The footballers and backroom team, and the coaches and management have not left me feeling ashamed one little bit. With the obvious exceptions. They did their best, nobody hid. Thanks guys.
Bloody hell Bowyer and the team could massacre children and you’d let it go.
Sorry, had we had even a little more tactical management, we would have stayed up. We were fucked by that, combined with Taylor’s injury and departure, and that of Gallagher. I’m not proud of being relegated, we went down in a flurry of poor football and turgid inability to hit an elephants arse with a banjo.
Are you completely oblivious to the bigger picture?!
It's a minor miracle that we got promoted last year. We've then played this season with a weaker squad than the one that miraculously got promoted. Every team we've played this season has spent more in transfer fees and more on wages than we have. Consequently, every point we've earned this year has been a point earned against the odds.
If we'd ended the season 20 points adrift of safety it wouldn't have been Bowyer's fault. He's got the maximum out of nothing.
What manager do you think world have kept us up?
For f#ck's sake, we've been under a transfer embargo since January and we spent the entire January transfer window putting bids in for players that we weren't allowed to sign.
Do you actually think that we'd have been better off with the same shambolic ownership and a different manager, rather than proper owners and the same manager?!
We gave it our best shot. Was worried at the start of the season we would finish with 10 points be humiliated. Losing Bauer and Aribo before the season was bad. Losing Leko. Gallagher and the one who didn’t want to play was ridiculous. Bowyer, Jacko and Gallen all have my hundred percent support.
The coaching staff and all the players who stuck with it this season fill.me with pride; not their fault and i wish them all the very best with everything they do.
Lee Bowyer, Johnnie Jackson and the players gave it everything. When it was all against them they made no excuses and persevered
I'm absolutely heartbroken, all I want from a Charlton player is commitment, we all accept the great players won't stick around but they must give it their all while they play for us or are involved with us.
I'm.not including that fucking tumour called Taylor. The little bitch
Quality has been lacking this season but we have essentially had a weaker squad than we had at the start of last season and the players to my eyes most of the time have left it all on the pitch
This relegation has hurt more than the 4 others I can remember
I hope Lee and his team dont do anything rash, just go home, think about what they have achieved against all the odds, and maybe in a short while a new owner will give them the opportunity to do the job properly.Lee must hate these bastards as much as we all do,how he has not chinned any of them is a miracle.

Spot on. All I want from a Charlton team is 100% commitment and we got that from everyone other than a select few. A bitter-sweet relegation in that sense.
Thanks to Bows, Gallen, Jacko and the rest. Couldn't be prouder of that bunch of guys representing us during the run-in. They never hid from it. I'm sure it's the last we'll see of many of them out there, and they go with my thanks.
I think Bowyer did great putting the squad he did together and had a terrible injury crisis and ESI jokers scuppering our hopes ultimately or we would have stayed up. Had he been a bit more positive in winning positions, I think we would have got a few more points and could have stayed up despite the many obstacles, but many managers sit on leads. Maybe if our defence was not prone to errors it would have been a viable tactic.
Still, we all know Sheffield Wednesday are as guilty as sin. Is there going to be a lifeline? 12 points deducted from them will save us.
Impossible job Nearly achieved Star striker quits on us Best player leaves us in January Crippling injuries Toxic cancer running the club What have we done to deserve this
I agree - a big thanks to LB and his team and i can't fault the effort of the players - god knows what is gonna happen now and it looks pretty grim but i'm sure we'll bounce back - it doesn't take long to turn things around in football and we still have much more potential than our neighbours that's for sure - we have to get the ownership and ground etc sorted then we'll have another go - that's life - we'll get it right again some time soon i'm sure

I totally agree with you my Charlton fellow fan 👍 Bowyer is a great man, and with the right backing and support would have kept us up. he was let down by egotistical scumbags in and off the field 👎👎👎

No, had Bowyer not been let down by egotistical scumbags on and off the field we would have been safe 3 games ago bowyer did his best with fuck all help. especially from that Scumbag Taylor!!
Bowyer, Gallen, Jacko and Marshall are superb... Any kind of support and we were on a winner. Bowyer will go and I suspect the others will follow but I hope beyond hope we find a way to keep them, I think Bowyer could be replaced (with luck, judgement etc) whereas Gallen I see as irreplaceable.
The players all gave their all but just were not quite good enough at the end of the day.

Agree, we had a manager to be proud of who got the best out of the players, regardless of results and individual performances and the abysmal backroom ongoing.
LB had some shortcoming as a manager, agreed. At times, you could question his selection, formation or the changes. But, this was the first time I've felt connected with a manager for a long time and he genuinely felt belief that we could pull off a miracle. Until the last minute of the season, that belief filtered into even the most pessimistic.
The squad that we finished this season with was without a doubt weaker than the squad that achieved promotion in league one. What can a management team do with that? To finish anywhere other than 24th is commendable. Against all odds, we have fought to the bitter end but we just didn't have enough.
This club has huge potential with the support behind it. It feels like the end, but perhaps (wishful thinking) this is the start of something brighter for this club - new owners pending?

