Why are people betting with bookmakers? You will get a better price on an exchange. Bookies are scumbags. They will eventually mess you about. All the well known ones and most of the smaller ones have limited my stakes to pennies. I don't know how they stay in business. Ladbrokes refused £100 @ 4/1 then sent me an e-mail saying my stake limit is £1.64. They are supposed to be the biggest bookmaker in the world. Absolute joke.
They're a business trying to make money.  Why wouldn't they take steps to stop people costing them profits?
I haven't cost them anything. They are about £300 ahead.

What do you have to do to get your stakes limited? Just do particularly well on their site and then they shut you out?
It makes no difference if you win or lose. They will make your account unusable.

  • Taking value is what causes you to have your stake limited, regardless of winning and losing. Regularly betting purely on boosts, free bet offers etc is the way to get restricted swiftly!

Extra places and bad each way

Obviously that gets your account restricted, but that makes it all the more fun when you do get on!
  • I’ve fancied and backed Kemboy twice.
once in the Irish national and again at Cheltenham. It didn’t get to the second fence on either occasion.
those on it today will be pleased to know I’ve left well alone.

Not sure that's the sole way to get banned, I bet on boosts regularly and do reasonably well with them. My mate does too, I think some people might be different tiered due to what they bet on/ whether they do slots/ poker etc. Just a guess but if you are more likely to go on sky casino you will be more valuable to them?

I might put the odd £20 a month on slots, poker wont play for a while but will then play for months but usually win at poker. Slots varied results...

Sometimes it doesn't make sense as I know who I bet with (Sky) limited one of my friends who doesn't bet much and definitely doesn't win from it longterm but they have reduced his stake to £1 something, the only limit I have ever had is on price boosts but that's usually £5-£15 nothing which I would put more on.

They make the rules unfortunately and if you are bad customer (in their eyes, whatever the specifics are)

  • @PeanutsMolloy without reading all through this thread, where should I be putting my money?

As we've got Foxhunters this pm on the GN course and there's rain about up there, I'll time the race and let you know then, if that's OK. Whether it's likely to be fast or slow side of GS makes a difference to some.

Agreed. It's not winning or losing, it's about your betting pattern/choices.

Times of the first 2 suggest genuine Good to Soft on Mildmay and hurdle courses - weather enough to make it hard going. GN course likely to be a touch softer because of watering policy (all 3 courses watered up to last Sat).
Mind you, going could easily change to Soft during the afternoon from the look of the rain.
