Athletics is too important to not fund, but the returns at most games haven't been that great either
But then it depends on whether you consider funding to be there to support sport, health, exercise, "social wellbeing" etc or is it there to win medals.
Different funding agencies and delivery bodies for the health and exercise part of Athletics/Running. The money comes from Sport England and delivered by everyone from England Athletics, ParkRun and others in the running sector.
UK Athletics deals with the elite end, and gets the UK sport funding. I would say, thar Athletics is the only global sport of that list.
Athletics is very accessible though. Someone who is inspired by a Mo Farah or Dina Asher-Smith can take up running very cheaply, whereas the same can't be said about rowing or even cycling, which makes athletics success potentially more inspiring for future generations, especially those from poor homes
More generally a sport like basketball gets minimal funding from UK Sport in comparison to those previously mentioned sports, despite being massively popular, especially in inner city areas. The money goes instead to sports where we can win medals, which are often very specialised and expensive, and inaccessible for the vast majority of the young people watching.

Basketball still gets a load of Sport England money for participation so the inner city is covered, but no UK Sport money as it’s not an Olympic sport we’re going to win at.
The sport I always feel sorry for in the funding debate is Netball, massive sport for participation and we’ve got an elite team that competes at the top of the sport, yet no chance of UK Sport money, so they have to hope Sport England can find money to help fund the elite end of the sport.
Obviously she has an unfair advantage as she has a lower centre of gravity because she hasn’t fully gone through puberty yet. Shouldn’t be there in place of some one older who’s worked for longer.
Can't see where we are going to get golds from now apart from ladies cycling? Equestrian maybe. Medal total and placing well down on last two Olympics.

We have won more golds today than we have in some whole Olympics, its not even lunch time yet!

Anyway, back to the Olympics, this is an interesting comparison table showing countries and their performances over the past Olympics. The ROC, Dutch, Italians and Japanese are ahead. France, S Korea, Denmark, Poland just below par.

I have an opinion different to you, so I must be trolling?
But that is not really your opinion is it that she has an unfair advantage?
At a push she might have a slight natural advantage with a lower centre of gravity but seeing as the most famous and successful skater of all time Tony Hawk is 6ft 3in I doubt it is really that relevant
the demise of Germany .. once upon a time both East and West were always up there, the East athletes as high as kites on a cocktail of who knows what 'medication', the West always very determined and competitive. Now, like their footballers, German athletes are mid table and look like staying there. And 13 year olds winning medals ? .. they should be at home doing their homework ((:>)
no different to footballers born and nurtured in the UK who when they fail to make (say) England squads, go away and play for the lands of their fathers.

My point being we are behind the 67 and 65 medals we got in 2016 and 2012 where we finished 3rd & 2nd respectively. 27 golds in 2016 & 29 in 2012.
We have come up short in rowing, cycling and athletics this time around.

We were never going to emulate the achievements of 2012 and 2016 with gold medals because of the obvious reason of coming to the end of an era in Cycling and Rowing where we won a hatful of gold's in both. Athletics we were always going to struggle once Asher-Smith wasn't fit and Thompson-Johnson has lost vital preparation time. Hodgkinson was a big bonus with her silver and bizarrely if Reekie hadn't tried to win the 800 she could well have won the silver or Bronze. ( No criticism as she was brave but she wouldn't have attacked the winner with half a lap to go in retrospect.)
Muir has medal prospects in 1500m but Hassan is strong favourite.

Crazy to think she'll likely still have a couple of years of school left after the next Olympics let alone these ones.

Gammon's gonna gammon, though.
Anyway, a fantastic achievement by a 13 year old at the Olympics.
So, I suggest that yes, you are trolling.
