I went to this match with a few of my West Brom mates and they were all insistent Charlton were the best team they have seen at the Hawthorns this season and would be amazed if we didn't get at least a play off spot. A proud moment for me that was.

With 10 players injured, let that sink in. Lovely stuff.
Anybody know what's up with Toby Stephenson? He looked perfectly adequate when called upon last season. If fit he has to be a better option at left back/wing back than Solly on the wrong side, doesn't he? Square pegs in round holes have to be options of last resort, don't they?
Yeah, but they're all closet Baggies fans, talking about a "soft penalty".
They need to watch the clip again and see Sarr get kicked by their defender, with the ball chest height. It's a foul. The ref blew for the pen without hesitation, before Naby even hit the floor.
They've clearly picked out the quotes which were more complimentary to WBA, rather than the ones slagging them off!
Personally I've always loved West Brom, and think the Brummie accent incredibly sexy.
What do you mean, "Oi'm considerably richer than yow?"
I reckon that article was written by Louis Mendez, moonlighting for their local news. Remember he's secretly Palace; and would have no scruples trawling Charlton Life for Baggies friendly quotes.
They've cut my comment down so it just looks like I'm praising West Brom. I see they left out the bit where I said that both teams were so incompetent no-one should have been allowed to win. Funny that.
Chuks doesn't look great at the moment but neither did Purrington, Pratley, Lockyer, Philips or Sarr early on and they didn't turn out too badly.
Purrington still doesn’t look any good to me but at least he can kind of defend and largely keeps his shape . I think both of them represent the type of players that we can realistically afford. Lockyer bucks that trend, as have players like Lyle- obviously both free.
The comedy award goes to @wmcf123. Shame you didn't see the last 20 League games in League 1, the 2 semi finals and the final at Wembley where Purrington was excellent, rumour has it he scored a goal.

Misquoted in a newspaper! You should sue.
I think that might be a generous classification for the Birmingham Mail
It does make me wonder though, were we all this smug and arrogant, and expected to rollover whomever we played in our first season after prem relegation?

Well, very much so I would say and very intolerant of our own players shortcomings. I think it is very much part of the boom and bust cycle that nearly all clubs go through over time. Having reached our lowest ebb we are now on an upward curve with a management and team we all believe in and we have effectively cleaned the slate and the synchronicity between fans and team is at it's highest point. (Notwithstanding it may be built on sand under the present ownership). At some point in the future we will reach a zenith and things will change and the cycle will start all over. First the freeloaders, plastics and where-were-you-when-we-were-shit will turn on the team and eventually even loyal fans if the team continues to fail. But hey, let's have some success first
Has anyone got a clip of the Livermore tackle on Gallagher in the first/second minute?
it's not on the sky highlights vid, though it might be on the Quest package .. the sending off foul was included .. Livermore's foul was worth a red and set the agenda for what was a fractious game full of needle .. I hate to write this, BUT, it made the game all the more interesting .. nowadays if our players are intimidated, they fight back, they have the Bowyer mentality, long may it last

It wasn't on Quest. That they didn't show it, and Bowyer hasn't mentioned it suggests it probably wasn't worth a red?

Bowyer appreciates that filthy tackles are part and parcel of the game .. I can't recall him making any comment about foul/dirty play by any opposition, but then again I don't listen to or read about every word the master utters
+ Won a penalty + Defended well + Set up Gallagher for what would have been a goal of the season contender
- Passed it straight to their winger who should have scored - A couple of long balls went to their keeper rather than Solly - There was another bad pass in there somewhere too - Narrowly failed to heroically prevent the first goal. Would have been heroic though. Wasn't his fault; it was a good cross
All in all, a good day, although his determination to play the beautiful game was a little more hair-raising than usual. Telling our Naby to 'just hoof it' would defy the grandeur of Nature, however, so I hope he's not dissuaded.
This episode of SARRWATCH brought to you by Dillon Phillips, without whom it would have gone very differently
Is SARRWATCH like Springwatch but without the farmers’ totty that is Kate Humble.
Comments
a deserved point - ref made a few shocking errors.
looking at the table to be 10 points away from the relegation spots is good going when you look at the injuries we have.
Edit. Can't seem to load the flaming thing as a video. Oh well

I'll get off my soapbox now, mumble, mumble.

That makes him alright with me.
