Until a few months ago Gillesphey wasn't thought as a good enough to be part of a team challenging for promotion. He was let go by Plymouth who didn't fancy him for the Championship.

He's suddenly a club legend here and potentially first choice in the Championship over a player who's been first choice for a club playing there the last couple of seasons when fit,  fans would rather keep, and who's been offered a new contract there.

    Funny old game indeed.
Anybody remember Simon Francis? Myself included, I thought he was one of the worst players to ever wear a Charlton shirt.

He then went onto be a fine player in the Championship and indeed the Prem for Bournemouth!

Can someone not message Cawley and ask him to find out.

This is what we are paying him for!  ;-)

They have. His answer was basically that he knows as much as we do

I'll say this though, I have a distinct memory of him scoring a goal with his arse one time. Which is an Iconic Move few actually unlock
Pearce and Macaulley Bonne are 2 I remember doing that.

Point of clarification on the Plynouth didn't want him point. They switched from a back 3 to a back 4 meaning only 2 CB slots and the change of system didn't suit Macca at all. Tbh it still doesn't. If we were to suddenly switch to a back 4 I wouldn't want him as first choice.

In a back 3 with the growth we have seen under Jones I am confident he will be a very good championship player.

Do we think he will be first choice over Bell ?

Based on the preseason so far I'd guess that Bell might have pipped him to a starting role but there's time to go yet so let's see what happens.

I'm surprised he's still only 26. It feels like a very long time ago that he was playing for us.
