Think Hunt and Mendonca would've gone pretty close to breaking that record. Looking it up and Mendonca had 9 goals by the end of November but then got injured. Hunt ended the season with 24 and i think Clive would've matched that.
Great result to back up Tuesday. That said, Wimbledon are by a long way the worst of an absolute shit shower of poor teams I’ve seen in the last three or four years. Even when we went down to ten men (9 if you count the fact that Ajose was playing) they were still set up to play for a point. I got a bit annoyed with the decision to play deep with 15 to go as they were offering absolutely nothing but the goal on the break justified it all so what do I know. All round a good competent performance with a few standouts (Bielik and Aribo), an excellent cameo (Marshall) and a mention to be fair to the much maligned (especially by me) Ajose for his assist for the first. I thought Fosu and Reeves both had tons of possession without doing anything much of note with it but overall it was the result I hoped for. My abiding memories will be another phenomenally inept display by Kettle, the fact that I don’t think I have ever been colder despite many layers of clothing and us sticking together about forty uninterrupted passes at the end despite the fact that they had given up. All in all a job done sort of day when it could easily have gone nipples northwards.
Might have missed it earlier but does Kettle have the distinction of issuing the most red cards in the league? If true surely the FA notices that pattern.
Not sure about that, but I bet he’s the ref whose given us more red cards than any other official
Really pleased we won that. Bielik was brilliant and what a Centre forward’s goal by Lyle. Wimbledon parked the bus even when they had the extra player. I think Fosu did well today and we need to keep persevering with him and Reeves if we want to challenge. However Ajose has to go. With him we were playing with nine players today. Anyone would be better than him. I know he put the cross in for the goal but that doesn’t excuse the rest of another piss poor performance. He has had so many chances to succeed and hasn’t done it. He struts around like he’s the star player but he is one of the worst players I have seen at CAFC. Please leave in January Nicky.
Shocking is an understatement for how bad they were. I’d be fuming if I was a paying fan to see my team sit back with a man advantage.
Ajose could teach Fosu a thing or two about putting the ball into the box. Shame his first touch deserted him when one on one.
Don’t think anyone was that spectacular today. Felt like we wanted to break the record for passes along the back line in first half.
Pleased for Marshall, well taken goal. Important to follow up from Tuesday with a home win so no complaints. Can’t even really complain about Kettle as that kind of performance is expected from him.
Massive doth of cap to Mark Marshall. Had an incredibly impacting cameo and throughly deserved his goal, with a great strike.
We didn’t have experience on the bench today but as a manager you can’t ask for anything more than someone coming on late in a miserable weather game and really taking the game by the scruff of the neck.
I'll ask again. I suppose the cup game is all forgotten
Today’s game was forgotten for you. Where were ya?
After purchasing my Barnsley and Shrewsbury away tickets popped down the rose arrived 10 mins before game. Gave a burst of you can stick the fa cup up your arse to all you fa cup lovers. You might of missed me as had jeans and coat with hood on today.
People often say that the opposition are the "worst team at the Valley this season" but Wimbledon were really lacking in any fight or ambition. They tried in last 15 minutes but not what you expect from a Wally Downes or Wimbledon team.
Bowyer was brave, regardless, by going with three at the back and we dominated possession.
It seemed just a matter of time before we scored but Reeves was wasteful and Fosu didn't do enough with the wealth of possession he had.
Lovely finishes from Taylor and Marshall to win it.
Ajose worked hard and good assist. Back three comfortable as had little real defending to do until late on. Aribo maybe not at his best but very busy.
Would have to see the Sarr sending off again but looked like he slid in with his studs up and caught the attacker. Wet pitch might not have helped but it was worth a card, question is which colour.
Both Pinnocks yellows seemed justified. AFCW had one attack in 20 mins which resulted in a sending off!
The six points this week put us right in the mix. Another ground out win but that's what we need to do to go up. Happy days.
The Sarr sending off - was sitting in lower West and wrong end. Was it a deserved red? Didn't seem to make much of a difference - they made us look like Barcelona. Truly the worst team I have seen for a long time.....doomed.
I posted this as the final post on the preview thread before it was closed:
Suffering with an arthritis flare up so won't make the game.
Last time it happened and I missed the game was when we played Barnsley and won 2-0 so hopefully I'll end up taking another one for the team today and miss a victory.
Jesus I dont think I've ever seen a worse team down the Valley - Its not even the performance from Wimbledon that was bad yet the comments from Downes afterwards!!
Listening to him on BBC Radio London he felt that Wimbledon played quite well in the first half and did well to ensure that we had no clear cut chances, in addition felt that 2-0 was a bit harsh as he thought that they could have gotten what would have been a deserved equaliser!!
To break that down... They had a man advantage for 30 MINUTES, during that time they barely got out of their half and only ensured we got had no chances because they defended so deeply... It was a bloody embarrassment that a team would have that sort of advantage and not try to capitalise upon it... What was even more bizarre was perhaps the fact that maybe they did deserve to score in the last 10mins (Until Marshall scored) yet in that case why didnt they play like that for the rest of the game, it really was a carbon copy of an England v San Marino game where the opposition know they're going to lose so try to limit the score
As for Charlton I thought we were extremely impressive in what were very difficult conditions - Still dont think it was a red card (a yellow at most) yet otherwise I thought Kettle remained consistent throughout the match (not consistently poor either) and was relieved to see him having the balls to book Pinnock for what was an embarrassing dive (Should have been a straight red for that) - In terms of the players I thought that Aribo dominated in midfield and we saw a few more glimpses of the old Fosu, certainly in the second half as in the first period he was woeful with his crossing!! - Certainly two lovely finishes from Lyle Taylor and Mark Marshall, especially the latter as felt that Bowyer made a mistake with the substitutions which was what allowed Wimbledon back in the game briefly!!

