For those saying Jackson might be tempted by jumping ship to Birmingham with Bowyer I'd be intrigued to understand your reasoning. Jackson is a club legend already and knows how much the fans love him. He would certainly have more loyalty to the club than he does to Bowyer. After all, he played here long after Bowyer left and has never left the club since he joined.
Why would he join a club that he has no affiliation with as No. 2 just for a man he worked with for 3 years? Let's say he doesn't get the top job here, as expected, then he is surely cemented for the No. 2 spot here. Why would he pick No. 2 spot at Birmingham over No. 2 spot at the club he loves and he is loved at? I think the prospect of being No. 2 in the Champ over L1 isn't much of a pulling factor, especially given the fact that he knows he will always be in the running for the Charlton job (which he has expressed he wants at some time in his career) as No. 2 here.
It makes sense neither for his career nor for sentimental reasons to go with Lee to Birmingham in my opinion.
Has anyone suggested, other than the interview, that he might?
And for the reasons given above I think it's far from being cemented as a No2 here.
But other than that I agree.
Apologies, I think I read someone on the match thread say something along the lines of "I think he'll leave" and a couple others but not this thread.
Fair enough, but I still think that most coaching roles at Charlton (that is assuming that he will at least be offered some role, not necessarily assistant coach, which as you pointed out isn't cemented) would be more attractive to him than assistant coach at Birmingham. This argument does of course rest upon the assumption that he will be offered at least some role here, but is that an unreasonable assumption?

It depends who the, if indeed there is, new man is. Remember even Robinson bought his own staff in. If Jackson is reduced to Balls Bibs and Cones he might not want to stay anyway.
Ritchie Wellens hasn't really progressed Salford from when Alexander was in charge. They look to be slipping out of the playoff race
He did win a cup final this weekend though against Portsmouth the reason I like is he plays great football (with Swindon and won promotion) and is a young progressive coach that could grow with the club.
I'd much rather us go that route than a old fashioned manager like Adkins, Jackett etc.
Don’t get carried away with the emotion of tonight. It’s just too early for JJ in my opinion. Would really hate it going wrong for him and tarnishing his true legend status. Go somewhere else JJ and cut your teeth and then you never know.
Whatever else it may be it is certainly not too early for Jackson, he is 38 years of age - four years younger than Curbs when he took the reins and younger than Karl Robinson too when he took the job.
He has not been on the playing staff for three years now and has been coaching under Robinson and Bowyer so if he is not ready now he never will be.
If we were in the Championship it may be different but he is perfectly well qualified for the role and from his point of view he may never get this type of chance again.
Surely doesn't bode too well for him if Bowyer hasn't spoken to him for 2 days.
If he was thinking of taking Jackson as his number 2 you'd think he might've at least given him a quick call to say 'think about it and let me know'. Unless of course Jackson is just being clever and dodging the question.
'Potentially' interested. Is it just me who thinks this guy should jump at the chance to manage us? Relax mate you're not Guardiola.
Spent about 10 years in non league, had 2-3 very good years at Lincoln, did 'ok' at Huddersfield before being sacked and has been out of work for 8 months.
Is there any real evidence that JJ and LB are inseparable twins? They seem completely different characters to me.
I think Jacko either gets the gig (with maybe Curbs upstairs) or he takes a management opportunity in the lower leagues. If a new ‘known’ manager comes in for us it is highly unlikely, and almost unheard of, that Jacko will stay. They always bring their own in with them.
I think if Jacko was going to Brum he'd have left with Lee
I’d rather gamble on JJ being brilliant than take the likes of Jackett, Adkins etc. You know they’ll be ok, maybe even good, but they’re unlikely to do anything more than that.

I could just like this comment, but I also wanted to say that I really do like this comment. Unless Wilder is a realistic option... So I guess I’ll just continue to like this comment. 👍🏻
Football is a funny game. Anyone appointed could turn out to be a massive success or a massive flop. Anyone appointed will get 100% support.
But with all the type of names being touted around, someone like Atkins would feel a real deflater. Like being told that someone with money is taking you out to dinner and your cab turns up at a Brewers Fayre.

Probably get pelters but thought it was worth sharing. Would make sense with the Roddy connection.

2) Chris Wilder - probably won’t happen
3) Jacko with Curbs
So probably option 3.
I would be fuming if we got him, smacks of a lack of ambition.
JJ and Curbs for me of the realistic options. Wilder or Howe if we’re dreaming.
1. Ryan Lowe @ Plymouth
2. Michael Beale (wildcard suggestion)
3. Ritchie Wellens @ Salford
4. Jonny Jackson - the man, the legend!
Adkins would be soooooo underwhelming!

Curbs: ‘Use the Schwartz, JJ. Use the Schwartz.”
