It’s the closest we’ve had to a rumour for about 300 pages, so thanks.1

It is no surprise that this years rumors thread, which every year has the same cycle of argument anyway, has been the worst in recent memory since the poster in question has returned to the boards.

thewolfboy said:Our best starting eleven, including the injured Purrington, looks pretty good for Third Tier. We also have decent replacements for several positions although we don't know how long Gilby will be out for and probably have to wait until January before JFK returns. Plus, no-one knows if Schwartz will make the grade and unfortunately we suspect Innis will get injured sooner rather than later going by his track record. After what happened to us in the Championship 19/20 season I think we are all fraught that injuries will wreck our promotion challenge hence the furore on this Rumours (or lack of Rumours) thread. IMO we must sign another left back/wingback and have proper cover for Innis although I hope young Deji can get a run out in the lesser cup games. Clayden might be able to cover for DJ but for me the big query is whether Schwartz can step in for Washington or Stockley? If not we need another striker. We shouldn't rely on Davison as third choice striker.11

We all thought that we would see new signings either with the kit launch or the training day! Neither happened which has really put expectations into check.0

Any news on the Geoff Cott signing I keep hearing about?4

Looking at previous posts...Maybe the reason we have not signed all the other players (that other teams have signed), is because we weren't interested in them, in the first place?
NA will have a way of playing, a structure. We will therefore buy/loan players who fit into that system. SG will know each player of their strengths and weaknesses, and whether or not they fit into NA's system.
All of the players listed on the previous 500 pages...some we all think are good, some are bad. Either way, it doesn't necessarily mean they will be very good/bad for us.
SG, I would be tasked to find players to suit a way of playing. SG to find the players that fit the system, not find the system once you have recruited a random set of 'good players'.
If we just 'scatter gun' and bring in quantity, and not quality, this is when you can start accumulating "deadwood" on expensive contracts. All of which, is a waste of money, and isn't sustainable.7 -

I expect another 4 loanees in - we always like to fill our "quota". But this will mostly come in at the end of August. I'm not expecting a marquee signing or anyone of note. Might be a player not previously mentioned on here (like with both Dobson & Clare) that will do ok, but for me the time has passed for a stand out player who will be a mainstay of team over 46 games. As a manager surely you want to get your core 15/18 players as a tight knit group before the season starts.
Loved to be proved wrong of course.8 -
If Dempsey has leapfrogged Vennings then I'll be peeved tbh1

I think the idea that we haven't been interested in ANY players picked up by other teams is fanciful.0 -
Give it a rest with this sniping at Ronnie Moore. It’s a rumours thread, he is posting rumours, whether they are true or figment of his imagination, stop reacting to it. I’ve come to learn to take everything with a pinch of salt on this thread.16

If we could get one more in before next Saturday, someone who can play across the front three, that would be spot on. However, Washington has looked very sharp the whole pre season and has solidified that position on LW.2

Within 48 hours of knowing we missed out on our 1st choice keeper we moved and got our second choice. We got our first choice center back in, and had to be imaginative to do so. We got our 1st choice center forward, despite some, if not all, of the other big clubs wanting him.5 -

I had a potential rumour this morning ……..
I was driving on the a2 towards Bexleyheath and was behind a Range Rover with the number plate tuck 5.
obviously tucker driving from gillingham to new eltham to sign a contract right?I over took the car to verify the driver so that I can post on here and be added in green to dazzlers list. But…..
the car was being driven by an angry looking middle aged woman.
unless tuckers mum drives him places, I don’t think it wa s him.23 -

Now you can spin that as "we're being sensible and not being held to ransom, we'll go back nearer the end of the window and get a lower price"
Or
"we're being unrealistic and TS is too tight/skint to spend what's needed to get promotion"
depending on how full/empty your glass is.1 -
