  • From what I've seen of Shinnie I wouldn't go all out to sign him.

Wait until the summer they'll be better choices available

  • Asked Bowyer about Ronnie Schwart's fitness: "Ronnie’s getting there. He’s started a couple games here and there, so he’s looking sharper. The one thing that stands out with Ronnie is his finishing. He’s a very very very good finisher.

"So if he gets a chance, I like to think he’ll probably score. He’s definitely one of those strikers where one or two chances he’ll score. Whereas other strikers in this division they might need three or four chances. That’s the one thing that stands out with Ronnie.

"He’s getting fitter, sharper, starting to catch up now."

Fecking hell Lee. You do realise that training doesn't count.
Let's first focus on actually creating real chances for him in games and then maybe, hopefully, we will be impressed with his conversion rate

this. he's ok but nothing great.
  • 'we're not doing much wrong'. Righto Lee.
  • Apart from defending like a bunch of U7s who’ve never clapped eyes on each other.

I reckon we'll sign him on a permanent deal until the end of the season as thats when he's out of contract at Luton,he'll have to earn another year imo.

It'll be Shinnie, but I'd prefer Stockley.
we'll get neither unless we get promotion

If we got promoted then we'd need a lot better than Shinnie and I think that's why he is on loan to us from Luton.
Shinnie is just too ponderous on the ball.
  • I haven't got a problem with Bowyer saying we are not doing much wrong and we are just being unlucky and that will change. It is far more positive than saying we are over-achieving.

  • I imagine Luton will let us have Shinnie for a token fee, seeing that he's out of contract and they don't want him in the Championship (and will be staying up this season)

  • Bowyer says his team is full of confidence: "We’re always confident. In training every day I see the players and they do a lot of good things.
Training means jack-shit when it comes to 3pm on a Saturday. I want the players confident then - especially when we go 1-0 within the first 10 mins.

Anyone can look good in training  - its on the pitch that counts.
  • And it doesn't look like we are going on a run anytime soon as Famewo wont be starting Saturday & Innes not for another month.

    Season's over chaps.

  • Quotes coming up from Bowyer's presser this morn (courtesy of Benjy Nurick's tweets):

Team News: JFC: "He’s got a slight hamstring but not too bad. He’ll miss the weekend but won’t be out too long." Famewo: "I was at the game on Monday, he did well. We’ll look to put him in the squad now." #cafc

Famewo: "Probably a bit too soon to start games, but he’ll be in and around us now." Inniss: "We’ve got to play it by ear. The specialists now say he can step it up. He’s got another scan in two weeks so we’re hoping he can be in and around us not long after that."

Bowyer on the possible loan signings: "We’re trying to get one through the door before the weekend." Says the second one isn't looking realistic at this time.

Bowyer on Conor Washington: "Conor’s back fit now, we’ve got three strikers to choose from. We’ll see how they go over the next couple days. Conor was out for a little bit, so we’ve got to manage him. He did well when we played them at home, it’s good to have him back."

Asked Bowyer about Ronnie Schwart's fitness: "Ronnie’s getting there.

Charlton tried to sign Fleetwood's Josh Morris in Jan. Here's what Bowyer had to say about him today: "He’s a player I’ve liked for years. I remember when I first came to the club as a coach and he scored two goals away from home, left foot right foot. #cafc

"He’s got good talents, he can hurt you as an individual, not just by scoring. Lovely left foot, he’s someone we’ll have to watch if he plays. I like him as a player. Fleetwood have a lot of good players." #cafc

Bowyer says his team is full of confidence: "We’re always confident. In training every day I see the players and they do a lot of good things. Whenever we go into any game, home or away, we honestly believe we can. Like I said before, I don’t think we’re doing much wrong.

"The players don’t need lifting too much because they recognise it. They’re not silly, they’ve played the game long enough to recognise that they’re not doing much wrong. They know they’re a good side.

"We’re going up there in good shape and good confidence. It's going to be a tough game, they’re a good side with good players but so are we."

Bowyer on Charlton's rough home form: "We have to keep trying to do the right things. Every shot someone’s having at the moment seems to be going in. At The Valley at the weekend; two very good finishes, the first two goals.

