This is NOT a criticism per se but most of the questions/complaints from Lifers today could have been foreseen & discussed over the period of time Bob Munro indicated since clubs were made aware of the upcoming situation.
We also knew that the DA postcodes would cause problems ( see BFG94's post above) but some stated this would be dealt with....How many other Kent residents will be offered tickets and decide not to query it ?
Then we hear that under 18s/younger children have been offered a ticket but NOT the adult in the same household.
My fear is that this is going to be a fiasco and may well have implications on the forthcoming matches which those of us missing out on Weds evening will suffer....
Well done to CAST for endeavouring to indicate the problematical areas of the issue but sadly, I think the horse had already bolted.
I queried my position very early on Fridsy. I got a reply on Saturday early saying I would have to go if chosen or produce a shielding letter which I have never received. Many people who perhaps should have didn't. However I lodged a claim that even without underlying conditions 70 plus are more vulnerable to Covid .
I have not yet received a reply. I did phone the club to opt out in the end. Never the less no e-mail. I was shocked by the club's initial response as it flies in the face of all government advice at this time.
I’m very certain no one at the club told you that you “would have to go if chosen” - it’s a third division football match not bloody military conscription.
Well you are most certainly wrong. The e-mail I was sent said that I had to produce a letter of shielding to opt out . What is it with you that can't believe that. I have no reason to lie about that.
He was highlighting your assertion that you would have to go or produce a shielding letter. Therefore, as you can't get a shielding letter you are saying the club are saying you have to go to the match. You are suggesting the club are forcing you to attend by presumably forcibly removing you from your abode and taking you to The Valley.
Perhaps, it would be a good idea to check what you write before posting. Just a suggestion.
I have a ticket for wednesday night but have to be at work at 23.00, live and work between Basingstoke and Newbury. The train times are 21.50 but the next one isn't until 22.36 meaning I wont be at work until 00.45.
This is usually fine when things are normal as I can usually get to work about 23.45 and a colleague stays on for me...Its too much to ask him to stay on for nearly two hours, I believe that fans were held back for the Doncaster game and at the station passengers were filtered through. Is the same likely to happen again.

I'd contact the club, but I imagine that you'll be allowed out of the stadium in stages.

Got my email now, link does exactly the same and doesn’t let me purchase. Might have something to do with the fact the email is addressed to my daughter but sent to my email address. Looks like somehow the club have somehow mixed the 2 up.
hopefully someone gets back to me in the morning to sort out
fair play for someone emailing me back very late last night, when I moved a couple of weeks back and changed my address on the system, I just assumed that it would alter my kids address as well - given that they are 13 and 10 and my daughters.
apparently it didn't and therefore they both have a ticket and I don't - obviously they can't go alone, hopefully they can sort me one today as well !
Has anyone received an email from the club telling them that they were unsuccessful in the ballot? I have heard nothing so far. I have checked my spam and junk.

