Has Bowyer lost it?

Anyone who still thinks Bowyer is the man to take the club forward is doing so out of blind loyalty and stubbornness.

    Enough is enough
I actually don't think TS will sack him, so he's guilty of blind loyalty and stubbornness too!!
I’d be very surprised if Lee’s position hadn’t been discussed behind the scenes with TS and the Chief Executive. Even more so after today .
I thought TS was the Chief Executive?
Technical Director then . Ged Roddy
  • I suspect that Sandgaard may be listening to the wrong people. I can't see Bowyer reverting to the sort of manager he was and am wondering whether there are health issues. He was positive, now he is depressive. Sorry but the negativity he exudes is not going to give the players any confidence whatsoever.

What may annoy all those that harp on about loyalty was the lack of loyalty Chelsea showed to Lampard. As a result of that disgusting lack of loyalty which is sadly all to common in football, they look like they may have turned their season around. It is disgusting!
  • What I will say is that niggly matches like the one today surely can’t have changes many minds. There are plenty of teams who would’ve gone to Fleetwood today in those conditions and struggled to dominate the game.

If you were Bowyer out before, you didn’t see enough to be swayed. If you were in the wait and see camp, you’re likely to look at the point gained in the playing conditions and think “ok take it and move on”.

Our away results have been good of late (MK, Rochdale, Bristol R). The results we need to address are at home. Big questions will be asked if we don’t beat Burton in midweek I suspect.
Last week it was “we’re unlucky because we were playing Gillingham, world renowned purveyors of worldy goals”, this week it’s “we’re unlucky because it was a bit windy”.

The excuses are becoming rather more desperate week on week.
  • I hope he speaks to the players with a bit more enthusiasm. Embarassing post match interview.

Good point - we need to freshen up our excuses as they're getting a bit stale. Hopefully LB will work on this for Tuesday - change of temperature might be an issue?
  • It's sad he needs to go, but it won't turn round with him here.

I don't believe we wouldn't be better off with someone coming in with some fresh ideas and energy.
  • We play bottom of the league Burton at home on Tuesday. If there ever was a match which we must win. This has got to be it for Bowyer.
Thing is we will scrape an unconvincing 2-1 win, paper over the cracks and he gets another crack of the whip. This is starting to remind me of the back end of Pardew’s tenure. He too stood there on the touch line looking absolutely lost.
I drew that comparison months ago, Bowyer has said things akin to "I'll pick my best team from now on" more than once and got a free pass.

Can't believe I'm defending Bowyer here, but to be fair to him,, those Valley Pass interviews are literally 5 minutes after the final whistle.   It's hard to feel upbeat straight after that performance!

Another thing Lee give the players a day off after a bloody game. They don't need to listen to your droning voice after a defeat and 5 hour coach journey .

I was thinking of throwing caution to the wind and straight out blaming witchcraft.
  • Give the job to Chris Powell everyone would be chuffed, we still won’t go up, but, I’d have money on promotion next season.
I honestly can’t say the same is likely with Bow left in charge.

Have you suggested this to Lee? It could be a factor - I believe RD employed a witch to put a curse on the players...
  • Going to cost a small fortune to get rid of though, as Southall gave a lucrative and long contract, even though he didn't have it to give.
  • Don't forget Aneke out of contract.

Forgotten about him. Don’t think I’ve heard anything about him since he joined.

    A sexy witch!
  • Can’t see Thomas sacking Bowyer anytime soon, I think he will review at the end of the season and see where things are. The club needs stability and making a change so quickly will not benefit anyone! Like many id be tempted to change but who realistically would we get in now to change anything?
  • The best bet now would be a caretaker from within which would give time to consider a replacement if it didn't work out. But we have to change the mood music. There are too many games to go with a decent squad for us to just let this season go.

    Cook
    cowleys
    curbs
    powell (I wouldn’t)
    euell
    neil Harris (sorry)
a young coach from a bigger club
    sol Campbell (joke)

nows the time so that a new man has time to assess and draw up targets, decide who to keep and who to move on.

Stick with him until the end of the season and then review it. It's good to be talking about the football rather than which con has taken us over. When you compare what was going on this time last year I'd take how it is now all day long. What we need is stability now. Get behind him.
I will never understand this mentality. Ever.

Because it's better off the pitch, we should accept it being worse on it? Weird.
I think it puts it in perspective.
Bow and Gallen are building a team. No point in sacking him before he’s had time to work with the new players. The time to review it is the end of the season.
They aren't building a team though:

Amos Out of contract in the summer
Gunter will be 32 when next season starts
    Oshilaja oocits
    Famewo on loan
    Maatsen on loan
    Millar on loan
Pratley oocits and will be 36 when next season starts
    Smith on loan
    Shinnie oocits
    Stockley on loan
Schwartz will be 32 in August

This is a great a point and when you hear bowyer talking about other sides building teams over years, really makes you think what he is going on about.

    Lapslie moved on
    williams moved on

    two sides to every point

As silly as it sounds I think Powell might be the only realistic option out of these. I think the Cowleys and Cook might wait for a championship job.

I’d love Powell back but he already turned down a L1 gig a few weeks ago. There’s not a huge amount of choice out there.

If you twisted Cook's arm he might be interested.
  • Would be great to know just who would be interested in the Charlton job when it does become available
  • Maybe Powell would be a good option in a temporary capacity. Extend if it goes well.
