Ben Amos was our man of the match. This tells you everything. We were not convincing upfront yet again. Chuks didn’t particularly have a good game. Not a great fan of Madison but when he came on against MK dons he could at least show him self to be the best crosser of the ball that we have right now. I fail to see why Gilby is given a start as he is not as in your face as he should be and needs far too much time on the ball than he will ever get. We definitely need another striker and ideally one who will get on the end of good crosses from Maddison. A one nil win would have been a bit unfair to the opposition and ultimately they probably deserved a draw. The last two games have shown that if Charlton are pressed then they ultimately panic and will have to deal better with this in future.
Makes you laugh. Bowyer fuming at the game management of the players he's picked, tactics he's coached, and subs he's made. He's come across as a right cock this week, everyone's fault but his own.
It's been a strange week for Bows, I hope it isn't the effect of being under real pressure from our owner for the first time. He needs to snap out of it ASAP.
Listened to the Shrewsbury commentary until they pulled the plug in the second half. They said that we had a strong team with Gunter's caps, Washington and Williams full international's and the experience of Watson and Pratley but they commented that at times we looked sloppy and questioned if all was happy within the camp. They wondered what impact L.B.'s public criticism was having.
Awful performance again, pulling of Williams as he says he shirked a challenge was naive and stupid of Bowyer.
Somethings not right in that dressing room, players don't talk to each other.
I have thought this for weeks. I dismissed it after the Ipswich win but now think there was a big element with them being severely impacted by injuries. This doesn’t strike as a happy behind the scenes camp at the mo and the performances and chopping & changing is reflecting that.
Shame Bowyer did 't take off more players who pulled out of a challenge. If so how many would we have left on the pitch. Washington was useless he should have been subbed not Williams. Bogle, Washington and Aneke how many tested their keeper. Are Watson and Pratley havings a competiton to see who is the slowest? Our only decent players Amos, Maatson, Pearce and Famenwo. Even Albie gave the game away. They were only going to score with a pen and we gave them one? Some players should hang their heads in shame"
Bowyer gonna lose the dressing room if he keeps pulling this shit
Which is pretty much the only time I am ever in favor of sacking a manager. As long as a manager has the dressing room, I don't like seeing them go even if results are poor.
This will sound perverse but Bowyer has become a victim of his own success.
He made a silk purse out of a sow's ear last season and damned nearly avoided relegation.
We started the season with an even poorer squad for reasons we all know and did ok given the situation. Then Thomas came in, the transfer embargo was lifted and Lee got three or four new bodies in.They gelled instantly and went on a terrific run which torpedoed us up the table. The expectation of fans, all of whom were simply grateful for the Club's existence just a few weeks before, went through the roof.
However this is Charlton. You can always rely on an injury or ten to derail us and the international break meant the momentum of our run came to a juddering halt.
Thomas has improved the Squad but to some extent Bowyer is still moving deckhairs around the Titanic.
I'm as guilty as anyone in forgetting this during the heat of the match, read the match thread, but we need to remember where we were.
We have a chance of play offs with all our players fit but otherwise, in reality, top half is as good as it gets as it stands.
Not Bowyer's fault at all but the criminal lack of investment on the playing side by Duchatelet and the crooks respectively.
Remember where we've been and what we've gone through and then give thanks to Lee Bowyer and his staff for sticking with us. They need our support not demands for their heads on a platter right now.
LB has built up quite a bit of credit imo but he honestly needs to change course. For ages now he has gone fat too negative in his selections and game management, as soon as we go a goal up I start getting worried cos you know 100% we are going to sit back and take pressure. Even if we had won today that still wouldn't excuse the style of play or performance. LB Get positive or you are going to be in trouble. This team should be dismantling these teams but cant because of the playing style being implemented. Tight play and hoping for 1-0 ain't going to cut it under the present ownership imo
Awful performance again, pulling of Williams as he says he shirked a challenge was naive and stupid of Bowyer.

Is that true or stuff you have read on internet forums like this one? (Not saying you are making it up for a moment but that's a big statement to make).
Lee bowyer if you are not putting any faith in players they are not going to give 100%. Man management needs to be more than just ruling with an iron fist. It seems bows is pulling out of winning and setting up a positive team at the moment!!!.😤😤😤
I would be a lot less pissed off with LB if he said “I got that wrong, I’m a young manager still learning blah blah blah”. A refreshing change. Instead he digs out a player and shifts blame. Cannot be good for the dressing room and now a large fraction of the fans see through it.
Remember how last season a few of us pointed out when we were top 6 that xG was showing we were actually close to relegation-level quality? And everyone was like... "Nahhhh, we are top six, xG is rubbish!" And then we wound up being relegated?
I guess now is the time to show how we looked even before today... We have been the most outperforming club in L1. Eventually, xG shows that mirage will end... Don't kill the messenger!
Bowyer surely need to be careful. Williams is an international player and i assume is well respected and liked within the squad. If he goes public slating someone like Morgan it probably gets forgotten about, but when you do that to a player of Williams' stature it might risk upsetting the squad and losing the dressing room.
You're not mugging off an up and coming young player here, and telling him he needs to buck his ideas up if he wants to make it as a pro............William's is a 27 year old international footballer.
With the investment and expectations of Sangaard,Bowyer is now under pressure to deliver which in the past has not been the case.It is showing, his comments last week about the fans and todays Williams episode are not doing him any favours, the team is playing "scared" football no one seems to want the ball,no one wants to take risks going forward.Williams was on a high a while back, scoring for Wales and us,what has happend to him since, hardly played,Washington was on a run of a few goals,no gets nowhere near scoring .Gunter our most experienced international player, has given away 2 stupid penalties costing us 4 points.
This will sound perverse but Bowyer has become a victim of his own success.

Where we were is irrelevant.
The here and now needs the attention. We should have seen the game out, not digging out a player for not putting in a challenge.
Needs an experienced head on that coaching staff ASAP.
You point is worthy but I disagree. The quality in the squad we have is up there with the best in the league. Bowyer can't find a system to get the best of what we have and his default was to try to stop Shrewsbury, which nearly worked but it won't work every week. If he left us in the lurch, like everybody is praising him for not doing last season, and we brought Howe in, you wont see me crying.
1. Digging the fans last week 2. Johnny Williams this week (going forward he did well)
Who's he going to blame next week? No guts to go and kill the game, sitting stupidly deep and basically saying here you go have a goal with 15 mins left to play to Shrewsbury and against other teams this season.
Football isn't great, scuffing it out last 3 games against poor opponents.
Yes an awful performance and we are on a poor run. However a lot of the comments on here are way over the top. We had a really good run which unrealistically raised expectations. We are NOT a great side and we do not have GREAT players. Compare this side to the one that won the play offs 2 years ago. How many, if any of the current side would have got in that side? Almost no-one! Please everyone be realistic and patient! COYR
Has he lost the f*****g plot?! I love Bowyer but I had to check if that was photoshopped.
Williams lost the ball at one point and burst back and drew a foul? Williams commitment being questioned, what on earth have I read, he draws fouls for us repeatedly.
Wake up here Bowyer, I didn't care about the fans comment as I thought it had been blown out of proportion, openly criticising one of your players like this again? You will lose the dressing room.

Bowyer: Whatever...
Slade: Looks like mine.
Bowyer: Who's in yours?
Slade: Foley, Ulvestad, Crofts, Jackson.
Bowyer: Cheap.
Slade: And yours?
Bowyer: Forster-Caskey, Watson, Pratley, Gilbey.

PANIC DEFENSE 11 men behind the ball
Worst sub I’ve seen in years
