It’s disappointing to read the old ‘I bought a ticket when I didn’t even know if there would be a Club to support’ bollocks. So what? I had a season ticket from 1980 to 2017, so what? If you have one now then good for you as you can get to see the games. Does that bother me? No. I don’t have one, my problem. But don’t think that because you have one now you are somehow better than every fucking one else.
I genuinely don’t think anyone is suggesting they are better than anyone else.
I don't recall reading anyone even hinting that they are better. No idea where that's come from. I have read virtually everyone agreeing that if you have bought a ticket you should be allowed entry before someone who hasn't bought a ticket.
I can't recall any event in the whole world, that refused admittance to ticket holders, but then sold more tickets and admitted the new ticket holders. Could anyone imagine that happening?
You turn up anywhere, let's say the Olympics, World Cup, Euros and the stewards say sorry pal you are barred, because we're going to sell more tickets and let those people enter instead of you.
Redrobo, are you suggesting that people that have bought tickets should not be permitted entrance. But people who haven't bought tickets can be sold tickets so that they can enter instead?
That is one way of viewing it and in a normal season I would be behind this 100%. But we are in a very unique situation and it is not me that is not permitting entrance to anyone. No one who bought a season ticket did so with a realistic expectation to actually watch games from the start of the season and many have said that they bought one so that they would be at the front of the q to see a game, or they were like so many I know that said they may as well buy as they wanted their seat as soon as they could go in and would get back any unspent money and also wanted cheap tickets. All very fine, but against my advice to risk giving money to crooks that would have their money away given half a chance.
But look at it from another perspective, is it so wrong to say that on a normal game x% of tickets are season ticket holders, and y% of supporter that buy a ticket on the day, so the draw be on that basis?
Surely we are all just fans that should have a fair chance of watching a game. Is that too much to ask? An equal chance?
I would point out that I won’t be going because of age and health (and living in Kent) in any circumstances. But I know many that are devastated by this and I am sure that most can understand why.
But you've already acknowledged at the start of your post that this isn't a normal season, so that argument doesn't hold. Season tickets went off sale at a specified point so the club could put a seating plan in place that would maximise numbers in the ground, which was going to include a 1000 or so tickets held back for individual purchase. They're having to start again and giving priority to season ticket holders is perfectly fair.
And in the case of tomorrow at least, which may be different because of it being short notice and on a Wednesday night, there will be a mix of season ticket holders and non season ticket holders.
The loyalty point system worked for the Doncaster game probably because that was a one off test event, with the aim of allowing all season ticket holders and some walk-ups to subsequently attend.
Its different now that it's going to be only 2000 for the foreseeable, the ballot system is fair if it means everyone who bought a season ticket and is able to go should be able to see a game in person.
Out of interest, does anyone know how many buy the streams?
Over 3,000 a match.
That is a lot considering that a lot will be sharing with families.
I would guess that a good % are season ticket holders. Would it be so offensive if both were added together and entered into a ballot for tickets? If a season ticket holder were also streaming they would get twice the chance of getting a ticket. Would it not be better to give more fans the opportunity to see a game live?
You cannot give tickets to people who haven’t bought one at the expense of those that have. There is absolutely no scenario where people who haven’t bought a season ticket should have the chance to go to a match ahead of people who have.
Would 100% agree with SE9Addick, many people bought season tickets when it wasn’t certain they would be a club to support.
Many did not buy season tickets because they thought that by doing so would bring about the end of our Club. No one knew at the time who was right and we have been very lucky.
Why do you think that buying season tickets make you the most important fans? Do you think you are better than those who didn’t? Is having the money make you super fans? Is a fan who buys an individual ticket and has done so for the last 60yrs less of a fan? What about the points system that acknowledges fans who go home and away? I thought points were meant to be the deciding priority for tickets - those who go home and away?
You all come across as the type that buy a pass to jump the line at a theme park. Contempt.
Not at all past history shows season ticket holders will always get priority this is an argument that comes up every time there is a big game or lack of tickets
People decided to boycott and not support Roland or Southall and Farnell or can’t buy a season ticket due to other commitments doesn’t make them any less of a fan but due to the way the club defines priority season ticket holders come first.
Given there are over 4,800 (less those that can’t go due to medical reasons or in tier 3) and only 2,000 tickets then season ticket holders who would in normal circumstances be at every home game should in my opinion get first refusal. if they don’t take up all the tickets then by all means should go on sale to the remaining fans on a loyalty point basis: like they are likely to tomorrow.
I would expect demand go out strip supply for the AFC game as it’s a Saturday:
personally I would prefer the loyalty points To be used. I would be in the second tier due to the amount of games I went to away last season as well as having a season ticket for the past two seasons and therefore guaranteed to be in the top 2,000 for every game. However I am not selfish and i think the ballot Was the fairest way to distribute the tickets. The club have not on this occasion decided not to use the loyalty point system., which they did for Doncaster
Maybe the club should use the loyalty points as then fans that have bought tickets for home and away games and have more points than season ticket holders will then be recognised.
I appreciate fans have been going for years but the ticketing system is decided by the club and on the fairest basis they can and it only covers the past two seasons.
It’s very similar to when we get a big game and people who don’t have enough loyalty points start bleating it’s not fair I have been going for years and should get a ticket. the rules are set out at the start and we know what they are and all have to follow them.
It’s a shame we don’t get extra kudos for having a season ticket at Selhurst or Upton Park or going for over 44years I can’t have done anymore my Dad didn’t inflict Charlton on me until I was 5.
I don’t queue jump or pull favours to get ahead I just follow the rules set out by the club if the clubs decide to use loyalty points going forward if someone has been to more games in the period stipulated by the club to earn more loyalty points than me then by all means they have more right to a ticket than me if that is how the club decides to award tickets
As someone that went to Selhurst and Upton Park, has been a season ticket holder for years, and goes to a few away games I would normally agree.
I think the Club has done fantastically well to organise things for this game. I am not even asking for my self.
I would just like all fans to be given an equal chance of going.

