing new. Both sides debating he should be given the Lyle Taylor treatment or still be a club legend.

One day we may know but currently unable to answer the retirement questoin, i'd say 95% yes but a guess as nothing announced
  • @Ollywozere Now that the transfer window is shut, is there any chance of providing that update on Chris and why he refused to play at the end of last season?

I’m a bit behind on this thread, what has happened or been said?

I thought he did, my mistake if he didn't. This is exactly why an update is needed. Far too much confusion.

We understand he did refuse to play?
    What do you know Paul?

I THINK you are being pedantic above as Solly did not refuse to play at the end of the season.  His contract ended 30th June so technically was a free agent for the last 9 games of the season.  Whether the club would have extended his contract for 9 games is currently unknown.

He refused to extend his contract until the end of the season. So LB did not play him in the games he was eligible to play(until end of June). It could be argued that he did not refuse to play.

Where has this been said? He refused to play in the 3. Otherwise Bowyer wouldn't have said that Solly dittoed Taylor

Its not my information to give away and things may still be ongoing. But I know that someone on this thread has got it right with what happened - the story thats been put out is just one side of it though so is going to paint Chris in a bad light

As we've seen this summer with Charlton, its not always wise to make statements until everything has been cleared up hence why I reckon Chris is still silent on the matter

Bowyer has already said Solly didn’t want to play. What more is there to say ?
Because you've only heard Bowyer's side of events

If you were Solly and have been potentially docked wages or even dragged through the mud which you feel wasnt fair or right... What are you going to do?

I’d put my own side of the story out there cnuting of all and sundry who tried to Solly sully my name

  • Why is this conversation still rumbling on. The same fans who complain about a player like Solly, or Taylor not honouring their contract - or Doughty believing he should get a move away - don't have a word to say when a player from another club does the same to join us.
Yeah but no but the whole world is against us dontcha know ... refs , lino’s , EFL , the injury gods ...

Honour the contract that you signed?
Like I say, you're hearing one side of the story that is never going to speak favourably of the player

Because thats the angle that suits them

I pray you never go on Jury Service, you'll hear one side of the argument, claim the person is guilty and want to go home

Go public& tell you side of the story. It's a bit like being questioned and going "no comment". If it were me & what was said was a load of bollox then I'd stand up clear my name.......not lay low & say nothing.
Or you'd be seeking legal advice, especially if you've had wages docked when they shouldnt have been?

Fortunately in court, they present both sides of the story. It just seems odd not to have heard the 'other' side to this.

I was wondering if it was something very personal. But if so, I don't think Bowyer would have said it the way he did.

Just seems odd not to have had some kind of explanation after being told he didn't want to play. If Bow hadn't said anything, we might have just assumed he wasn't picked and been none the wiser.

Solly would be playing now if the Cobblers hadn't stuffed the Grecians back in June.

I heard he'd was happy to commit to 30th June but not for the additional six games. LB then dropped him in it by adding his name to the Taylor and Davis quote without clarification.

Get the feeling LB can be stubborn and not to be crossed.
Yeah I think Bowyer has the touch of Curbishley about him in that sense

Didnt Solly say at a Bromley Addicks meeting that he thought Bowyer was very honest as a Manager?

At the same time I think Bowyer has a lot to learn still and will still make the occasional mistake

    Neither of them are perfect

Its the one thing that baffles me to be honest.. I can only presume its not been resolved on Solly's side yet

At Chris Sollys age if he had come out and said I’m worried about those last six games because if I get injured I’m not going to get picked up by another club for another year of playing which is what I want. I would understand that. I would still feel he left us in the lurch a bit but I would understand it more. I even see Taylor’s viewpoint. Possibly last big move and he wanted to secure his future. Still let us down but I understand it. With CS ?

Curbs was the same wasn't he? Any strength can be overdone.
