    Rain delay.
  • At Canterbury today and to say the least it has been a frustrating day.

This is the second break for rain and the 10 groundsman have been doing a superlative job in the circumstances.

Covers coming off and we can but hope that there will be some more play today especially as the former England captain will first to bat.

  • Play due to start at 4.00
  • Browne out. Caught by Rayner in the slips off Podmore. Steveo has had Sir Cook playing and missing

    8-1
  • Essex racing along on 15-1 off 10

    Cook 3 off 31
    Wesley 0 off 18
  • Rain stopped play - again!!!

    32-1 off 14.4

    Cook 8 off 45
    Wesley 10 off 33
  • Play abandoned

A bit of a waste of time and money
  • is it only me that finds it odd that theres a 4 day game in the middle of T20's?

It's only a recent development having a solid block of one competition (to help get overseas players for the Blast)

And if England for example need a new opening batsman for the 4th Test, this is a great chance for players to make a case which otherwise they wouldn't get

Sitting by the lime tree in lovely sunshine and looking forward to seeing Ex England captain Cook bat for a couple of Overs.
  • Woohoo !

    Capt Cook departs !

    LBW Stevens

Perhaps Cook isn't too old to retire after all
  • Did the commentators on Radio Kent just say that Adam Milne won't play for us again this season ? Thought I'd read he was injured recently......

They were discussing whether we might get in another overseas player , possibly Matt Henry.

    Thoughts/info, anyone ?
  • Harry P gets Lawrence !

    41 - 3 !!! And 1st bowling point ( apparently ) !
  • Essex 185 behind.

They still require another 36 runs, facing Stevo and Podders, to avoid the follow-on ...

    ;)
  • Harry Podmore strikes again.
Bopara in and out for a duck.
    41-4
  • Does ten schate in next for Essex.

As Nabi has left already (a planned departure) our Blast bowling attack does look a bit thin now
  • 49-5

    Stevens gets another LBW.
  • Is it too early for "Top of the league, you're having a laugh?"
  • 58-6

    You know what's coming ?

    Another LBW for Stevens

Stevo's hoping for a late call for duty in Leeds on Thursday.

    Milnes 3-1-8-0

    Harmer LBW.

Really wish I'd gone down today!

In Stevo's 15 overs there have been only eight scoring shots (three boundaries and five singles) with 82 dot balls. That's good control.

Meanwhile, at the other end, Mitch joins the party with his third delivery.

Essex 67-7, still 10 runs short of making Kent bat again.
