  • Doesn’t this mean he’s more likely to stay for this season? Why would anyone pay money for him when they can get him for a free in less than 12 months

Nope, many clubs will realise Pat's a raving bargain at the trifling "undisclosed" consideration the owner will accept and will snap him up asap, cos y'know he's actually quite good.
  • The fee will probably be energy saving lightbulbs and a years mineral water!
  • Abandon Ship!!
  • I always thought he would go anyway at the end without promotion and new ownership, hopefully he can stay for the season though.

Nothing against him if he leaves, like someone else has said, how many of us have left crap jobs for being mistreated etc

If I was Patrick Bauer and I played for a club that couldn't list a full set of subs for the opening game of the season, alarm bells would start ringing.
If I was Patrick Bauer and I played for a club where the manager looked like breaking all records for being the longest standing caretaker in football, alarm bells would start ringing.
If I was Patrick Bauer and I played for a club that had gone for ¾ year without a chief executive, alarm bells would start ringing.
If I was Patrick Bauer and I played for a club that had dropped down the league despite my best efforts, alarm bells would start ringing.
If I was Patrick Bauer and I played for a club where the owner was universally hated, alarm bells would start ringing.
If I was Patrick Bauer and I played for a club where fans were staying away in droves, alarm bells would start ringing.
If I was Patrick Bauer and I played for a club that sold its best young players at every opportunity, alarm bells would start ringing.
If I was Patrick Bauer and I played for a club where proposed improvements to the training ground never happened, alarm bells would start ringing.
If I was Patrick Bauer and I played for a club that the owner wanted to sell but couldn't because of its ridiculous over-valuation, alarm bells would start ringing.
If I was Patrick Bauer and I played for a club that was penny pinching over every little thing, alarm bells would start ringing.
If I was Patrick Bauer and I played for a club where people told you one thing and then did another, alarm bells would start ringing.
If I was Patrick Bauer and I'd be shouting from the rooftop, "the bells, the bells, somebody stop the bells, I can't hear myself think anymore"!

There's no way Roland would drop a clanger like this, he doesn't do failure.

    Because they need him now.
  • well this was predictable.

Bowyer was pleased that Bauer was staying after the Bolton offer didn't reach RD's valuation.
as far as i could tell Bolton were at the checkout for Magennis and we asked them if they fancied a special offer for Bauer. they didn't meet the desired price tag that RD wanted but he (and now Bauer himself) have made it clear to all other shoppers in the store that the deal is available and on the cheap.

I'll be surprised if he stays past Thursday. I'll be pissed off if others follow such as Aribo but isn't he another without a new contract.
  • This means Bauer will play extra well this season so that he can pick up a big signing on bonus for next season.

Bauer doesn't have to accept a move, even if Roland wants the cash. After all, if you and your family were settled around here, would you go to say Blackburn?

    Yes, probably.
  • Would’ve loved to have seen the Karl Robinson transfer deadline day video this year.

Depends how much extra they were offering.

Also we have to remember he's not from the area, he's not even English so is probably less bothered about moving than say a London-born player would be.

Plus he can obviously see the mess we're in with not much hope of any immediate improvement so when he weighs up the pros and cons (if there is an offer from another club), i can't see his decision weighing too heavily in favour of staying with us.

Just go on the Oxford twitter page... Am sure there will be something similar as he has the usual moan about missing targets etc.
  • Surprised he's stuck with us for this long tbh! Seriously, some one with the right amount of money and desire please take us over.
  • Who is there at the club to offer a contract? does Bowyer even have a contract?
  • Was that his actual twitter account? I thought his had reference to BFG, hence his nickname.
  • In this context, Bowyer's positivity and message that we're aiming for promotion is starting to sound very hollow.

Can understand why he wants to be making the right noises, but he's going to be looking out of touch with reality if there are a couple of more sales this week.

Yeah, but put yourself in Lee Bowyer's position.

Everything he does is being undermined from beneath him.

Foreign players do get settled in an area though, and especially their families.

I doubt Blackburn would be offering significantly more money anyway, seeing that he's already on a Championship level contract, it's not as if they've got much money to splash either. Indeed I imagine they're one of the favourites for relegation this season.

If someone decent came in for him, it might be different though

And from above it seems. Must be about as fun as working for NHS only paid more!!

If Bauer and Aribo go by Thursday we will go down. Protests and match abandonments should happen.

Excellent, tell us what you have in mind and when.

I can't see RD turning down an offer this week - UNLESS Bowyer makes it clear that if he sells Bauer or Aribo, he's walking out. That would leave RD in a mess.

Maybe, but what does he care?

But it would drop those left on the coaching staff into a bigger hole than they're in already.

  • Any decent young centre halves in the U23’s that can step up?
  • Who is there at the club to offer a contract? does Bowyer even have a contract?

LDV is in the building tomorrow until Thursday I suspect.............he'll possibly deal with contracts & any player sales before deadline at 5pm Thursday.

LDV ..is that Leyland Daf Vanman ?
  • I wonder what LB will do if Bauer & Aribo are sold by Thursday.........

tell RD to do one & he's been lied to (wasn't he also supposed to have been made manager before last Saturday)

or just suck it up & come out with his...."it is what it is"
  • Interesting scenario. Bauer and Aribo get sold late on Thursday and we don’t get any replacements. Bowyer, Jacko, Euell and anyone else on the staff with any self respect say “fuck this, we’re off” on Friday. What actually happens next?
