Never trusted FootballLeagueWorld as a source . If this was coming from Cawley or someone like Pete O'Rourke I'd give it credence. Just doesn't make any kind of sense to me.

I should imagine that the money on the table the Hungarian mob would be minimal. We are better off keeping hold of him for the relegation battle. No much difference to a loan signing until the end of the season - except he gives a shit. I’d much rather Dobson playing at 25% than Fiorini at 100%!

Hungary has some beautiful countryside. Cost of living about half here. Pro family government policies. His new club is 50m drive from Budapest.
Dobson choosing to go to Hungary still feels really random. Apart from anything else, how did he come up on the radar of a Hungarian team anyway? They've got no other English players or ones I recognise have played over here, they don't have a manager or owners with British connections.

Agree. The whole thing is bizarre (if true). I don’t think a single English player of any note plays there. I don’t think either that his strengths that we most value in him are rated anywhere near as important by HU fans. There’s a tradition of playing a much more technical game there. He won’t be adored, and won’t fit in. I wonder who he and his wife will socialise with. His agent is clearly a **** who could not get Champ interest but wants his payday no matter..

The money on the other could've been spent on wing-backs or a striker rather than a position we were fine for with Dobson.

The relocation and upheaval of his family would eat into any increase in salary he'd be likely to get. So clearly isn't something he'd want to do unless he felt like we were offering way below his value.

Either way it does seem an odd agreement so I’m taking it with a pinch of salt, for now.
It's not too rare a deal I don't think, in fact CBTs deal was very similar but with a different structure (if I understand the facts properly)
There's no real difference between CBT being "loaned" to Derby for £300k and leaving on a free to them at the end of the contract (I would assume he's also signed a pre contract?) Vs these guys having a pre contract and then offering a transfer fee before hand to get their man sooner. Both Derby and the Hungarians could just wait 6 months and get them on a free... To be clear I'm not saying we would get anywhere near £300k for Dobson!
If anything it makes more sense to do it this way because I am guessing you could split the transfer fee over the life of the contract for accountancy purposes, vs a loan fee which I assume sits within this seasons accounts.
