Albie Morgan - diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (p63)

It was indeed a 7 out of 10 performance, had he played the whole game as he did first half he'd have had a 5.5
If he played the whole game as he had the second it would have been an 8.4 -
He was bang average in the first half, and a lot better in the second (same can be said for Lee) he needs to put together some 90 minute performances for me. Good goal, especially after the miss3

Either way it's 2 games running where he's justified his selection. Personally, I think he's been underused anyway, a bit ridiculous that he made no league appearances at all, not even off the bench, for nearly 3 months.2 -

So, typical inconsistent Albie Morgan then 😅
Pleased for him and the goal, but, we've been here before, a better second half, 2 goals and 3 points will change people's views in regards to the team and Morgan.
I'll keep on banging the Gilbey drum, he makes out midfield infinitely better, Morgan has hardly had any game time with him, hopefully now we'll see if he can get the Gilbey effect much like Dobson did.
Dobson - Gilbey - Morgan please.
(Just not Lee for a while....)3 -
You'll see no argument here.
It should be Morgan or Lee not together3 -

It's all very well comparing him to Lee, I don't think either player is good enough to get us out of this league, they're both probably about the standard of where we find ourselves, mid table in League One. If we want to get out of this league we need better than the both of them rather than trying to compare them.
Great strike from Morgan with the second goal, hit it well. Earlier in the season he skied a few of those similar chances against Sheff Weds and Oxford so good to see an improvement today.

I've tended to keep it zipped when others have criticised Albie in the past but hate the way in which he's been a scapegoat for so long when he does play.
Without dwelling on performances in the past, I've always seen a willing young ( yes, still young!) player who seems to be a perfectionist - and someone who appears very self critical when something doesn't come off for him on the pitch....and probably dwells on it too much to the detriment of his game.
I'm sincerely hoping that he's now maturing, both mentally & physically, and that what we witnessed today & last Saturday in Cheltenham will continue & that he'll command a regular start on matchdays from now on. For me, he has the energy & skill to be an important member of the squad from now on and feel it could set his progress back should he be sent out on loan now.
It's clear to me that Albie's team mates respect & think a lot of him as was shown when he scored this afternoon.
And the gaffer was clearly "made up" by his performance today as demonstrated by the big hug & chat as the lads left the pitch.
His place in the team is there for him to hold onto....and IMO, he's a far better prospect than our Luton loanee who consistently fails to deliver, I'm afraid.

I barely noticed him on the pitch for the first 30 mins, not helped by Jacko effectively playing 2 in central midfield as Lee was pushed so far forward.
Anyway, the longer the game went on the better he got.
He deserved his goal & it would be great if he can continue his form of 2 games.
The problem before is he hasn't been able to.
Well done Albie.5 -

Then the following week, a previous 4/10 becomes an 8/10 and man of the match.
To me it seems the so called "backbone" of the team can change every week. I think they need to make a decision and ship out those who ain't going to be a part of their plans and work with those that feel are.

If he was the complete package, he wouldn't still be with us!
Terrific passer, great vision, very good at dead balls, powerful shot, great energy and enthusiasm.
He had a superb second half, could easily have had a hat trick. Nothing wrong with the corner that was disallowed. Their defender had hold of Burstow, pushing him into their keeper, blocking the keeper off. Either an Albie goal, or penalty should have been awarded for the foul on Burstow.
I get the feeling with Albie that one day it will suddenly click, much like it did with Scotty when he returned from Norwich. He needs confidence and good coaching, let's hope Skiverton can be that man.4 -
I reckon Skiverton was telling him buy a ticket and you can win the raffle , hit the fucking ball , you’ve got a ping on you, anything can happy and go crazy even hit it on target , even in the middle of the goal and you’ll have an even better chance of a goal than dragging it wide .
he’s a rarity in this sea of shit footballers in that he has a ping , let’s ping the ball towards the goal more rather than passing the buck constantyl , Burstow looks lively enough to pick up rebounds if we can find the oppos version of Henderson to spill the ball .
Decent enough game for Morgan and he’s a deffo starter for now , well done him but I’m not wanking anyone off till they get us out of this shitness5 -
Right now he is the best deliverer of any set piece and must start4
-
Set pieces were all excellent, not one wasted by donating it to the keeper, and not one went harmlessly behind. So glad he got that goal, after the bollocking he got off Washington for not squaring the first chance he had. This lad so wants to do well for the club, maybe this goal ,and the fact he was getting in scoring positions is the start,I would love him to do well, and shut the doubters up.3

Fair play to the lad. He's come in for a lot of criticism this season some of it deserved. However, he was certainly one of our better players at Cheltenham last week and I thought had a good solid game yesterday. Thoroughly deserved that goal. I was probably one of his biggest critics but he's certainly making me eat my words (based on the last 2 matches)4
-
You can see by the reaction of the players both during the match and on social media afterwards that he is clearly someone they all want to do well.I think everyone knows that Albie has bags of ability, and some very strong parts to his game. As ever though, and has been mentioned many times, it is down to consistency and carving out a defined role for himself.5
-
One thing I've not seen mentioned is I think he's looked a lot fitter these past couple of games - or at least fresher given he's not played too much recently. He bombed down the whole pitch to put pressure on their keeper at one point in the second half, and obviously still had plenty of energy to get in the box twice late on.4

I rate him, someone said how high his ceiling is which is something I hugely agree with. Its hard for a kid coning through with us as we are desperate for a hero especially a homegrown one and have been used to every decent youngster getting sold and money from the sale vanishing.
What he has in his locker is what keeps him getting opportunities especially at the level we are at. Someone who can hit a dead ball is so valuable, he is going to hit some shanky ones because 21 year olds who have a 100% success rate with a dead ball dont play for Charlton for long. I can't have people saying he doesn't show for the ball, he always does, his use of the ball once he gets it this season has let him down but crucially he has the right intentions, as @oohaahmortimer says, I wish he'd have a pot shot more often from distance, he has a genuinely good ball striking technique hence the deliveries we've seen last couple of games. Physically he will toughen up, but his game is making things happen which can be tough with league 1 players around you. Anyone who watched Simmonsen or Di Canio for us will remember them being on a completely different level to their teammates and how Di Canio would prod a slide rule pass in for Lisbie to look at him befuddled as he hadn't played a square 10 yard ball to him to disappear down a blind alley with.
NOT SAYING MORGAN IS ON THAT LEVEL
He has bags of potential I csnt believe more people than me want him to fulfil some of it11 -

2 games on the spin he's been one of the best performers in midfield. No he's not perfect, but he's earned the starting spot for Portsmouth at least.7
-
He deserves to start because the other players in our squad aren't much better and seem exhausted.
Should we build a promotion team around him next year? No. We need to get some better players in.1
