  • As someone has already suggested, it sounds much like there is a PFA or legal process happening which precludes comment at this stage.

When the time is right, it will all come out in the wash.

Exactly and that was kind of the reason I decided to say what I knew.

I think all this speculation and fans disagreeing is wrong, its with the PFA, yes its taking ages but honestly do any of us know how long these things take.

I regretted everything I had said about Solly as soon as I was told, and haven't said anything since and as you say it will all come out when the time is right and the PFA are ready to release the statement on Sollys behalf or however it is done
  • Whole situation has been handled badly all round by the sounds of it.

Bit of managerial inexperience by Lee maybe, however he’s still massively in credit
  • All really a bit moot though. He was never going to play for us again. Matthew's had the right back slot & even if he got injured I reckon bowyer would have put Oshilaja there instead.

I personally don't get all the cloak & dagger stuff. Just come out & say what happened  - clear the air & move on.

Strange though that Solly is still without a club.
I don’t think it is moot though. Solly, just like Taylor got massively criticised for not seeing out his contract (rightly so if that’s the truth). However, a lot of that criticism would be unfair if there’s more to the story. The way it ended with Solly left a sour taste with many fans, be really harsh if that was unwarranted given his service beforehand.
  • Saw Chris with a mate in Starbucks at Bluewater on Friday so, clearly, he is still local. Resisted the urge to approach him and was sat too far away to earwig his conversation.

Well can you at least tell us what type of coffee he likes?

Why is it strange? He is an ageing full back with a knee condition.

Bit harsh. He’s actually ‘only’ 29 and was playing at Championship level last season so you would have thought he was worthy of some form of ‘pay as you play’ contract at League 1 level, at least. Unless, of course the knee has finally gone. If so, I would have expected some kind of retirement announcement by now.

I think it’s strange that he hasn’t even really been linked with a club. He’s only 29 and despite his knee problems I thought someone would have been interested. Even with Paulie’s revelations (which I’m grateful for) of yesterday it does seem like there’s more to the story.
  • Chris Solly is our Peter Kay.

A statement that just confirms this is in the hands of the PFA or solicitors is not, surely,  breaching any legal process.

Honestly if the club was in a legal dispute with our homegrown, testimonial earning former club captain I would be really surprised if there was no rumours/leaked information surrounding it.
    There is on here!  😀

Chris Solly was only at Charlton for ten years because for the last few years his injury record meant no other club wanted him, where is he now?
If he had not had the injury problems earlier he would have long ago left the club for more money like the majority of players.
Why are people still going on about this, move on, if Solly is so upset about what happened he should come out & give his version of events. In a few months he will be forgotten about.

You cant of been supporting Charlton long Clive if you think our fans can move on.

I’m still upset they sold Alan Campbell.

At least you don't go as far back as Billy Bonds who played 95 games for us and then went on to make another 663 appearances for the Hammers! Probably one of the best players never to win an England cap too.
Cried when he left. As a kid I just couldn’t understand how a player could leave like that.

The presence of the very good Matthews might have influenced everybody's behaviour in this saga.
Previous to that Djiksteel might have had an unsettling effect on matters.
Every manager we have had for the last 5 or 6 years hasn't picked Solly after Christmas.  We have had center backs, midfielders, aged Italian crocks and all sorts play there.  I honestly don't believe he was "injured" every time.

For the 1st time in a long time Solly had a very good full back in front of him.  The rest of the time it was make do and get by.

And more than 50 years on we still can't accept that we are and have always been a selling club. Now, though, we don't just sell a player of Bonds' quality but put on the market absolutely anyone we can get a fee for.

It's ok, he's just picked up a small knock in training. Should be back in 15 more years 🤣