I am guessing that nobody will receive an unsuccessful email/message until after the 2nd ballot today.
Sounds as though there could still be a couple of hundred tickets available.
If you are picked in the second ballot I would like to think you will still get priority in the ballot for the AFC game as effectively you were a loser in the first.
After all season ticket holders have had a go, are they going to do something for the fans who have been paying to watch the games?
Until the restrictions on capacity are increased to above the amount of season ticket holders there is no way any others fans can get tickets. Paying £10.00 per game for a stream is on offer to everybody at present, i'm not sure why the club should do anything more for people buying the streams. People seem to forget the money from streams is nowhere near the same as what it would be from ticket revenue.
And money from ST holders isn't the same as walkups either... just saying.
There's not a chance the full 2000 allocation will be used each week, would be a shame if a % isn't kept back (down the line) for online sales/VG etc
There are 4,800odd season ticket holders at least 2,000 will not be allowed to attend some games until a higher capacity is allowed, some of these will be Valley Gold members, people with over 600 loyalty points etc. The club is having to reimburse season ticket holders every game they are not allowed to attend, how or why should the club keep back tickets. Some people seem to think that season ticket holders are somehow privileged to attend matches that they have actually paid a lot of money upfront to attend.
Sweet, so you'll get to watch approximately 50% of the remaining games or get your money back. Theres nothing to complian about is there really ? Apologies for suggesting it might be nice in a month or 2, if a small % were kept aside for others.
I'm not the one complaining, i would rather be watching the 23 home games i've paid for, any compensation means nothing to me.
As much as I appreciate that, expecting to attend all 23 games during a pandemic was misguided.
There was an expectation at the start of September that the ground capacity would be around 6,000 so it was fair to assume as a season ticket holder you would be able to attend the majority of the games. This would probably have been a factor in people purchasing a season ticket in the knowledge tickets were likely to be at a premium and season ticket holders were high likely to get priority.
Doncaster was the test for 1,000 with the plan to increase the attendance following a successful test. The test was a success, unfortunately, the second wave hit and these plans were scrapped.

Especially as I’ve now set my heart on the AFC match so will probably be gutted if I get an email telling me I’ve got a ticket in the second ballot for Wednesday!

The email says you can’t opt out of the ballot, not that you “would have to go if chosen”. You’ve basically embellished that part. For someone who told another poster to get their facts straight I would try and ensure my own posts are accurate.

I read it You haven’t been successful in the ‘First’ ballot so effectively you get priority for the second game. If the you can’t make it those that were successful in the first should get a chance to take up the tickets ballot 2 don’t want/ can’t use for whatever reason.
Whether it will work like that though remains to be seen. I doubt it will.
I would imagine people who get the Saturday will be more likely to accept their ticket.
I would expect the club to arrange the AFC and Bristol Rover game by early next week.

Snap! And hope we don’t lose our CAFC cash if we can’t attend with little over 24 hours notice
Why are people trying to pick and choose their games. I get why Saturday's are more prefable to midweek but the season ticket is for all games, unless it is very much COVID specific why you cannot attend, if you can't go then that is the way it is in the same way it happens all the time under normal circumstances
Asking for a friend...Mates 10yr old has been given a ticket, rest of family don’t...🙄,so I take it he just has to drop him at the turnstiles at his allotted time with his iPad & bag of haribo’s & a nice friendly steward will show him to his sit & baby sit from a distance...then woken up at final whistle & ushered out to be picked up for home...🤔,mate can’t fathom out how that has been able to happen with his allocation, obviously that seat now won’t be taken either...he is asking is there a way to notify club,so ticket can be re-distributed cheers
@NorthheathAddick has he tried logging into his account and seeing if he can get a ticket? Assuming he lives same address as his son he should be eligible as they are same address.
The club contacted CAST early evening today to talk things through. They are doing their utmost to get 2K in for Weds if they possibly can. It is v complex with all the restrictions - taking train times into account for entry times, having to move position of programme sellers, needing stewards on all the toilets to maintain social distancing etc etc - loads of detailed stuff to put into place.
We know they only met with Royal Borough of Greenwich on Friday re safety approval. The ticket office staff had mainly been on furlough. Then they have all the issues of balloting and ticket priority with many more considerations than usual.
They are absolutely doing their best - it may not be perfect for every individual situation but they will review and learn from this for future games - though even that will be dependent on Gov announcements and changes at short notice beyond their control.
Oh, and it will cost them more to stage the game with spectators present, of course, and no incremental ticket income.
Let's bear with them, live and learn and support the fact that they have pulled out the stops to be the first London team to stage a match.
COYA!
Thanks Weegie, there was never any doubt in my mind. A brilliant effort.
I wholeheartedly agree.
Interesting to note that out of (presumably) 2k ST holders having been emailed today only around half have responded & gone on to buy a ticket. I can only assume that many of the remaining 50% either can't go (shielding / logistical ) or don't want to go (too old /cold / can't be arsed). I therefore expect quite a few tickets to be going back into the pile for a 2nd tranche after 1pm on Tuesday. But this is where I think it will become interesting as I reckon quite a few of the remaining 2800 odd that weren't lucky first time will be in tier 3 & therefore are barred anyway. In fact I would be amazed that 2000 out of the 4860 are in tier 2. Maybe that is the real reason why only 50% so far have been bought & you might find that a few tickets will have to go on general sale next time around.
You need to factor in that we have a very high family weighting for ST holders and traditionally have a low turnout for this group in winter evening games. You also need to factor in the inconvenience of sitting 4 or 5 seats away from your child, or whoever you are going with. It’s effectively a solitary outing that won’t be convenient for many. I’m not surprised at all if it’s say a 60% positive response from 2k.