We've questioned his tactics, formations etc but in reality it's very easy after a game to be critical, and every team has 20k or so managers ready to say what they would've done.
Whatever happens now, whether Bowyer goes or stays, whether its JJ that takes over, we owe them our thanks, and everything that came their way they moved moutains to give us a fighting chance until the end.
There were times when I got frustrated at how some of the games transpired, substitutions, tactics and not being able to see out a game from either a draw or winning position, but all of that pales in comparison to the absolutely monumental effort and achievements that Bowyer and his back room staff have given us against the backdrop of Hell.
You will not find another manager or management team that could’ve gotten us to the final day in with a shout of staying up. We owe them a tremendous gratitude for without them it would’ve been much, much worse.
All of the players played with pride and gave us everything. We just didn’t have enough quality at the end of the day, but that’s nothing to be ashamed of based on the commitment, blood and guts the team have shown.
I remember the Sheff Weds game at home, Bowyer having to work out how to fit Vennings and Dempsey into a team, led by Pratley. It’s testament to Pratley’s ability and professionalism that he played this role at the age of 35, game in, game out, when he didn’t have the likes of Cullen alongside him to help, because of our crippling injury list. I remember the opening day of the season going up to Blackburn in hope more than expectation because Gallen had had to work miracles on a shoestring in the summer. I remember promising youngster Gallagher being suddenly recalled from his loan spell because we were deemed not footballing/good enough a team for him to learn his trade. Who could forget the super duper phone, the fraudulent Matt Southall, the fake Gucci handbag vendor, Tahnoon Nimer and now the very bent Chris Farnell, bleeding the club dry as they line up the next bunch of hyenas ready to pick away at the carcass of what is left of our club. Or, what about the exceptional level of professionalism that Bowyer was dealt when the selfish Lyle Taylor bottled out of his contractual commitment to the club and said he wasn’t up for the fight because he was too worried about getting injured?
I could go on as there are hundreds of other examples of external circumstances that have meant we should be grateful for what Lee and the team achieved. Did they deserve to stay up, no. Would we have been completely marooned without a pot to piss in had it not been for Lee and the way the players applied themselves over the season, absolutely.
I have never been prouder of a Charlton manager in all my time of supporting us. I will miss him if he goes, but he certainly does deserve better than the shit show he’s miraculously managed in these last few years.
Thank you Lee and all of the players who finished the season

No way that will happen, they may get a fine & a points deduction but not enough to relegate them or if they do get a 12 pointer it will carry over to next season. The efl will not relegate them after the season has finished.
Devastated about tonights results. I'd be surprised if any on our management staff decide to stay given how much of a mess we are.
Must wanted to thank Lee, Johnny, Grant and all the lads that decided to see out the season. None of you are the reason we got relegated. That blame falls on the twats in the boardroom who've fucked us over, and the c***s who couldn't be bothered to see out the season.
Thanks to each and everyone of you who've given everything to this club over the last couple of years.

What decent manager would dream of joining this fucking shambles ? While his tactics & substitutions may have had people scratching their heads at times I would suggest he got a lot more right than wrong but more than anything he revitalised the club CAFC (not the owners) & the supporters in a way not seen since the Curbishley years. Hopefully if things move quickly off the field & it's a massive if I know perhaps LB & staff will see a brighter future under decent owners. Clutching at straws maybe but we can only hope.

I agree. I have been a strong supporter of Lee all the way through... My comment was more that if we were a stable club once again (or Varney/Barclay) that, for me, Gallen is the most irreplaceable. Bowyer would be tough to replace but someone like Cowley would be a good fit I think plus I reckon JJ would have a great chance of success if the stability was there.
Being a Charlton fan for fifty plus years Ive learned to galvanise myself for days like these. However, days like these make days like Wembley last year all the sweeter.
Its just how it is being a Charlton fan, ups and downs, highs and lows thats how football should be. Personally wouldnt swap if for the Premier league where basically there is nothing to play for other than avoiding relegation and paying overseas prima donnas more money than they are worth. Of course Im a bit sad, but its nothing new is it?
Massive thank you to Bowyer, Jacko, Gallen and the boys for Wembley last year and the effort this season.......
Massive fuck off to Taylor....the epitomy of why I hate the amount of money some clubs seem to splash around on unworthy people.
Bring on a salary cap and some sort of normality to end the money madness gripping our game.....the only losers at the moment are the fans of our historic clubs.
Huddle at half time said it all. Bunch of lads out there that were going to give their all regardless of the fact it was totally apparent things were reliant on events elsewhere. Can have nothing but admiration for the group that were around when the whistle tolled within the training ground environment, which Lee has effectively had to reinvent in a very short space of time. Certainly nothing but pride in players that have taken pride in wearing a Charlton shirt over the last few weeks regardless, as for the management team, admirable is an understatement.

That away day at Portsmouth season before last was something else.
Then the scenes last season, particularly the second leg of the play offs.
Even this season there have been some cracking performances and come backs against the odds, like Reading and WBA away and Leeds at home.
He has also improved most players who he's kept.
Great memories I'm thankful to him and his team for.
He deserves a chance at a club who will back him. Real shame it doesn't seem to be at Charlton.