So yes you think that people that have already bought tickets, should be put in an entry ballot with people that haven't bought tickets. Personally I think that is too ridiculous for words.
So if you had a tickets for the Euro finals next year that had cost you £400. You think it fair that you and all the ticket holders should be put in a ballot with non ticket holders to see who should be permitted entrance?
What about a few days before you go on holiday. Would you advocate going into a ballot with non ticket holders for your flight ticket? Etc etc.
I'm nearly speechless, but this thread has been very telling on how people think.
NB I can fully understand why people are devastated that can't go. But I'll never understand why anyone may think non ticket holders should be allowed entry to a sold out event at the expense of ticket holders.
I’m really surprised people are so not bothered about being asked to turn up at 6 o’clock for a game that kicks off at 7:45. I appreciate why, but if that was me, and then the prospect of being held back for another 30 mins after the game ! I think I’d rather stick with the stream.
An no I don’t think this makes me less of a supporter. I just can’t stand the thought sitting in the ground for so, long waiting. Especially as the main event is MK DONS.
Everyone's different Ralph. I wouldn't go if you offered me a free ticket and £100. Up to 4 hours in December and having to wear a mask all the time.
Mea culpa....with knobs on. Itchy hair shirt duly donned.
I wish to apologise for my lack of belief that our club would manage to organise the difficult & challenging task of "distributing" 2,000 seats at very short notice for the match tomorrow evening.
My main concerns centred around the priority issue and the possible problem of identifying correctly the postcode/tier in which fans reside.
Furthermore, on a personal level, I remember referring to the "bubbles" we had been asked to identify a while ago but which might not be considered at this juncture.
Oh me of little faith !
Too many seasons of inadequate management during the Duchatelet era had seriously taken their toll on my belief that a fair & well thought out system might be implemented....although during the latter years, Katie & her team had brilliantly overseen the sale of POTY tickets for us.
But the now fading memory ( thank the lawd!) of "Mandy, Oh Mandy, who came and messed up before leaving", remains in the depths of my mind....
It seems clear that the Ticket Office listened to the concerns of fans, mainly via this hallowed site, and CAST among others which is highly gratifying, especially as the majority was creative criticism & on the whole voiced the same questions that most of us needed answers to.
As a result, in my view, a clear, concise system of allocation has emerged which is testament to the work & very long hours that the Ticket Office team has invested into the framework we now have.
My family group of 5 failed to make the cut yesterday & a degree of concern was whether Wadhurst had been lumped into tier 3 alongside its neighbour, Tunbridge Wells but today's email confirmed that this was not the case.
With 2 teenagers at different schools and a younger grandson requiring a baby sitter, the email received at 2.30 pm today was sadly too late for arrangements to be made and so, we decided to have our "numbered ball" put back in the hat for priority on the 12th when childcare & travel together will not be a problem. As I understand it from the welcome updates on the OS, this will be the way the system is designed.
So, for those of you who will be making the noise at our home tomorrow, enjoy & cheer the lads on to victory for Fanny & co, please.
I'll be watching via VP in the company of Terrific Terry and Gorgeous Greg, raising my glass of Lidl's finest, nervously crunching 3 M&S humbugs ( HAS to be 3 !) and terrifying our quiet, Japanese neighbour with my high pitched, triumphant screams ( hopefully) at intervals.
Thursday morning will invariably see a big grin on his face accompanied by a salacious wink when he catches sight of Mr F in the garden...
@Redrobo your view on tickets is not only ridiculous, it would also set a dangerous precedent in ticket buying.
Imagine there was an allocation of 40,000 tickets for Wembley, but they were put on sale to Charlton fans before the playoffs. The first wave of tickets were sold for £100 and included tickets to the semi final and a guaranteed final ticket. Then when we actually made the final, Charlton suddenly turned around and said the people that bought tickets to the semi final for £20 can now buy a ticket for the final for £20, and if we sell more than 40,000 in total then everyone that bought a ticket gets put into a draw no matter how much you paid and when.
Would that be fair in your eyes? Because in my eyes that would be hugely unfair on the people who bought in advance, and basically stuck their cock on the block at a time of uncertainty

