Bauer - won't be renewing contract

Think Bowyer should now take the line of not speaking to the clubs media people. He is being lied to again and again. Now let's just see that no one comes in the door this week0
-
And Aribo goes0

We will only be successful with players that want to play for Charlton. That’s why I’m always a supporter of our youth players when they make the break through.
Players that are looking to go. Should just go, as much as I like the BFG.1 -

I think you’ve missed the point here. It’s not a matter of whether Bauer is easily replaceable or not. It’s a matter that one of our current key players, aged 25, hasn’t been offered a new contract. If our owner isn’t willing to do that, then replacing him with an unknown quantity from outside the club isn’t going to be very likely is it?Lincsaddick said:Bauer is decent but it's not as if he's irreplaceable .. I should thing that (e.g.) Ward would do a good job at central defence, there are always experienced big ol boys around looking for a club (if we pay the wages of course) and who knows, Sarr might suddenly bloom and blossom, he might even become a decent defender

Perhaps that's the tactic...promise the world verbally on the premise that when it comes down to it the transfer window closure will loom and the balance of power of negotiation slides away from the player who may then be obliged to extend a contract on far lesser terms than verbally agreed through fear of not getting offers elsewhere.Callumcafc said:I'm sorry but if I was told I was getting a promotion at work and then I hear that other people had similar offers but then they were later retracted, I'd be feeling the same way Bauer is. I do not blame him one bit.
Under this regime, a verbal offer is worth absolute jack sh*t.
Wouldn't put anything past this owner and his overt disdain for anything to do with successful football.1 -
I'm long past caring.ricky_otto said:I don’t blame him, Id want out as well. I’m actually amazed that Pratley and Taylor signed for us.
So we have rumours of Ajose to Coventry, Aribo to Southampton and Bauer to Blackburn.
Bring it on as there is nobody else of noticeable value.
Dushitelet, you are a bottom hole of the highest order.4 -
Bowyer :
"The top, top ones [players] are not really in our budget but they might become in our budget the longer we wait. Do you take a gamble and take a more average player or do you sit it out and hope that you won’t get this player today but in a week’s time you might be able to get him? Obviously for the permanents Thursday is the last day but we’re looking at the bigger picture as well."
So is he expecting the sale to happen 'in a week's time'?

Unlike our midfield and defence on Saturday Lee Bowyer can 'get ahhht' and I fully expect that if the Mad Belgian keeps up these shenanigans he will.
Bowyer is not the type of bloke to take too much bollocks.1 -
Who can blame him? The club's been a complete basket case for as long as he's been here.
Good luck to him. Part of me wishes it was that easy for me to just walk away .....4 -
As I said in the takeover thread I think he’s just talking about loan signings.JamesSeed said:Bowyer :

I'd be really surprised if Taylor and Pratley are on better deals than Bauer who joined us in the ChampionshipRob7Lee said:I think Bauer’s tweet is carefully worded.
‘I have not been offered a new contract’ is likely different to being offered an extension. He goes on to say ‘and would not extend my current contract’ To me that sounds like he’s been offered an extension, at what terms who knows, knowing the mad man it’s at a lesser rate than he’s currently on but have to assume at the same terms.
Who knows, maybe Pratley & Taylor have come in on deals greater than what Paddy’s on and he feels any extension should be on similar terms.
Either way he’s set out his stall and the mad man will take any offer now I expect, Blackburn for £350k, discounted to £200k if payment up front. Ajose sub £100k probably Gillingham or similar and Aribo about £400k to Southampton.
What a shower of sh1te.1 -
Agreed, but Roland won't pay bigger wages, but new owners might well.Scoham said:

Some Charlton fans and CL members must still think that the Coffin march was a publicity stunt.
I couldn't have been the only one who thought that it was prescient of our outcome if the pussy stroker stayed around.
Each day since February have been another nail in the coffin.
Also being an atheist I don't believe in resurrections.
Sad times.

Bowyer is being lied to, says Bauer has been offered a new deal, Bauer says he hasn’t & wouldn’t sign one anyway.
Can see Bowyer walking if, as I expect, he’s not allowed to sign a replacement for JFC despite what he said post-match on Saturday.
Bauer, Aribo & Ajose could all be out the door before we kick off on Saturday

Convenient that the offer of a new contract was made verbally. It wouldn’t take more than 20 minutes to knock out the key terms, subject to a formal written being signed subsequently if those terms were agreed. I also wonder who spoke to Bauer’s agent ?
A cynic might suggest that the announcement of a new contract offer was simply designed to try and improve Duchatelet’s negotiating position and squeeze a few extra quid out of any transfer.
It will be interesting to see what transpires over the next three days, although it does appear that Patrick Bauer wants out. Quite frankly, who can blame him in the present dire circumstances.0 -
You'd have to be a pretty special sort of idiot to sign a new deal at this club while Roland still owns it.11
-
Much as I want to dislike Pat’s position I simply can’t. Good luck to him if he wants out of this shithouse.6

So glad that someone from within the club has finally broken ranks and fucking said something. I don’t care what his motivation is, I’m just glad it’s happened. It’s become so tedious reading the party line from the players, to the comms team. We all know we’re being raped and pillaged so well done pat for no longer wanting to be mugged off and lied too.9
