We have to recondition ourselves to the reality that even with injuries, the squad is now strong enough. Even when we got promoted, that wasn't the case. The danger is looking at the players that are out rather than the players that are in. We now have the resilience and it is something we have tested earlier than we hoped for, but it is there. Other clubs are going to find it difficult I predict.
Not read all the posts, so I realise I may be repeating what someone else has said, but I heard on the commentary and saw at least one post earlier in the thread that mentioned the break. We have three more games before that break, so is it really relevant at this stage?
I thought Williams looked much better than previous games and when he went forward it caused them no end of problems. Still some improvement required and he faded away (lack of match fitness) but their midfield couldn’t contain him in the pocket. So pleased to see him put in a performance and get the goal, a fit and firing Jonny will scare the shit out of teams
I agree with your comments regarding a fit and firing JW, but regarding your comment about him looking much better than previous games, it is hard to recall the last time that he has had a chance to shine in a game having been almost ignored by Lee in his team selection. He clearly has the ability to do good, as he shows with his performances for Wales, so yes be good to see him playing more regularly and getting more goals.
Jonny has a 60 minute battery that appears to just stop when he goes over that. Anyone who saw the Welsh game against England would see that. It's just fatigue most of the time maybe caused by being fouled or constantly looking for fouls. When Jonny plays longer, he then needs to go to the bench to recover and just play 30 minutes or less in the next match.
Jonny goal wasn't as spectacular as his Welsh goal but was in the same place, as he got on the end of a good cross from Ruud.(I can't call a Dutch lad Ian !) Aneke goal came from Smyth's great cross.
Good crosses from left or right, it still a great way to score.
I posted on the previous match thread that I had not looked at the table since our winning run started. Unfortunately, they flashed up the league table on Soccer Saturday before the game and I thought that's torn it. I might complain to Sky; they could have announced here is a spoiler alert for Pettgra.

To be fair, in the past every time he has started a game, he's showed why LB has left him on the bench.
Today was the first time I've seen him play well in a really long time. Long may it continue.

After Tuesday's game we have the FA cup and then the Tin Pot trophy that we are already out of. I think Bowyer sees that as a chance to rest some of the players that have played every game so far. Would expect a complete youth team in the second of those fixtures.
Interesting selection dilemma at CB for Tuesday, Does he keep Gunter and slot Inniss alongside him (Two right footers), will he put Purrington in and keep more of a balance or will he move Pratley back now that Watson is able to play again?
Great win , things coming together nicely , just wish we could be there to actually watch it all live , but for the greater good I guess. Roll on when all this shit is finally finished with.
Very impressive map. Looking good I'm most areas. Those areas we struggled in most were long balls down the right from Amos and channel balls from Gunter. This tells me that we missed Doughty.
Brilliant performance yesterday and Bowyer, with Gallen and Sandgaard, has built what looks like a fantastic squad well equipped to do very well this season. I would urge a note of caution though-we’ve only played nine games and it is a bloody long season.
We’ve had a good start, as a few teams have, but history has taught me to leave alone any talk of where we are going to finish with this many games to go.....
This.
Look at last season. After half a dozen games people were dreaming of promotion to the Prem. During the International break we lost Taylor & then a host of injuries saw us slide down the table.
Any talk of promotion should be saved until Easter time.
There’s no harm in speculating how well the team could possibly do? It’s not as if it has any sort of impact on the outcome
I'm not expecting a centre forward to be knocking it around like a midfielder, but shouldn't a centre forward like Bogle be making more than 9 passes in 71 minutes? You'd have thought he'd be making more layoffs to other players
Love how it counts Famewo kicking it out for his injury a failed pass
I really enjoy looking at these pass maps, but that’s the only downside of them. Same as last week Doughty failed pass actually led directly to the own goal.

Maybe the key is Matthews' fitness?
He played well overall yesterday but sometimes he looked a little rusty. Is he fit enough to play again on Tuesday without making him an injury risk waiting to happen?
Otherwise Gunter will be needed at RB. And Prats, overdue for a rest, will have to slot in beside Lurch.

Pratley has not played the last couple of games like he's overdue a rest. I think he probably sees this as his last big season and is putting absolutely everything into it

Yes, even Gunter could be a risk, considering the number of full 90s he's played after a long period out.

He seems to have it all, and his calmness on the ball is a particular strength. Just seems to have more time than other players.
Be interesting to see if he can keep it up.

Then rest all those who need a rest for the two upcoming cup games.