If he only knew !
Well done OUR club ! It's good to have you back !
Fanny: so you got an email telling you that you were unsuccessful in the ballot? I have had no email despite living in BR6 (Orpington/LB BROMLEY). Should I be worried then that the club think I am in tier 3?
Did anyone else in BR6 or LBB get an email saying they were also unsuccessful?
No. No email to say unsuccessful but she received the email regarding the 2.30pm tickets which just reassured us that we were put in the right tier x
....ok, no now I am worried that they think BR6 is in KENT/Tier 2
I received absolutely no emails yesterday so panicked and dropped the ticket office a line to check. They confirmed they had me as East Sussex and she would ‘opt me in’ to receive emails - I didn’t know I had ever opted out! Worth sending a quick email to put your mind at rest
Great idea to produce the video. Personally I am still not sure whether a mask has to worn once sitting in your seat (Apologies if I missed this as was watching Richard W on the news in parallel to the video). Would also like to know whether the Sam Bertram exit will be open for east stand fans to leave by after the game.

At the Doncaster trial match masks had to be worn at all times, on one of the BBC reports this morning from the ground it was mentioned that masks were to be worn at all times. I doubt that the Bartram exit will be open.
Only just read through this thread and I'm just completely stunned that anyone could think that someone who hasn't already paid for a ticket should have the same opportunity to go as someone who has already paid for a ticket. Especially as 3,000 people who have already paid are missing out as it is.

For information, for the Doncaster game the face covering had to be worn at all times except for eating/drinking, and the stewards did remind those who forgot to replace coverings after doing this. Given the likely temperatures tonight, might be useful to avoid frostbitten nose!
No persistent standing. So I can stand up for better blood circulation but have to sit back down quickly. I thought refreshments would be allowed but It seems not. it honestly doesn't feel like a proper match day experience and its more scary than exciting.

And in the case of tomorrow at least, which may be different because of it being short notice and on a Wednesday night, there will be a mix of season ticket holders and non season ticket holders.
Its different now that it's going to be only 2000 for the foreseeable, the ballot system is fair if it means everyone who bought a season ticket and is able to go should be able to see a game in person.
I wouldn't go if you offered me a free ticket and £100.
Up to 4 hours in December and having to wear a mask all the time.

Did anyone else in BR6 or LBB get an email saying they were also unsuccessful?
All people are saying is that in the present circumstances season ticket holders should get prioritiy for tickets.

I doubt that the Bartram exit will be open.
