Utterly ridiculous as if an infected player in in the dressing room, they are likely to pass it to everyone else, so the next game wont be able to go ahead. This goes against Government advice that everyone should test when going out and meeting other people.

But it does prevent short notice cancellation from a supporters perspective. This is about wider stakeholders not the players as I read it
I imagine they could choose to still test but those results wouldn’t allow a postponement request.
Norwich off on NYD, will be interesting to see if they can go ahead with the cup game a week later
If it's their players that have tested positive (and if it was today) then they have 10 days in which to isolate.......and seeing as the guidelines are now 7 days then I can't see any reason why it wouldnt go ahead - even if a few other players have caught it but aren't testing positive atm.

What a strange decision (or reason for the decision). Are the EFL saying that due to the disruption a late postponement causes to fans then they would rather players play a match whilst being infected with Covid - which could then lead to those players infecting opposition players, which then might then lead to the opposition club cancelling future fixtures because of it.

If seven of those who started the last game are not available it brings into question the integrity of the competition. Let’s not also forget if you did that in another EFL competition you’d be fined.
Everton vs Leicester on Tuesday off, as Leicester don't have enough players
Premier league rules have turned into a farce.
Leicester seemingly don't have many/any covid cases, their list of missing players is down to a long injury list plus players away at AFCON. They had enough players (including a few kids) to beat a Premier league team 4-1 at the weekend.
However premier league rules state that if they don't have 13 senior outfield players available then the game can be called off. Why on earth aren't they made to play the game with the squad that featured on Saturday?

Agreed it's odd that NO FA Cup games anywhere weren't played, yet a PL game 3 days later can be called off

I wonder how many New Years Day games are going to be on.
I suspect that segment of EFL on Quest won't take very long

Bizarre.
Wolfie Smith is alive & kicking at the EFL.
Power to the people !!
If not then have the courage of your convictions & dont play. Then fight the EFL in court if there are repercussions.
The Premier League has told clubs there will no longer be a requirement for twice-weekly PCR Covid-19 testing.
From Thursday clubs will conduct daily lateral flow tests.
Tests will be carried out the day before matches and on all training days, with PCR tests only taken to confirm a positive lateral flow result.
The change comes following the Government's updated policy to testing and isolation, which places less emphasis on PCR tests.