Plus there are people keeping the country going when everyone else is tucked up....the early getting and late leaving the ground does effect a lot of people.

“Normal circumstances” don’t require you to potentially arrive longer before the match than the match itself lasts. Normal circumstances don’t require that you potentially can’t go to the next home match if you go to this one. Under these circumstances I’m not surprised that people would have a preference for one match over the other, I certainly do.
My cafc cash is doing weird and wonderful things today, previously had cash added for December games late November, today removed completely I guess awaiting outcome of second and subsequent ballots

Under normal circumstances I would have the seasons midweek games planned out in advance and get them in my husband’s diary at the start of the season so he can babysit. I had told him to keep Wednesday free but when I didn’t get a ticket told him he could go into London for work. Now if I get a ticket with 24 hours notice it doesn’t work and I don’t want to be penalised by not getting my Cafc cash (and then paying for the stream). Not cherry picking at all (as would have been grateful to attend either match)

Perhaps, it would be a good idea to check what you write before posting. Just a suggestion.
I had a choice.. go or not. If not I would lose my CAFC money and have to pay directly further £10 to stream the game. If I informed club non attendance they had the right to sell the ticket but not on my behalf. If I didn't bother to tell them I would be assumed to have printed it off.
I did check the e-mail again It told me to produce evidence to opt out which considering the circumstances we are in , is unfair.
If you did not bother to tell the club it would not be assumed you have printed the ticket off, as the system works IF you were chosen in the ballot you then go into the system and choose a test and my default allocated a ticket. I would also assume the club will know which tickets have been through the turnstiles on the night via the scanner.
I've just emailed the club asking them to find a new home for our two tickets, mine and my grandson's.
I wouldn't normally expect to take little 'un to a midweek game (under-11 season tickets are cheap enough not to worry about a few matches on a school night that he can't attend) and I have my own reasons for not going but given the limited attendance possible on Wednesday it only seems right that the ticket office has the opportunity to find someone who is able to go in our place.
I received a reply from the ticket office (the lovely Rhianna) at midnight asking if I wished to opt out from future ballots until government restrictions were lowered. I wasn't pressed for documentary evidence, forms filled out in three different blood types, or anything daft like that; they read my polite email explaining my situation why i didn't want my tickets for Wednesday and offered the opt-out.
This can't be an easy time for the Ticket Office so fair play to them.
I think the moral of this particular story is don't get stroppy or arsey, be polite and the chances are you'll get a half-decent outcome.

FFS, give it a rest.
You're going on and on and on over the same issue constantly on this thread. The Club are doing the best they can for the vast majority of people in extremely trying circumstances both on a logistical and strategic scale.
We get it, you feel hard done by, but all this moaning for the sake of not getting a free stream for tomorrow is getting pretty tedious. It's not all about you.
Will people in tier 3 get priority for the same number of games as they prevented from attending?
Probably difficult to administer.
I think the fairest way for this season will be to allow season ticket holders to apply for games they want to go to, then come the end of the season refund money or offset against the price of next year's ticket.
This season is not a headache for box office staff, it's a migraine.