Increasingly annoyed by idiots who don't understand football slagging off 70% of our side around me.
There really is some thick twats in our support.
If people want faultless football they should fck off to a prem club on a saturday, maybe they will get the 30yd strike top bins they crave or the faultless crosses they need to witness.
It's league 1, it is what it is with flashes of brilliance here and there.
Might have missed it earlier but does Kettle have the distinction of issuing the most red cards in the league? If true surely the FA notices that pattern.
Someone, or some persons, hasto issue the most. It’s if it’s an abnormal number that would attract the FA’s attention.
Most noticeable for me is level on points with Peterborough. They were cruising ahead of us at one point and seem to have had their usual mid season crumble
Just got home soaking wet and cold But it was well worth it. A few points. Kettle is a a shite ref. Lyle Taylor is one of our best ever signings especially at this level. Marshall is starting to show what he can do,really pleased for him when he scored. If we can stop getting so many injuries we can smash this league.

Was any of that aimed at Reeves? Watching on iFollow I noticed he was the one player willing to keep trying difficult passes. It often led to him giving it away but you need to take that risk against a team sitting back like Wimbledon did.
2 goals and a clean sheet to warm us up on a miserable day. I thought our game management was perfect after Sarr went off ( which I missed as I was too busy cleaning my bins after walking into the ground ) as we didn’t panic and kept hold of the ball against a limited Wimbledon side. A special mention for Pinnock who made carthorses look nimble and lighfooted. I thought Ajose did well and was unlucky with the one on one but had already got us in front with a lovely ball in for Taylor to poke past the keeper. We controlled that game from minute one, weathered a tea-cup-size storm from the Wombles when the subs were made, then pushed on for the second after a strong run from Marshall saw him free on the edge of the box and finish the game off.

Exactly what is Jason Pearce saying right then, while Naby is praying for forgiveness ....?
From Gk to striker they were absolute shit.
Sorry Waggy
No I didn't mean you Kettle.
The third Cafc game when he has done the double Red card.
Oldham away (waggy and Hollands)
Bolton home (2 Bolton players)
Dons home ( 1 each )
...once we were two up.
I suppose the cup game is all forgotten

Well pleased with that. When you go a man down in the first minute you fear the worst
One of my best mates is an AFC fan, with him now. It’s bleak for them
Don’t think I’ve ever seen a team sit back with a man advantage. Was as if we had the man advantage until it got evened up
