Had my COVID jab last Friday, felt like shit Saturday, missed the Reading win. But wouldn't put me off having another booster when it's necessary.5

These days I try to be factual rather than post criticism of individual posters but I’m afraid you are talking nonsense. SARS was a real problem which thankfully was less transmissible than Covid-19. Please read the below link which explains why SARS was contained. It didn’t “just blow over”. Many of the lessons learned in 2003 were invaluable in the eventual battle against Covid. At £115 dollar equivalent I’m not that surprised. Theres also that a lot of people have decided that the pandemic is over which to a large extent it is. I’ve taken my free NHS vaccination but had I needed to pay £115 at this stage I’d have thought seriously about it.PeanutsMolloy said:

I think also there's a big difference (for most, but not the highly vulnerable) in the situation now and the situation three years ago. Because there are high levels of immunity in the population, largely thanks to the vaccines, neither the spread nor the effects seem as bad. I'll have a shot next time I'm offered, but I'd probably baulk at coughing up £115. That's nothing to do with Americans waking up or Americans being stupid. It is though, a very good demonstration of why public health care trumps private provision every time.8

I accept that you believe there is no evidence of the vaccine having saved a life, but, out of interest, what would such evidence look like? What would you expect to see to show that a vaccine, or any kind of medical intervention, had saved someone's life?

They were very athletic in their younger days, but now have knee problems. Despite this they are still quite active. A couple of weeks back, one knee became swollen. Off to the doc, who drew some fluid for testing, and then back for a cortisone shot while they consider knee replacement. But this person is now convinced this was caused by their last Covid shot. I could at least understand it if they’d just had the booster, but their last shot was September 2022. There was an hilarious incident in the Canadian Parliament recently when the Speaker had invited an elderly Ukranian WW2 veteran to attend the chamber. Zelensky was also in attendance as part of a state visit. The Speaker introduced the Ukrakian veteran as a hero who had fought against the Russians in WW2.A standing ovation ensued from all MPs including PM Trudeau. It was only later that it was pointed out that if he was fighting Russians then he was on the side of the Nazis.Cue red faces all round and the Speaker forced to resign in embarrassment!0