"The second one, is he ever going to do that again? The left back? Probably not. I bet he’s never done that before and will never do it again. A few times now I’ve said, everything people seem to be hitting seems to be going in. Rochdale... four shots and four great goals.

"And then the odd mistake here and there we’ve made, it’s cost us. But if we wasn’t creating chances, wasn’t playing well, I’d be more worried. There isn’t really much we’re doing wrong.

"We know we have to go on a run. There’s no getting away from that. And that’s not just a run away from home, we have to win at home. We aren’t doing much wrong, and we have to carry on doing that."

Bowyer on defeat to Gillingham: "I think we were still in control of the game for large parts, Jake went off quite early. So I wouldn’t say that had as much of an impact as losing Chuks.

"Going down to ten men...we were in control and were going to be the team to score the next goal and go on and win it. I believe that. We were the better side, the team that looked more likely to score, and then once we lost Chuks it became more difficult.

"Even when we went down to ten men I thought we looked the more likely to score. In the end, we got done with that sucker-punch, ran out of legs."
Spoke well there, I can withstand realistic comments/feedback like that.

Promising Famewo will be back, Oshi and Famewo is good enough not to leak goals imo, especially with Pratley Infront.

I don't know what people want in regards to the Ronnie comments, stop throwing digs at Bowyer at this point. You would assume his players listen to interviews etc, he is trying to install belief in Ronnie, I am sure Ronnie will get his chance. Aneke is our top scorer and Jayden has become undroppable, hard for him to get in the starting line up atm.

Roll on Fleetwood, going to be tough as always but I think we will get a result

LB: “Jake will be back out doing some stuff out on the pitch today – he’s running, but he won’t be in the squad on Saturday. Gilbey will also be unavailable.” #cafc

LB: “Ashley Maynard-Brewer took a whack in the head in training. He came back and we wanted him to get some minutes for the U23s but took another whack in the head during the warm-up. So, he has to follow a concussion protocol. He’ll be back training with us today.” #cafc

LB: “He needs to play an U23 game before he can be back in the squad due to the protocols. He’s had four or five concussions already, so he needs to be careful with it.” #cafc

LB: “We’re a good side and we showed that in the first half on Tuesday. That’s why it drives me crazy. It’s what I see in training but for some reason, we stop doing it. We see that it’s working, they can’t get near us, so why then stop doing the basics?” #cafc

LB: “We lost on Tuesday and it was nothing to do with shape or anything else. The second goal was lucky, but we have to maintain the way we start and take it through to 90 minutes.” #cafc

LB: “Maybe it’s a confidence thing when we concede? The goal is so avoidable. It’s not pretty and they know, as professionals, to organise. It’s a throw-on and the fella has time to take two or three touches before crossing it. It’s not on.” #cafc

LB: “They have to take responsibility. They know they can’t do that and we’re going to have another meeting about it in about half an hour. We can’t keep saying the same thing time and time again. If they can’t take that information in, something is wrong.” #cafc

LB: “The players need to see those mistakes. I know, as a player, that you have to take on that information. You can’t just accept that you’re doing well at all times, you have to take criticism." #cafc

LB: “That’s what’s happening with me! I’ve had plenty of praise, and now I’m getting criticism. If you want to take the praise, you have to take the criticism. That’s how you learn. If you can’t take criticism then, I’m sorry, but you’re in the wrong game.” #cafc

LB: “They’re human beings, I understand that. Mistakes will happen, but we have to stop making those silly mistakes. We can easily prevent those goals.” #cafc

LB: “We need a bit of luck to go our way. People say you have to earn it, maybe that’s true. We just have to keep doing the right things and maybe things will go our way.” #cafc

LB: “I’m thick-skinned. I’m a strong person. I care, that’s why I was down after the game the other day. I care about the club & the results. Things are better now because Thomas is here. Now is the time that we’re rebuilding and we all have to accept that, including me.” #cafc

LB: “My main focus now that we are rebuilding, is to move forward as a club. It doesn’t just happen overnight, it takes time to gel and we’re at that stage. We can’t keep getting 12/14 players every year and have everything run smoothly.” #cafc

Benjy Nurick (possibly the same thing as above)

Bowyer on Burton's first goal: "So avoidable. It isn’t pretty for us standing there on the sideline. They know as professionals to organize. It’s a throw-in. And how easy the fella receives the ball, takes three touches, and crosses it with no one putting in a challenge...

