2 good games back to back.  He needs to build on this

Yup - If he can then he does have the potential to be a decent squad player for a promotion push.

The clip above is brilliant - all I can hear is Brownie! On the second viewing, I noticed the goal!

I've seen a few tech'd up geeks at the Valley listen to the game on the phone and watch in person! They must be able to handle the delay well, but one things for sure, the replays must come in handy.

Serious question: Do we have a better crosser of the ball than Albie Morgan? Y/N
I’ll take that as a no, then.

Played well the last two games, can he now do it over the next 5. That’ll tell us what Albie is about.

Hard to say as we haven't seen him cross many balls, unless you are considering set pieces.

He scored right at the death but don’t let that paper over how poor he actually was. Missed a one on one, doesn’t tackle , doesn’t really get involved or show for the ball. Not good enough!

In the games I've seen, he's crossed many a ball. Remember when he broke through he was often shifted to LM to compensate for our lack of left sided options.

I remember he put a belting cross for Stockley against Sheff W. He also finds Innis from corners more accurately than others have.

Thing with Albie is we know he has some good attributes. The question is whether he can contribute fully during a whole game and consistently. Fingers crossed!

Set pieces were all excellent, not one wasted by donating it to the keeper, and not one went harmlessly behind. So glad he got that goal, after the bollocking he got off Washington for not squaring the first chance he had. This lad so wants to do well for the club, maybe this goal ,and the fact he was getting in scoring positions is the start,I would love him to do well, and shut the doubters up.
Personally I'd have been very disappointed had he squared it. Washington was a yard offside.
And what a great bit of skill to fashion that chance.
Agreed, I don't think we have another player who could have worked themselves into a shooting position like he did.
I disagree the majority of the team could have done that.
But they don't, in the same way Albie hasn't done it before either.

Albie had a good game yesterday. The key is consistency. Let's see if he can maintain yesterday's performance. Up to now he hasn't been able to do it on a consistent basis.

Couldnt really judge from where I was sitting, all I saw was Washington doing his bollocks at him.

AND he appeared to walk straight off at the final whistle, in a huff....

TBF Washy has missed those kind of passes regularly as has a head down running style when nearing the box.

As none of our players have been in any way consistent this season (at least not in a positive sense) we need to cut Albie some slack if he has the occasional off game. His goal should be to have more positive games than negative and to use a run in the side to build up his confidence, fitness levels and positional awareness with an eye to kicking on again next year.

Interesting he purposely hit that shot down the middle. Didn’t see the game so watching the highlights and not seeing the earlier miss it looked like he got a bit lucky and I wondered why he aimed so centrally.

Not sure that backs up your opinion, if j have understood correctly!

Though he was decent second half, and got the goal his earlier play deserved. First half he was completely anonymous, literally didn't realise he was playing. That's not 100% his fault, we were poor all over the park first half. Innis looked incredibly rusty for the first 30, CBT struggled positionally for the first 20, DJ couldn't beat his man, Morgan and Lee just weren't involved, and all that left Chuks and young Mason isolated for long period. Last 10 minutes of the half we really improved as a team, and I said to my mate at the time that they won't want half time to come now. Fair play to the players and JJ, they continued where they left off after half time and were the better team second half.

Pleased for him. It won't stop the moaners though, as we've never had inconsistent footballers before at Charlton

It seems to me that everyone wants our youngsters to come through to the first team, but unless they are world beaters straight away, then they must be useless. Burstow was being moaned at on Saturday before he scored, then he is the best thing since sliced bread. We are always being told that younger players have more off days than most experienced players, but unfortunately we will not forgive them if they do. I wish all our youngsters that get to the first team go on to be successful with us, but it is not possible. But give them a break while they are learning, even if they have been around the first team for a while, it is how much game time they get. Moan over, now your turn

Wish him all the best and no doubt he is trying and working hard as i think he's looked slimmer and fitter each time he has reappeared in the team. However, despite his goal and his occassional deft passes, it's just not enough for me but hope i'm proved wrong. The fact he had zero time to think about that second chance was crucial and those who ae praising his free kick to Innis, yes, it was vey good but ;lets not forget that he was the dead ball specialist before Lee got in the team and it was anything but a masterclass.

Willing to admit Morgan has worked something out and looks so much better. Would be a shame if he was the one dropped for Fraser
  • Negative

He kicked the ball out of touch twice in the first half with awful mis place passes.

    positive

workload has improved, he was willing to carry the ball out and played some creative passes.

on last nights showing I would go with Dobson, Morgan and Fraser
  • Fair play to him. Was expecting him to leave in January. Still here and playing really well. Got three months to prove that he’s good enough for a promotion push next season. I hope he shows that he’s good enough.

Fear not, he’s human so he’ll have a poor performance at some point. Then this thread will be up and running again.
