One thing I would throw into the mix is the fact that a Curbs return would echo the story of Graham Taylor and Watford.
As we all know Curbs took sole charge in 1996 and left in 2006 having taken us from mid-table Championship club to Premier League regulars....and now fifteen years later we are in League One.
Graham Taylor took over Watford in 1977 as a League Two side and left them in 1987 as a Premier League team.....although within two years they were relegated and were in League One when he returned in 1996 but by 1998 he had them back in the Premiership.
It is of course true that Taylor had not been out of management for as long as Curbishley but it does show that contrary to popular belief people can "go back" to a club and be successful.
Is it too late for Curbishley now? Probably but football doesn't change that much really and at sixty three Curbishley would be considered in his prime by many continental clubs.

He wants to be near his family, been on TV touting he is looking for a new role, inexperienced enough to unlikely be getting a Prem or Championship job anytime soon. And it's a huge name which I suspect TS would love to raise our profile.
All I'll say is what I've said for months......you don't know who will take the job until they know its vacant. Did Birmingham fans expect Bowyer to resign & take their hot seat ? I very much doubt it. In the same manner there are many managers, currently employed & unemployed, who would jump at the chance to be our manager. For every 5 names mentioned on here there are 5 more no-one had thought of.
Saying all that, if I had to be pushed to give a name from the lists already mentioned I would (in order) go for:
Cowley Martin Powell

Danny Cowley was on sky sports last Friday morning , saying had had a few offers but was waiting for the right project. Said wanted to work for an owner that shared their vision of progressing a club 'the right way'
Am sure he also said he and his brother had been working on training routines and now had something like 1100 different drills etc to keep training fresh and to address different needs at different times
I'm no Pep Guardiola but fuck me 1100 training drills is surely over complicating things. Football is supposed to be a simple game.
Anyone with tactical vision. Don't believe in managers that are 'good at getting teams up from lower leagues' cause you can't sack them after promotion and by definition they are also excellent at going back down so they can keep the sequence with another club.
I watch quite a lot of these, and despite not being bad in terms of tactical insight, they're not exactly great either. The game plan seems very basic.
About three weeks ago Bowyer’s demeanour changed and he stopped blaming the ref/his players/the tea lady etc. I thought at the time either GR or TS had had a quiet word and told him to chill a bit. Now I’m of the opinion that the Birmingham thing has been bubbling under for that time culminating in today. In that time TS/GR would not have been wasting their time and I’m sure have identified a shortlist of two or three for this scenario. The fact TS will be in the U.K. by Friday suggests an appointment by the weekend is pretty much guaranteed.
Spot on! Don’t have to be an expert in body language to have noticed LBs manner changed dramatically, and the reason for that change has now become apparent. I have no doubt that TS has identified his target, and has proposed an offer, and we will find out who later this week.
TS would have been working on this, taking soundings from various trusted sources, and made his decision. The pieces of TS’s jigsaw have been falling into place behind the scenes, and this will be an important piece.
I have no idea who it will be, but TS has shown that he doesn’t hang about, and has made, what look like some very astute, long term, appointments to fit into his ambitious plan.
Whoever it is, I trust TS to make a good choice, I await to be pleasantly surprised.

No doubt Michael Beale is a world-class coach, but is he a good manager? I think that's where Lee Bowyer struggled. He's probably an exceptional coach himself, but with tactics, selection, in-game management and all the other soft skills you need as a manager, he broke down.
Karl Nielsen. He's Danish... A classical composer but its like a manager (think of Charlton as a Cantata) he's also been dead for a few years which makes him unlikely to pick Pratley and Watson in the same side
