My post match views are the same as my preview; I couldn't see Charlton scoring from open play. We have lost 20+ goals with Aneke and Washington out the team and it showed.

I said the Paul Cook slating of his team could galvanize Ipswich and they started sharp. We improved but with no cutting edge the 0-0 looked favourite unless any gifts were given.
When your best hope is with Ryan Inniss from corners it shows the lack of strikers in the team.

Millar and DJ are hot and cold. Millar was better first half and DJ better 2nd half.

Stockley is an honest player but he isn't a lone striker, he needs another striker playing just off him to pick up his flicks and headers.

If Aneke and Washington aren't back ASAP we will finish outside the top 6.

Dozell committed 3 bookable offences and received just one yellow card.

The match today looked like two teams just short of being in the play offs.

The good news is that we now look very solid from back to front. The bad news is that without Washington and a fit Chuks we have little goal scoring threat.
We now have the playoffs in our own hands with Portsmouth losing. But another game on Tuesday is a big ask with the same midfield/forward line-up.
Everybody is in the same boat though! Pompey had one of their usual centre backs sent off too, not too sure of the severity of it?

DJ much, much better second half.
Yup ... he went from invisible to mildly threatening.

He has a few tricks, but he is cumbersome and seems to suffer from some kind of Tourette's of the feet.

    He is the new Bogle.

Puts in perspective how poor this team is. Don't understand why Shinnie didn't come on as well. I still can't get my head around one up front at home.
Three words for you....personnel at hand!

Really need Maatsen,Washington and Aneke back ASAP.  Not enough quality today in the final 3rd .
Ref was poor and clearly should have 2nd yellowed one of Towns players.
Schwartz not used at all and no Shinnie either.

Should defiantly have put another forward on, Miller is powderpuff as is DJ and Gilby.

Defence looks solid enough but going to need some goals if we want play off place.

    Another hopeless referee.

Will it be enough though? - That only gives us ten more points

We had our chances, but this is a game we would have lost not long ago. As it stands a draw with Pompey losing has put it in our own hands mathematically for the first time in months. Win on Tuesday and today was an ok result.

Poor decision in my opinion not to change the course of the game with subs. Shinnie can unlock defences, and we've been told Schwartz is a fine and lethal finisher of chances.

We talk of taking games one at a time and we really didn't take the game to Ipswich today, they tired badly and the only fresh legs we had on the pitch were Watson's, who was hell-bent on picking up a booking as quick as possible

Very little in the game  I like DJ, its Miller who is the problem for me.  DJ will try things, some will work like last week, sometimes it wont.  With Miller if you are going to be a right footed player on the left then he needs to be able to float in a cross (never does) or cut in with a powerful shot (his are soft and not accurate).  Needed to get Miller off, and give Ronnie the go for the last 20.

We have turned this season around in terms of results, 9 unbeaten, Innis has made a huge difference at the back, and that draw does help us.  Had we drawn last week and won this week everyone would be happy.  Yes Ipswich did get a point but if Ipswich finish above us we wont make the play offs so in some respects their points total is now irrelevant to us

What bit of quality was in the game was spoiled by the ref, total pain in the arse type

We have precious little creativity.  Not sure Schwartz has shown anything to show he’d take chances.

Blimey, what am I reading? Have we just lost to go into the relegation zone?

it’s not surprising we’re struggling to score when our two top scorers are both injured. Schwartz has never looked like changing anything when he has come on against an organised defence.

We have another clean sheet, unbeaten in 9, we were the better team in a difficult game. We are closer to the play offs now than we were before kick off.

Of course we can improve and I really wanted us to win today. But Ipswich were organised and made it hard for us.

The reality is that we are not good enough, our attacking play is limited, LB's squad had very little pace, our only threat really was Doughty, and of course he's gone, i think we really missed Maatsen as a winger today, very tricky, never stops running, Jayesimi the opposite. Play-Offs possible, unlikely to get promoted though, but come the Summer a new squad will be assembled with an experienced manager and a good transfer kitty. Roll on the summer.
  • Underwhelmed by the performance today.

Injuries are becoming our downfall yet again.

And will I ever type Millar's nàme without "disappointing"  accompanying it ?

If we get into the play offs we will have as much chance as anybody.

I really like Adkins, he’s had a great start and his positivity has been a breath of fresh air.

One minor criticism - I do worry he’s a bit rigid in his one striker philosophy. At 0-0 and in the ascendancy, if Ronnie Schwartz can’t get game time now, is ever going to get on the pitch under Adkins?

We do have great target men, but our wingers are so poor at crossing. If we’re going to stick to the two wingers, it makes you wonder why not include a winger from the u23s on the bench. Charles Clayden has been tearing it up for them, yet we have two CB’s on the bench?

Sometimes you need players to feel the competition waiting to take your place, whereas Miller and DJ know they’re playing the full 90 no matter what.

with Washington, Aneke & Maatsen missing it was not a bad result, we should reach the play offs but that might to as far as we get

Play offs in our our hands. How many would have taken that 3 months ago?

A lot of negativity around. More important not to lose today IMO.

Surprised by the amount of negativity in the thread overall

We were the better team, have closed the gap on top 6 with a draw and are up in the mix for the play offs

    COYR!

It shows how up and down football is. We opened things up to 3 places but we now have opened up 6th place to being in our hands and fallen away in 4th and 5th. Things will chop and change some more but this has turned out to be an important game not to lose and our good run continues.

Because we need to win a lot of games to ensure we get into the playoffs. We were at home against a very out of sorts Ipswich and though we created a few chances, we didn't look like scoring, and when the opposition tired, we didn't take advantage of that. Today is definitely 2 points dropped more than 1 point gained

Disappointing not to go at them more, but maybe this squad isn't capable of playing that way. I can live with it, though...

Very disappointing. I don’t get Adkins reluctance to change formation when it wasn’t going our way. Shockley was isolated up front and Millar and DJ weren’t close enough to him when he won the ball in the air. What with Blackpool and Lincoln winning today, I think our chances of the play-offs are now virtually gone. We’re going to have to rely on the other teams imploding that’s if we don’t implode ourselves.
Six games to go, all to play for.

Surprised we took so long to settle. Our final ball was awful for 60 minutes, with JFC most at fault. Second half was a big improvement, and we probably should have nicked it.
We’re missing Chuks and Connor for sure.
Can see why Adkins didn’t tinker too much while things were improving, although Schwartz for Millar might have been worth trying.

Totally forgot the game kicked off early but seems it was no big miss as far as games go so walking in the woods listening to some beautiful birdsong seems like the better option now. Disappointed we didn’t win but the play offs are still a possibility so all is not lost.
