What a performance full of bravery, determination and heart this team can never be accused of not wanting it they put everything of the line tonight.
I was slating lapslie after 20 mins for a few mistakes giving the ball away at the back and nearly giving a goal away but bloody hell he made up for it and some second half the boy has a massive heart that probably makes him a better player than his ability at present but may mean he makes it.
Steer was brilliant again tonight as was KB.
Think we may struggle Saturday that result may come st a cost with injuries and tiredness.
Fans top drew again loads of songs loud for most of the game.
Dont get all the Pompey fans bashing tbh, i spent 7 years living and working there, and had a great time - good people. The 'inbreds' bit just sounds a bit childish tbh. Plus in terms of their fans, they are one of the best in the country for following their team through thick and thin.
Actually agree with this. Always enjoyed games against them, of which there have been many, including trips to Fratton Park. Really enjoyed my first trip there in January 1976, when we won an FA Cup replay 3-0. There are far worse places to visit.
I was there too. Remember George Graham playing for them, and Mark Penfold scoring a goal - or am i dreaming this?
I was only young so my memory for details back then isn't too great. Not sure about Mark Penfokd scoring though, as I don't ever remember him scoring.
What I find so frustrating is, the games I've seen all the way through this season, I really enjoyed, even Sunderland where we lost. They reminded me why I still love Charlton, why I still love football. And they were the games which had the stamp of Lee Bowyer the player on them. Even the commentators tonight said that about our performance.
If only we had an ownership and an infrastructure to back him, Bowyer would get us out of this bloody hell hole and onwards and upwards. I'm convinced he's got what it takes, even though he is less than a year into the job. But we are stuck with that idiot. It's a tragedy. We have to keep up the pressure on him to sell.

Just on the train back was one of the many, top performance well deserved and going home happy. Lyle ran the line well, he just instinctively knows where to position himself. Lapslie was getting himself involved and running down the threats Steer, the last man Jason and Patrick kept it tight, Pitman when he came on snuff out The rest did a job Onwards and upwards, we were the better team and deservedly won We were also the better supporters, loved the Christmas song

He may be error prone at times, but i've grown to like Nabby.
He does seem genuine, even his ocassional brain fart moments are usually him trying too hard or getting carried away rather than any lack of effort. And given how he struggled when he first came he's shown proper spirit to keep plugging away.

I got separated from my neutral student buddies on the terrace, and watched the game on my own.Some Pompey bloke behind me had a go at me, so I turned round and tried to just face him down, and nothing happened. Two weeks later in the bar of the Centre Hotel there he was, with his girlfriend, looking at me, and I could see his brain trying to work out how this could possibly be, that I was still in Portsmouth. Meanwhile my brain was working out how large his biceps were, something I hadn't noticed two weeks earlier. Fortunately my great Pompey mate with me negotiated an honourable settlement.
I hated the place, as a city, but I loved my six months in Grimsby the year before. Grimsby...these are just the hands life deals you. Beating them, especially at their gaff, is a close third for me after winning at Selhurst and the Rustbucket. Cheers!
First half performance was the best I’ve seen this season and second half we battled for all our worth. All put in a shift but at what cost, looks like 3 or 4 more injuries to take account of for Saturday. Thought Pompey looked ordinary, seem to rely on their physicality which went too far at times tonight. Like others on here I also went to the Poly and still work in Pompey but live about 12 miles outside. I’ll enjoy going into work tomorrow.
You don’t have to be incredible to win this league. Just consistent and have a bit of luck.
I think if every team plays at their absolute peak we’re a top 3 or 4 side in this division. Our problem hasn’t been competing with the ‘big boys’ but rather dropping points against some absolutely bang average sides
Still think it’s playoffs, but I’m sure we’re in a much better place for them this year.

The game where George Hope played well. Beat two men, rounded the goalie and slipped it home for his second (I think).
That feels like as big a result as Shrewsbury away last season. We needed a win there to stop our season drifting away into mid table obscurity and we got it. Tonight wasn’t quite do or die but it feels massive for our season.
In previous seasons, it’s been around December that things start to fall apart and after losses to Doncaster and Blackpool I had started to getting that sinking feeling once more.
No better way to arrest a slump that to take a deserved three points away from the league leaders on their own patch. It sounds like we won with determination and grit, something that was lacking when the frost of December came to bite under the previous bloke.
Well done Bowyer, well done Jacko, well done Lapslie (special mention well deserved), well done the team and well done the 899 Addicks in the away end that made all the noise for nearly 100 minutes.
