Well that was better. Let's hope that Bowyer has turned the corner and learnt how best to use his players.
From the little I've seen, Aneke and Schwartz look like a potentially good partnership. I'd like to see them have more time together.
Washington and Smyth were our weakest players today.
No complaints over Albie sending off. No idea what he was thinking for either yellow.
Most remarkably, Bogle showed that he has plenty to offer, I was very impressed with his effort and effectiveness. Just a pity that he didn't manage to convert the very late one on one.
Schwartz did little today but early days yet, so not many minutes under his belt, I'm sure he will show us more as time goes by.
We just need to make a little more space for attempts inside the opponents box.
All around much better and more positive.
Biy harsh on Smyth, he only had about 10 mins....
Perhaps, just that when he was on the ball he seemed to give it away too easily. I guess he hasn't impressed me too much generally and so I am looking for him to prove me wrong. Bogle did very well in the same time.
Deji and Matthews thank you very much, defenders playing in defence, in their positions. A wasteful forward line made it tougher than it should have been 3 or 4 would not have been an injustice. Will not criticise, but had they equalised, we would be slating every forward on the park. However, encouraged that at least we created the chances to miss.
So let’s hope we continue to play people in the positions we bought them to play in.
So much better, players playing in their right position and we could have easily scored 4 or 5 on another day. It was still not perfect but carry on building on building that team and we will go on another run. Big praise to all the lads especially Oshilaja, JFC and Morgan until his second challenge which was silly. A well done to Lee as well not bringing any defenders on with 20 mins to go when we were in control. Couple of negatives we sat back after we scored but I suppose it's understandable with the run we have been on and our finishing needs to be more clinical. Well done the Reds.
A very business like win, cant believe some think all our strikers are dire.....FFS Chucks has 9 this season already and has, in the main, been mainly on the bench!! Ronnie needs to get up to speed but he has shown in both his appearances enough, for me, that he can play with Chucks or Bogle. Williams I thought played well.....JFC was immense as was Desi!! Morgan (one over the top tackle aside) was everywhere on the park. Matthews solid, little Ian was great with Millar in front of him...that's a great pairing. LB deserves praise tonight, he 'tinkered' a little but the lads were up for it from the start....lost the dressing room my arse!!! Now onto The Posh with a couple of our main players back...lets build on that!! Steve Brown is someone I'll always listen to.....and today he has spoken a lot of sense and most of the negative nellies on here wont like that!!!
There have been many mistakes made in team selection, players decisions and effort levels over the past 10+ games. The main thing is everybody is learning for improvement.
We need to do an Oxford now and win four on the bounce.
overall we played well, the more attacking line ups has turned things around which is good - nearly paid the price for not getting our best 2 strikers on the pitch at the same time but a win is a win and bowyer has taken the handbrake off so the future is bright COYR!!!
I’ve gone for Oshilaja, just. JFC has been excellent the last two games. Long may it continue because we need to have players nailing down positions now if we are going to make a push and that central midfield is probably the most critical in the team.
On another day, we're out of sight before they even get in sight of our goal. We should have won by four or five but the finishing didn't match the approach play.
Haha loving the comments from JFC between him and Millar Basically Liam told him he didnt get a touch Jake has already told him that his first goal cant be a flick on but one whipped in
We needed that and another day we’d win that comfortably.
Great to see a simple 4-4-2 with attacking players out wide and attacking subs coming on. Bowyer needs to stick to that formula, just be ready to adapt occasionally.
Only thing missing was the final finish or pass/cross. Great to see Chuks start a second game - and that was two games in a week, not even two Saturdays.
No Pearce, Pratley and Watson gives us a more mobile team, there are times they’ll be useful but is that the way we need to go?
Expected Schwartz to score and Bogle to miss. Can see plenty of goals in Schwartz. Good cameo from Bogle shame he couldn’t take that chance at the end.
Frustrating to get another red card and as Steve Brown’s just pointed Morgan’s lost his place in the side.
Got to be very pleased with a clean sheet considering Gunter isn’t comfortable there and 6th choice.
Never been a big fan of JFC, hope he can keep it up and build on this form. I’d also stick with Oshilaja ahead of Pearce at the moment.
Bowyer picked a balanced team with only one out of position and that was forced. He also didn't go ultra-negative when protecting the one goal lead. We worked hard throughout i all areas of the pitch. JFC is getting better by the week. It makes you wonder why it took so long for Deji to get a chance as he was again the pick of our defenders. Bogle looked a different player!
There were some negatives; we should have scored more; Albie shouldn't have been so reckless; short corners....why?
But all in all better and we should improve on that as well.
One more comment, Bowyer appears to have learnt from his substitutions that if you don't sit back and invite the oppo to attack, you can go on and win.
Said it post-Hull when they got that bloody deflected goal
We just needed a moment of luck ourselves to turn the tide for us - Few goals have been as a result of mistakes, some have been purely down to a bit of luck but felt we just needed that moment ourselves to build something from, almost a sliding doors moment
Felt it came with Forster-Caskey's deflection on Tuesday night!!
Only other point I'll make is I felt confident very early on - Someone made the point during our run that our issue is we dont like it when teams press us, it forces us backwards and we end up playing pointless passes amongst our back four - Rovers didnt do that once today, felt it played into our hands a bit too much, they let us get on with things a bit too much which is more fool them
nothing to do with luck, everything about playing attacking football
Makes me nervous to think of Pearce coming back into the side - hopefully Famewo can start on Tuesday and Lee lets Deji keep his place in the side that he so deserves after today.

Exactly what we needed. Clean sheet, flukey goal. Very happy with that. Should have scored more but at least we create and look like scoring. Onto Peterborough now and feeling confident.
3 points, clean sheet, well done Lee Bowyer, we should as on so many occasions scored 3 or more goals, but we have many injuries and we are s 6th in the Table and 3 points off second.
Great result and it should keep some of the Idiots off LEEs back for at least a week 😂😂👍👍👍
Comments
Ronnie is still getting up to speed, and thought he was playing in defence for Rovers ! Ronnie will hit double figures for Cafc.
Was it 10 good chances missed and we still won.
Jake or Oshilaja MOM, but no one had a bad game today. Gunter had a good 2nd half even though he is no CB, much credit for trying and giving 100%.
Millar is such a positive player, and is settling in nicely. He should continue to improve.

Full shift from JFC and Deji
Relieved for the lads. Confidence booster

Much needed win and something to build on.
Like for like attacking players with fresh legs.
“We played really well. Could have taken a few more chances. But great performance”
”It’s my goal. Seen Sky give it to Liam. I’ve sent a few texts to get it changed. Millar admitted in the shower he didn’t touch it”
“I feel like period just before injury I was at a similar level to now. I need consistent games. Feel as fit as ever now.”
Doesn’t winning make such a difference to the weekend.
