Good on Hudson-Odoi, handed in a transfer request after 4 offers from Bayern Munich have been rejected by Chelsea. He isn’t going to get league minutes at Chelsea. Bayern is perfect for him. Chelsea apparently gave Bayern a figure after rejecting a couple of bids, Munich met their valuation which was also rejected.
This clearly isn’t about money for Hudson-Odoi. It’s about playing time.

Hopefully he's the one we're signing on a Perm
On a serious note likewise am delighted he's taking no shite from Chelsea, hopefully they're slowly waking up at those Academies
Someone else should have taken today's penalty!!! Yea he scored last week at home but away from home a more experienced player would have scored ie Williams!
I’d have been impressed had Williams scored it given he had been subbed off.
Nope. Williams was taken off after the penalty miss.
Yep penalty awarded 77mins Fosu on for Williams 82 min.

Fair enough. Though with 4 goals in his career I doubt he’s a player who puts himself forward for taking pentlaties.
"Grant deal done He played his last game for Charlton today according to a good source of mine. Deal was completed yesterday and the medical but Charlton wanted him to play today’s game as they had a little striker crisis. But all paperwork is done and expected to be sent in ASAP"
I think the move is too soon for Karlan. He is very much a confidence player and needs to start games and not come off the bench for 20 mins. I can see him going out on loan to league 1 next year. But is a good opportunity for him to make some $$. Not so good for his football career.
I have a feeling the perm replacement will be Erhun Oztumer. Free transfer from Bolton for the rest of his contract. Not really a striker but can get goals.

As if we are not overrun with midfielders already. Good player mind you, but very much in the Williams mould.
I’ll wait to see what happens but I can’t help remembering people defending the sale of Kermorgant off the back of Reza and Polish Pete coming in. We have signed a number of apparently useful strikers on loan in recent seasons who haven’t quite cut it, not to mention Ajose and Novak. I do think Bowyer and Gallen have more nous, but change is always a risk.

Good luck to Grant - he may need it.
I think people are just trying not to panic Rick. Young English strikers doing the business are always going to be in demand. Ones that are out of contract soon are even harder to keep.
Can’t believe some of you who think he’s easily replaceable. It’s been a long while since we have had a striker who has scored 14 goals in a season, let alone at this stage, let alone two of them. It’s easy to say it’s because he’s playing alongside Taylor but Taylor has also benefitted playing alongside Grant. They are a pairing. Don’t be surprised if Taylor’s goals dry up when Grant leaves, they obviously like playing together and compliment each other.
Whoever comes in certainly won’t be scoring more goals than Grant and most likely less. Some say Grant isn’t Premier League class, most likely isn’t, or even Championship standard but are wetting themselves over replacing him with Eisa, unproven above League Two, or Eaves who is League One standard at best.
Weird.
Just back from P'Boro & only read this thread so far , up to & including Large's post.
I have to agree that Karlan won't be easily replaceable, at least on a like for like basis.
Whether Lyle will be able to form a similarly successful partnership with an incoming striker, remains to be seen but will inevitably not happen overnight. We are into the second half of the season now, so time is of the essence.....
Something I don't believe too many others have mentioned is that, in addition to his goal scoring ability, Karlan's pace & forward surges with the ball at his feet will be difficult to replicate IMO. THIS, possibly more so than the number of goals to his name this term, has impressed me most.
However, I do understand his desire to play at a higher level & he must be congratulated on catching the eye of several clubs. As someone said today, a footballing career can be ended with just one incident so opportunities should be seriously considered when offered. With this in mind, I wish him well.
This may be something that has appeared in another thread or later in this one, as yet unread , but after the match, I had a brief chat with someone from the club who stated that Karlan had refused to play this afternoon....
Presumably this has some relevance to the earlier news that he did not train yesterday but I know nothing more.
Why DID he play is the question.
Maybe Bow appealed to his sense of loyalty, albeit one last time, or maybe the gaffer agreed not to make the situation public IF he changed his mind.Surely the player would want his move to start with a positive vibe ? Either way, although I felt Karlan had a very decent game, maybe the penalty was a "step too far" & after running his socks off all afternoon, plus the emotions he probably struggled with, it might have been a good idea to have handed the ball to a team mate...We'll never know.
Such a pity that today had to end with confirmation of the loss of a valuable member of our promotion chasing team & the prospect of 2 further important matches without both of our main goal scorers.
All we can do is trust in Bow & Steve G to find the best possible replacement ASAP and for the lads to stay strong in the face of current issues & uncertanties.
I know that we, the faithful will do our best to spur them onwards & upwards.
If it was all done as has been stated above wouldnt he just say that
I remember Martin Simons saying on 'Talksport' that there was 'no way' we were selling Parker to Chelsea for £10m.
All PR shit.
Grant has gone. Same as Parker, Murphy, Reid, Stephens, Kermorgant ad infinitum.
In fairness to Martin Simons that was his view and, at the time, the board’s. They never set out to sell Parker in that window, but they couldn’t hold the line against his behaviour, and Curbs’ ultimate view on it. It wasn’t spin, although he’d have been wiser to have kept quiet.
Let’s get this right boro might be a shithole Huddersfield is dive but if your giving me 4 times my current earnings I’ll see you there.
I was up in Huddersfield last year. The town centre has come interesting architecture but other than that it was awful, although the people were very friendly.
Beautiful surrounding countryside....I recently went there after discovering that my paternal side of the family all originate from the Huddersfield area and particularly Marsden. Was a bit of an eye opener for me as I previously had the opinion that it was a typical northern shithole.....Ive seen a lot worse locally in the south.

If that’s true then it’s mad he was allowed to take the penalty. Thought he played okay though and never got the sense he wasn’t trying.
Personally don’t blame him for taking the chance, he may not get another one.
He ain’t perfect but he’s bloody decent for his age and the level we’re playing at. A lot of our so called supporters had him written off as non league standard as recently as a year ago. He’s well and truly proved them wrong so who knows if he’ll prove the doubters wrong as he steps up a level or two. There’s certainly still time and room for him to improve. Those who were so keen to write him off have got exactly the level of player loyalty in return that they deserve.
With our disinterested, cheapskate owner and being stuck in this tinpot league we’re always going to be vulnerable to having our better players picked off. It’s a real blow to lose him and goal scorers don’t grow on trees. Definitely no guarantees he’ll be adequately replaced. It also took a few weeks for Taylor and Grant to get on each other’s wavelength. If it takes the same amount of time for the new guy and Taylor to hit it off, that’s assuming they even do hit it off, it could seriously stall our season.
Good luck Karlan. Would’ve been nice to get one fucking season of stability though.

On the off chance Bowyer reads this, John Marquis will do
Kick in the teeth that after decent 1/2 season he’s jumping ship and hurts more when it’s an academy graduate.
Wonder if Oliver Norwood (Tranmere) would be a good option though
Good luck to Grant - he may need it.
