    Famewo out for 9 weeks.

Could be a blessing in disguise as I don't see Norwich recalling him now

Trying to think the last time we scored 5 at home. I can only think of the Cardiff match but we must have done it since then.

Well, who in all honesty saw that coming?
Wonder what price you would have got for 5-2?
Personally, I was predicting a draw.

    Wow. What a performance.

If you swap Bogle and Pigott in that first half I think we may have scored 4 in the first half alone. I would dearly love to have him back at the Valley in January. He would be a brilliant addition to our strike force.

But we look so much better when we play quick and intense football, we were unable to do that last week with Doughty, Smyth and Maddison out. Even just the addition of one of them made such a difference.

Credit JFC for an excellent showing. We saw a return to form (and his correct position) from Gunter and then Williams and Chuks just put on a performance for 40 minutes that was head and shoulders above league one level.

Brilliant show to watch as well. Charlton should be a club feeling bright and optimistic tonight and we need to keep that intensity going!

Well done Lee Bowyer. I’m 100% behind you.

first half poor, then chucks and williams come on - hopefully in the window we will bring more in that are at their level and be able to have a 90 minute threat
Are you sure you were watching our game?

Poor 10 minutes at the end of the 1st half, but we were exploiting space and creating chances. I thought Maddison played well, and tactically the front two splitting to the wings left their back three marking each other forcing their full backs to play as a back five. FC playing right side didn’t work for me, but we had clearly identified a weakness there and tried to exploit it all game.

Second half we were superb with most of our attacks coming down their left and Gunter took full advantage of the space, and what a game he had. Chucks outstanding and Williams busy. Comprehensive well deserved victory. Roll on Tuesday. COYR!

We have just won 5-2 if anyone focuses on the negatives on this thread you really are sad bastards.

So feel free to praise up Maddison, Williams Aneke etc and let Lee Bowyer work on getting more out of Gilbey.

The game is played over 90 minutes and for 70 minutes we were very good. 15 minutes average and 5 minutes all at sea.

So pleased that my man Maddison showed some lovely touches because the Haters on CL and other social media were waiting to do what they get pleasure out of which is to slag off. Left or right in that free role his touches were mainly class. Still only at 90% and his goals are still to come on a regular basis.

I knew if we attacked the Dons we could score plenty. Ok we needed Aneke, Williams to combine with Maddison and the two wing backs as we appeared to go 3-5-2 with the introduction of little and large.

Jonny Williams crunched into a tackle and got up quick. I knew then he would be magic.

I said we should be proactive and get at League 1 defenses with our best attacking players. I only predicted a 4-2 win at 4.14pm when we were 1-2 down.
    Apologies for my negatively.

So pleased that Thomas Sandgaard was there.

We really do need to get a centre half in in January then. We're relatively lucky that we only have a couple of weeks until January and can get someone in to cover the fact we're missing our first choice central defensive pairing. Bowyer won't want to rush Deji back, and even if he does we can't be going on with two centre halves who have already had bad injuries this season. That will be all four out for long period before Christmas, which is nuts. I think we'll have to have a look around for a young loanee who someone is willing to lend us

First half we were the better side but not great. Washington's goal (and Pearce's pass for it) were a thing of beauty. To be fair to Wimbledon, their response was good. Pigott's goal was a peach, not sure we could do much about it; their second we were asleep and allowed them a free header. Apart from Pigott who was a handful, I didn't think Wimbledon were all that, but it shows we were a lot better - I'm sure they're better than Burton, Shrewsbury or MK.
Second half we came out with some energy and once Chuks and Williams were on, it was only a matter of time before we restored parity. It looks like Maddison's free role allowed us to play with some attacking intent - long may it continue. We had a bit of luck with some of the goals but we've not had much luck recently so I'm happy with that.
I criticised Gunter the last few games but he was superb today, stopped what should have been the first goal, got an assist and was generally very positive.
New Valley Pass was a big improvement, a few teething problems but it was the sign of a club trying to do the right thing and bring supporters along.
  • The only good thing the ref did was to book their ‘keeper early for time wasting; other than that I thought he was dreadful.

Madison has started to show what he is capable of. He and Forster-Caskey are a class above most midfielders in this division.

Bogle tried really hard, got into some great positions, but he’s no Aneke.

Overall, a good performance, and while 5-2 may flatter us, all the goals were really well worked.

I thought we were very average first half but did not deserve to be losing. Second half was so much better especially once Williams and Aneke on, I'm really not sure what Gilbey offers. Everything was so much more positive, there seemed more energy, more work rate and more driving runs. JFC excellent, its just a bit of a puzzle with him as he has the ability it's just trying to get that consistently though I suspect a lot has to do with his body not being able to handle it nearly twice a week.

Maddison's best game for us though I thought he was poor first half. I really hope he does kick on from that performance. Honourable mention for Washington as well, thought he was very good and a constant annoyance for them with his running.

As good a result this time as the last was bad.

That said the inconsistency is bafflingly consistent. We get a good result, and then an awful showing, then a good one, then a bad one... There's not much of a run of any kind of form. It's very odd.

That said, spend well in January (and thank Christ for an owner who has the means and intelligence to grasp planning in advance) and hopefully the kinks will be ironed out.

An upgrade up front to take pressure off Aneke and a CB (if Famewo really is going to be out for months) a priority for me.

Yay!  We played like men possessed in the second half: aggressive, going for the jugular.  Much better than all that navel-gazing, pissing about at the back.  Bowyer had given them a rocket.  And Chuks proved he's better than Bogle - which ain't saying much!

Hadn't seen Joe Pigott since he flopped with us.  Hugely impressed - he has matured in to a real player, making moves work in midfield - far more than just a bean-pole goal-hanger.  Can we sign him up?!

Now - we must continue that ruthless aggression, forward tempo, against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night...

Commentary seemed to suggest that we went to a 3-5-2 second half?
At the end, when Oshilaja came on, yes.

Enjoying the valley pass after show as well. Gary Windass off Corrie on here now.

So sad to hear you watch Corrie.

I thought Windass was a footballer.

As I said at half time, I wasn't too fussed that we were behind as I could see we were the better team & we just needed to score more than them to win. Sounds obvious but that is all football is about.

We looked a lot better going to a back 3 & Gunter had a stormer. Game changed with the addition of Williams & Aneke.......if only both could start & last 90 mins then we have a chance of top 2.
LOL, you also said "Sorry but I can't see us scoring 2 more."

At least you might stop moaning for one evening ..... although I suspect we'll see little of you tonight.
