  • Well that was better. Let's hope that Bowyer has turned the corner and learnt how best to use his players.

From the little I've seen, Aneke and Schwartz look like a potentially good partnership. I'd like to see them have more time together.

Washington and Smyth were our weakest players today.

No complaints over Albie sending off. No idea what he was thinking for either yellow.

Most remarkably, Bogle showed that he has plenty to offer, I was very impressed with his effort and effectiveness. Just a pity that he didn't manage to convert the very late one on one.

Schwartz did little today but early days yet, so not many minutes under his belt, I'm sure he will show us more as time goes by.

We just need to make a little more space for attempts inside the opponents box.

All around much better and more positive.
Biy harsh on Smyth, he only had about 10 mins....
Perhaps, just that when he was on the ball he seemed to give it away too easily. I guess he hasn't impressed me too much generally and so I am looking for him to prove me wrong. Bogle did very well in the same time.
  • Deji and Matthews thank you very much, defenders playing in defence, in their positions. A wasteful forward line made it tougher than it should have been 3 or 4 would not have been an injustice. Will not criticise, but had they equalised, we would be slating every forward on the park. However, encouraged that at least we created the chances to miss.

So let’s hope we continue to play people in the positions we bought them to play in.
  • So much better, players playing in their right position and we could have easily scored 4 or 5 on another day. It was still not perfect but carry on building on building that team and we will go on another run. Big praise to all the lads especially Oshilaja, JFC and Morgan until his second challenge which was silly. A well done to Lee as well not bringing any defenders on with 20 mins to go when we were in control.  Couple of negatives we sat back after we scored but I suppose it's understandable with the run we have been on and our finishing needs to be more clinical. Well done the Reds.
  • There have been many mistakes made in team selection, players decisions and effort levels over the past 10+ games. The main thing is everybody is learning for improvement.

We need to do an Oxford now and win four on the bounce.

overall we played well, the more attacking line ups has turned things around which is good - nearly paid the price for not getting our best 2 strikers on the pitch at the same time but a win is a win and bowyer has taken the handbrake off so the future is bright COYR!!!

    JFC MoM 4Me
I’ve gone for Oshilaja, just. JFC has been excellent the last two games. Long may it continue because we need to have players nailing down positions now if we are going to make a push and that central midfield is probably the most critical in the team.

  • Jake Forster-Caskey will be on ValleyPass shortly
  • Much much better
Full shift from JFC and Deji
Relieved for the lads. Confidence booster
  • On another day, we're out of sight before they even get in sight of our goal.  We should have won by four or five but the finishing didn't match the approach play.

Haha loving the comments from JFC between him and Millar
Basically Liam told him he didnt get a touch
Jake has already told him that his first goal cant be a flick on but one whipped in
  • Plenty of positives today:
Bowyer picked a balanced team with only one out of position and that was forced. He also didn't go ultra-negative when protecting the one goal lead. We worked hard throughout i all areas of the pitch. JFC is getting better by the week. It makes you wonder why it took so long for Deji to get a chance as he was again the pick of our defenders. Bogle looked a different player!
There were some negatives; we should have scored more; Albie shouldn't have been so reckless; short corners....why?
But all in all better and we should improve on that as well.

oshalaja is our third best CB now for me - ahead of pearce, pratley and gunter
On today’s performance he’s waaaay ahead of Pearce. If it was possible to bring another decent CB in this month I would let Pearce go on a free.
  • One more comment, Bowyer appears to have learnt from his substitutions that if you don't sit back and invite the oppo to attack, you can go on and win.

Like for like attacking players with fresh legs.

  • Said it post-Hull when they got that bloody deflected goal

We just needed a moment of luck ourselves to turn the tide for us - Few goals have been as a result of mistakes, some have been purely down to a bit of luck but felt we just needed that moment ourselves to build something from, almost a sliding doors moment

Felt it came with Forster-Caskey's deflection on Tuesday night!!

Only other point I'll make is I felt confident very early on - Someone made the point during our run that our issue is we dont like it when teams press us, it forces us backwards and we end up playing pointless passes amongst our back four - Rovers didnt do that once today, felt it played into our hands a bit too much, they let us get on with things a bit too much which is more fool them
nothing to do with luck, everything about playing attacking football
  • JFC and Deji stand out performers.

Makes me nervous to think of Pearce coming back into the side - hopefully Famewo can start on Tuesday and Lee lets Deji keep his place in the side that he so deserves after today.
I think Jason’s time is up, unfortunately.

    Pornhubtastic!

Definitely straying into the realm of TMI there @soapy_jones!
  • a very welcome win that keeps us well in contention .. what  we need now is consistency (WINNING consistency)
  • Exactly what we needed. Clean sheet, flukey goal. Very happy with that. Should have scored more but at least we create and look like scoring. Onto Peterborough now and feeling confident.
  • Back to basics 442, just a shame Ronnie has been Charltonised already
