Do me a favour - no one forced her to say the things she’s said and done the things she’s done, whilst Roland hasn’t helped her, shes more than dug her own graveRob62 said:
Interesting to see this from someone who has first-hand experience of working with her, a lot more than most of the posters on here. While no one could deny she made some proper howlers while in charge, and it would be impossible to argue that she has done a good job under any metric, I think it's pretty clear that she was put in an impossible situation from day one.

Well this is a bit of a shocker, isn't it? A few observations though:
On Katrien at Charlton.
1. Katrien was a human shield, nothing more and nothing less IMO. She was there to be the young energetic face of Roland's regime, but ultimately she had very little autonomy. One could argue she was a "useful idiot".
2. She wasn't evil or nasty, she was deeply immature and naive (taunting/laughing at the protestors FFS), but I genuinely don't think she had a clue what to do, and ultimately when she did have any ideas, I think she was limited by what Roland would permit.
3. I firmly believe she should've left the club when the protests began: if not for us, then for her health.
4. The damage to her reputation was immense, and she understood this - hence cleaning the Google search results.
On Katrien as a person
1. Charlton was a stepping stone for her; she knew immediately that she had to raise her profile, get her face in front of good networking opportunities, and play up her strengths to the press. So we saw her at conferences, giving BBC interviews, joining FA panels.. etc.
2. By all accounts, she appears to have enjoyed a London-centric lifestyle in her time here. People have remarked about docklands flats, the networking and media opportunities being on the doorstep etc etc. Not to mention her Dubai holidays.. she's all about the glamour IMO.
---
I can't see Katrien dropping further down the leagues, nor can I see her taking up a position in the ass-end-of-nowhere; unless she fancies another stepping-stone and an attempt at salvaging her reputation.
I can't see any club above Charlton offering her a position, least of all as a CEO, nor can I see her being willing to accept a "lower job".
The type of clubs who would accept her - given her reputation - are also very limited: is there even a handful of clubs with sufficiently bad ownership and disregard for their fans?
That narrows down the options to the point I'd consider this News Shopper article a bit.. well, bullshitty.12 -
Exactly this. Meire showed a distinct lack of respect for the history of the club, failed to understand the value of fans and football as a whole. She personally made a number of a naive decisions and comments which caused further division and upset with the fan base.J BLOCK said:

We need a full timeline of events under RD to make sure nobody rewrites history.3 -

One of her first postings said she had no interest in the clubs past, and wasn't bothered if "old men" who had supported the club all their lives attended games or not. I took her at her word, jacked in the season ticket, and gave up a 48 year love affair with CAFC (as did thousands of others like me). She is to my mind, together with her boss, the worst ever owners/administrators in the clubs history, which if you consider the deluded, crooked and plain incompetents of the past, is really saying something.42

If someone is put in a position they don't belong in, that is down to management, plain and simple.1 -
are people really sticking up for her? Weird.17

"Only taking orders" - only giving them more like. I don't know that anyone is sticking up for her. Saying "she was put in an impossible situation" and yet failed every test nonetheless is not sticking up for her. Her being terrible at her job and her being put in a job she didn't belong in with no support are not mutually exclusive. It's like saying "she could have done better (obviously), but even 'better' would not have been good enough."LargeAddick said:are people really sticking up for her? Weird.

Yeah, he'll be in for a big surprise when he realises.Nicholas said:Some dirty old bastard chairman will employ her, one that has got close to her at meetings and laughed at all her jokes etc and now this is his chance to get closer. Was it the Walsall chairman who was on her side not long ago, may have it wrong though.

wow well what we will shorlty see is turnover of managers, the relegation, the failed court cases is all the fault of those nasty protesters. I for one look forward to KM succeed in her new role and prove the 2 percent wrong.0

Completely different. Most managers/coaches have a certain amount of competence and have a track record of some success in their jobs and needed to start afresh. I have seen no evidence of success or competence from Miere.MrOneLung said:No different from failed managers walking into another job.

The Peter Principle kicked in for Katrien when she was working in "Waffles are us" as a Saturday girl in Brussels in 2001.sm said:Remember the Peter Principle, so it must be Man City.

She was out of her depth on day one. But in the end, she was working for RD and danced to his tune. She reminds me a lot, in both position and style, to Trump's press secretary.2