"But do we have to play the game for them from the side all the time? It comes down to responsibility. You have to take responsibility. They know you can't switch off from a throw-in and we’re going to have a meeting about it in 30 minutes and show them again. #cafc

"But when you keep saying the same things over and over again then something’s wrong. As a player, if someone tells you something to improve you then you take it on board. If someone keeps telling you the same thing time and time again then something is wrong. #cafc

"Why can’t you take that information? That’s what worries me. But if we keep doing the right things from start to finish then we’ll win games. It’s not that difficult, it ain’t rocket science. But we have to be doing the right things for 90+ minutes." #cafc

Bowyer on how he's feeling: "I’m fine. I’m thick-skinned, I’m a strong person. I care. It affects me. I care about the club. I care about the results. That’s just in me. But it just hurts me. I will keep pushing the players, that’s why I’m here, nothing’s changed with me. #cafc

"Things are better now with Thomas here. Since I’ve been in charge it’s been crazy. Now but we’re rebuilding. Whether you like it or not, you have to accept that. We’re rebuilding the club now on and off the pitch, it’s like a building site out there (the training ground) #cafc

"Because Thomas is helping us move forward as a club. But it doesn’t just happen overnight. I said it at the start of the season...it’s going to be difficult. Yes, we want to push it as much as we can, yes we want to try and get into the playoffs, get automatic promotion. #cafc

"It’s not that simple. But I’ll keep pushing them, keep fighting for every point because that’s the way I am." #cafc

Bowyer on correcting mistakes: "Firstly they need to see their mistakes because if they don’t see them, they don’t learn. And to get that balance as a professional footballer, and I’ve been there, to get that balance sometimes you have to take responsibility. #cafc

"And when the manager is passing on information to you like we’re going to do today, you have to take that. Whether it’s positive or negative. You can’t as a player just take the positive... #cafc

"Chuks coming off the bench, scoring scoring scoring. Ok great. But Chuks you’ve also done this wrong. You can’t take that criticism? Of course, you can. Look at me. I’ve had praise praise praise. And now results ain’t going our way; negative negative negative. #cafc

"It’s down to me to make that right and the players are the same. If you can’t handle criticism, I’m sorry but you’re in the wrong game. I praise all the players when they do well and I also criticise them when they don’t do well. #cafc

"And today will be one of them moments where they’ll see a video where it won’t be pretty some of it. But there also will be part of the video that will be pretty. To remind them: this is what you’re capable of. Just stop this rubbishness, and things will be good. #cafc

"It’s not all negative, we show the positive as well. Because if not, everyone’s just sitting in their house dwelling on the negative. I don’t just do that. I tell them they’re great as well. Maybe too much. Maybe I tell them they’re too good and that’s why they get slack." #cafc

Bowyer on the home form: "Silly mistakes are costing us. We're scoring, we're scoring all the time. But we can't keep that clean sheet. What's wrong with winning a game 1-0? That's what we were doing when we won six. We were keeping clean sheets. #cafc

"Keep clean sheets and we'll win games. But that has nothing to do with whether you're playing home or away. We're still scoring goals at home, creating lots of chances, but we can't grab that win. #cafc

"There's a long way to go though. A lot of games to be played at home. There's no reason we can't win every game at home from now till the end of the season. This is how much I believe in the players. I think it's just a matter of time before we start to win at home." #cafc

That's all from Bowyer this morning... #cafc

Maybe I'm missing something, but how has AMB had 4 or 5 concussions?! Is that normal for a goalkeeper? Did he get them all with us? I see our players doing padwork with the Physios sometimes but I didn't realise we were sending them into the ring to spar wtf!

Judging by the Talksport interview yes. I don't think it was ever called

Have to agree having just listened to that interview! No new manager bounce for us... Just the same shit show for the last 16 games!
  • Bowyer: "Just stop this rubbishness, and things will be good".  Brilliant!

  • Oh well  another defeat looms on Saturday then.
  • Bowyer: "Just stop this rubbishness, and things will be good".  Brilliant!

Did he really say that? Seriously?

    This is joke, surely.
  • TS will likely wait till the end of the season now and review things and see if Bowyer can turn things around. I think if someone was out there available who was wanted the decision may have been taken.
