Plans to allow Millwall Football Club to develop housing around The Den are set to be signed off by Lewisham Council next week.

Lewisham plans to give the Championship club a 999-year lease on both The Den and the adjacent Lions Centre, which is used by the club’s community trust, removing a ban on residential development on the land.

Should be long enough to see you finally beat us at least once?

Just in case - any chance of extending the lease?

999 years. Apt no. Considering the crimes committed at the rusty ol place. Should give you enough time to win something.

999 years is about the length of time we're kept behind after games at The Den.

Now there is a club property speculators can really go for. 999 year lease and no residential development restrictions. Buy it, let the club drop a couple of divisions to diminish the numbers that go to games, move the team to some out of the way place with land that’s cheap as chips and then add to the multitude of expensive high rises that are creeping down the Thames and railway lines. Win/win all around as I see it 😁

I know this post was written with tongue firmly in cheek but what the recent developments at Millwall will do is put to bed the murmurs (and wishful thinking) on here about young James Berylson not being as commited as his late father. It’s early days yet but so far it would seem that James is definitely as commited as his dad, if not more so. He attended over half our home games this season, flying in from Boston each time to attend games. Don’t even think John did that many games and he loved the club.
