Injured players -2020 - 2021 Season

Gilbey has hardly been overplayed this season though! He last played a 90 on the 8th January, and hasn't played at all in the first team since the 19th Januarygolfaddick said:
I know in all the English Leagues there are more hamstring injuries this season due to the real lack of a pre-season and games coming sat/tues/sat...............however, we seem to pick up ours during training.PragueAddick said:Rich Cawley just tweeted that Gilbey did his hamstring in training.
That's the 3rd hamstring in 6 weeks. Watson and JFC both picked up in early game period.
@Sage, what do you think, mate.? Isn't it an indication that things still aren't right in that dept?
I have to say I don't know why players need to be exerting themselves in training. They should all be "match fit" and the time would be better off spent with shooting practice or defending tactics.0 -
Is it more, or less worrying, that players are pulling hamstrings while jogging than running full pelt?Sage said:
This time of the season you always get more muscular injuries and even more so given the circumstances of this season.PragueAddick said:Rich Cawley just tweeted that Gilbey did his hamstring in training.

I think the department is in the best shape it’s been for a while. I wouldn’t worried at all. The hamstring injuries aren’t severe at all, only Doughty this season. F-Caskey’s is minor as is Gilbey’s by the sounds of it.
My guess is ones done sprinting are normally worse but also more "freaky"?0 -
In short, no. I don’t believe the training intensity would be too high. Bowyer gets them to train hard but that’s normal and they all would be used to it by now. They also have more recovery sessions than most other sides in this league.Dazzler21 said:
Cheers Sage, once again I don't believe we have issues in the medical side of things, more likely an issue in the training side of things.Sage said:

Do you think the alleged intensity of training could be having an additional affect on the number of muscular injuries we're having?
As a part of this, Albie Morgan has been called out by Bowyer as having trained well of late. If he's the next to go down with a muscular injury in training caused by overworking and under recovering such as hamstring/quad strains i'd be lying if I were to say I wasn't concerned by what is beginning to look like a fact that certain players need to bust a gut to get into the squad increasing their fragility.
***I do realise we've only been really looking so closely at injuries this season, so we may have similar numbers to regular seasons so our dataset is imperfect to look at.
Injuries are part and parcel of the game. If it was to do with intensity we would see far more soft tissue injuries like ligaments, tendons etc. I believe...2 -
Have said for ages and ages, hamstrings do my nut in. Players don’t often have the correct ratio between quad and hamstring strength and they also often stretch their sciatic nerve instead of the hamstrings itself.Cafc43v3r said:

I believe that’s a huge factor in many athletes injuries.6 -

ryan inniss should go straight into the lineup for our game against bristol rovers. for now I just pray we get at least 2 points over the next two games. we're crap but we are almost defensively solid here. lets do this 2017/2018 style

Sure if you want to risk him being out injured again immediately.WK6824Nine said:ryan inniss should go straight into the lineup for our game against bristol rovers.0 -

Sounds like the Crewe match will be rearranged then from Bowyers comments.MattF said:

Millar may be picked on previous reputation and performances for Canada. Not sure.
Gunter is fit but not sure he's getting in the Welsh side, he is probably helped by the fact that Matthews is injured...
They have three fit right backs playing in the two levels above.
Can't see it happening IMO.1 -
A bit presumptuous to say "international break" when we have "only" 3 full internationals, and it's not a guarantee all 3 would be called up. If one was injured, we'd be down to 2
Slightly surprised that Matt Smith has no youth caps, as youngsters at clubs like Arsenal always seem to get callups.0 -
I want the international break simple because it annoys me looking at the table seeing everyone has two games in hand.3

Yeah for peace of mind I want everyone to catch us up on games played, though we know we'd be about 11th when they do,BR7_addick said:I want the international break simple because it annoys me looking at the table seeing everyone has two games in hand.IF
Bowyer were to go to Pompey or Brum, an International break might be ideal for the replacement to get some time with the players.0 -
Anyone know when Gilbey might be fit again?0
-
Should be fit now... Seem to recall Bowyer wanting him and Inniss to play for the U23s before they return to the First TeamBigRedEvil said:Anyone know when Gilbey might be fit again?
Adkins said something yesterday about an U23 game somewhere tomorrow that he's going to go and watch so hopefully both will be involved0 -
We actually have relatively few injuries at the moment, with Gilbey and Inniss about to return. Just Washington then, as I imagine he will be out for 3 or 4 weeks?
On Quest they mentioned that Blackpool have 7 out at the moment1 -

We don't know how bad Washington's hamstring was. Could be minor 1-2 weeks. I would expect he won't be available for our first game after the intl break even if he is fit for it.

Which is nothing really. None are serious injuries, for the 1st 2 should be back after the breakDazzler21 said:
